Episode 147 -Rally Rumors, New Features, and a Big Milestone Ahead

Welcome back to The Cooper Cast Podcast, the FUN podcast for the MINI motoring community, with host Dale Blankenship and a soundly sleeping Producer Kodi, who once again delegated all of this week's responsibilities to the overworked host. Apparently supervising is exhausting. This episode begins with an exciting new challenge on the horizon as MINI prepares to make its debut in a desert rally adventure unlike anything we've seen before. While it's often described as a rally, it's really much more of a time, speed, and distance adventure than an all-out race. The twist? Nobody knows exactly which MINI will be tackling the desert. Will it be something we've already seen... or a glimpse of something entirely new? Dale shares what we know—and just as importantly, what we don't. Then the speculation continues. Rumors are beginning to circulate that BMW and MINI may have something very different in the works. Could it be a bold new direction for the brand? Is it wishful thinking, or is there actually something brewing behind the scenes? Dale takes a look at the reports, shares a few thoughts of his own, and explains why this is definitely one story worth keeping an eye on. Next comes something brand new for The Cooper Cast itself. Dale introduces two new recurring features designed to help MINI owners get even more out of the hobby. Whether you've ever thought about organizing your own MINI run or simply want to learn how to keep your MINI looking showroom fresh, these new segments are packed with practical tips, real-world experience, and ideas you can put to use right away. They're all about helping strengthen the MINI community while making ownership even more enjoyable. And finally, Dale shares a reminder that a major Cooper Cast milestone is just around the corner. Episode 150 will feature the presentation of the inaugural Cooper Cast HuMINItarian of the Year Award, recognizing someone who exemplifies what the MINI community is truly about: kindness, generosity, and making a positive difference in the lives of others. It's an episode you won't want to miss. It's another Cooper Cast filled with MINI news, exciting possibilities, new ideas, and a look ahead to one of the biggest moments in the podcast's history. Motor safely… and don't forget to wave! 🚗🐾

Episode 146:Special Editions, Good News, and Kodi Calls Out Again

Welcome back to The Cooper Cast Podcast, the FUN podcast for the MINI motoring community, with host Dale Blankenship... and, well... Producer Kodi appears to have called out yet again. At this point, HR has stopped returning Dale's emails, and Kodi's attendance record is beginning to look a little suspicious. Apparently Milk Bones don't earn themselves. Fortunately, Dale is more than capable of carrying the show... even if he'd appreciate a little help from his four-legged sidekick every now and then. This episode kicks off with another edition of the Cooper Cast Question of the Week. This week's question had more than a few Cooper Casters scratching their heads, but once everyone got to thinking, the answers started rolling in. As always, they range from thoughtful to entertaining, proving once again that no two MINI owners see the world exactly the same way. From there, we take another trip around the globe to check out a pair of regional MINI special editions, this time destined for Japan and India. MINI certainly hasn't slowed down when it comes to limited editions, and these latest offerings continue that tradition. Whether you're a fan of exclusive trim packages or just enjoy seeing what other markets get that we don't, these cars are definitely worth a look. We finish things off with a round of Cooper Cast housekeeping, covering several stories from around the MINI community. There's an update on the inaugural Cooper Cast HuMINItarian of the Year Award, an honor recognizing those who make the MINI community a better place through kindness, generosity, and service. Then comes one of those stories that reminds us what this community is really about. A longtime MINI owner—and a veteran in every sense of the word—who is currently facing some significant health challenges has one less thing to worry about after his faithful dog found a loving new home. Sometimes helping someone doesn't require a toolbox or a checkbook. Sometimes it's simply stepping up when it's needed most. We also celebrate some encouraging news for the brand as MINI sales continue to climb, proving there's still plenty of enthusiasm for these quirky little cars. And finally, Dale shares his plans for the upcoming weekend... none of which include Producer Kodi, who once again failed to report for duty. At this rate, Dale may have to start interviewing replacement producers... although finding one with Kodi's impressive résumé of napping, treat consumption, and occasional microphone appearances might prove difficult. Another episode packed with MINI news, community updates, and the stories that remind us why being part of the MINI family is about so much more than the cars. Motor safely… and don't forget to wave! 🚗🐾

Episode 145: Facebook Follies, Missed Opportunities & Another Special Edition

Welcome back to The Cooper Cast Podcast, the FUN podcast for the MINI motoring community! Once again, Producer Kodi is nowhere to be found. We can only assume he's taken an unscheduled personal day. Although, with a thunderstorm rumbling through the area, chances are our resident four-legged producer will be making a dramatic return to the studio any minute now. Funny how that works. This week, Dale heads back into the wonderfully unpredictable world of the MINI Facebook groups. Love them or hate them, they never fail to provide interesting conversations, good advice, questionable advice, and the occasional "Wait...what?" moment. Whether it's technical questions, spirited debates, or stories that make you shake your head and laugh, there's never a shortage of material. Then we turn our attention to MINI Takes The States 2026 and what Dale believes was a golden opportunity that somehow slipped through the cracks. It seemed like such an obvious win for MINI... yet it never happened. Fortunately, someone else recognized the potential and stepped in to make it happen instead. Curious? You'll have to tune in to hear what everyone missed. And because it wouldn't be a week in the MINI world without another special edition, MINI has unveiled yet another exclusive model—this time destined for China. Is it just clever marketing, or is this one genuinely worth getting excited about? Dale takes a closer look at the latest addition to MINI's ever-growing collection of limited editions and discusses why some markets always seem to get the really cool toys. So grab your favorite beverage, settle into the driver's seat, and join Dale for another episode filled with MINI news, community chatter, a few laughs, and maybe even a surprise appearance by Producer Kodi... assuming the thunder lets up. After all, there's always something happening in the MINI world—and if there isn't, someone on Facebook will invent something. Motor safely… and don't forget to wave! 🚗⚡🐾

Episode 144: Special Editions, Special Runs and Remembering Special People”

Welcome back to The Cooper Cast Podcast, the FUN podcast for the MINI motoring community... although this week's episode takes a more reflective turn by the time we reach the finish line. Host Dale Blankenship is flying solo once again. Producer Kodi has apparently taken an extended leave of absence, and despite repeated attempts to locate him, his whereabouts remain unknown. Our best guess? Somewhere comfortable, quiet, and probably involving a nap. Current theory, asleep on MY side of the bed.  We begin with this week's Cooper Cast Question of the Week: "What's your favorite MINI Special Edition?" The responses prove once again that MINI enthusiasts are a passionate bunch. Some of the expected favorites make the list, but several lesser-known and more obscure special editions receive plenty of love as well. It's a fun reminder that every MINI has a story, and every owner has their own favorite chapter. From there, Dale recaps a wonderful Sunday afternoon spent with DC Metro MINIs during their Country Roads Run, sharing highlights from the scenic drive and the friendships that continue to make these events so memorable. It's another example of why getting out and enjoying your MINI with others is what this community is all about. The episode also gives a well-deserved shout-out to the SoCal MINI club as they prepare for their ambitious Route 66 adventure. It's another fantastic example of local clubs creating memorable experiences and keeping the spirit of MINI motoring alive. As the episode draws to a close, however, the tone changes. Dale takes a few moments to honor the memories of two longtime, dedicated MINI enthusiasts who passed away last month. Both left lasting impressions on the people who knew them and on the community they helped build. Their passion, kindness, and enthusiasm will not be forgotten. Out of respect for their memories, this week's episode concludes a little differently. The familiar cheerful sign-off is set aside in favor of a quiet moment of reflection—a reminder that while our MINIs may bring us together, it's the people we meet along the way who truly make this community special. Thank you for listening.

Episode 143: Heritage, Broken Glass, and Something Big on the Horizon

Welcome back to The Cooper Cast Podcast, the FUN podcast for the MINI motoring community. This week, Producer Kodi decided to call it an early night, leaving host Dale Blankenship to keep the studio running solo. Somehow, against all odds, he managed. We kick things off with a look at the brand-new MINI Heritage Edition. Why is it called the Heritage Edition here in the U.S. instead of the Oxford Edition found in other markets? And perhaps more importantly, why don't we get to enjoy the full Union Jack roof graphic that appears on so many of MINI's promotional photos? Dale dives into the details and explains why American buyers are getting a slightly different version of this special edition. Next, we tackle one of those stories that makes every MINI owner cringe. A fellow MINIac experienced something almost unbelievable when the rear door glass suddenly shattered without warning. Dale discusses what happened, another incident, and why stories like this are worth sharing with the community. Then comes a little teaser... Something has been quietly brewing behind the scenes, and Dale believes it has the potential to leave a lasting mark on the MINI community. We're not quite ready to pull the curtain back just yet, but the first hints are here. Stay tuned—more will be revealed very soon. Finally, Dale and Regina are getting ready to point the MINI north for DC Metro MINIs' Country Roads Run, winding through some beautiful countryside before finishing in historic Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. It's shaping up to be another fantastic weekend of scenic roads, great people, and MINI motoring at its finest. Unfortunately for Producer Kodi, this one is strictly a human adventure. Someone has to stay home and guard Cooper Cast HQ... preferably while napping. Another episode packed with MINI news, owner stories, a little mystery, and plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy your MINI. Motor safely… and don't forget to wave! 🚗🐾

Episode 142: Unexpected Favorites and Upcoming Motoring Adventures

Welcome back to The Cooper Cast Podcast, the FUN podcast for the MINI motoring community, with host Dale Blankenship and faithful Producer Kodi, who once again reports for duty and somehow manages to supervise the entire operation without lifting much more than an eyebrow. This week's episode kicks off with another edition of the always-popular Cooper Cast Question of the Week: "What option or feature does your MINI have that you weren't too sure about at first, but now you can't imagine living without?" As always, the Cooper Casters came through with a fantastic collection of answers. From creature comforts to unexpected technology and everything in between, it's interesting to see how many features owners initially questioned but have since become absolute must-haves. The responses are thoughtful, surprising, and, as always, a great reflection of the MINI community. Then Dale and Regina hit the road for a quick MINI run to Flow MINI in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, for their 15th Annual Milkshake Run. It's a fun recap of another great gathering of MINI enthusiasts, proving once again that sometimes the best events are the ones that simply bring people together for a drive, good conversation, and, of course... milkshakes. To wrap things up, we take a look at the calendar and highlight a number of great MINI events coming up throughout the late summer and fall. No matter where you live, there's a good chance there's a MINI adventure waiting just around the corner. And here's where you come in. If there's a MINI event in your area that you don't hear mentioned on the podcast, we'd love to help spread the word. Simply send the details to TheCooperCast@gmail.com or drop us a direct message on The Cooper Cast Facebook page, and we'll do our best to get it mentioned in an upcoming episode. After all, one of the goals of The Cooper Cast has always been to help connect MINI owners with the amazing events happening throughout the community. Another episode full of great conversation, community interaction, and plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy your MINI. Motor safely… and don't forget to wave! 🚗🐾

Episode 141: New Special Editions, Warranty Decisions, and Paying It Forward

Welcome back to The Cooper Cast Podcast, the FUN podcast for the MINI motoring community, with host Dale Blankenship and Producer Kodi, who once again reports for duty... provided there are enough treats to justify his appearance. This week, Dale and Kodi kick things off with a look at a brand-new, ultra-limited MINI edition created exclusively for one lucky country. Unfortunately for the rest of us, chances are slim we'll ever see one in person—let alone have the opportunity to own one. What makes this special edition even more intriguing is that MINI stepped outside its usual playbook. Rather than simply adding unique paint and badges, this model comes from the dealer already equipped with aftermarket performance and styling components as standard equipment. It's a fascinating approach and one that has enthusiasts wondering if we'll see more factory-backed collaborations like this in the future. Next, the conversation turns to a topic that every MINI owner eventually faces: extended warranties. Are they worth the money? Are they simply an expensive piece of paper? Or could one unexpected repair pay for the entire policy? Rather than declaring them universally good or bad, Dale takes a practical look at the pros, the cons, and the questions every owner should ask before signing on the dotted line. The right answer isn't the same for everyone—and that's exactly the point. Finally, we wrap things up with a reminder about something that costs nothing but can mean the world to local businesses: Google reviews. Whether it's a restaurant, hotel, attraction, or local shop you visit during a MINI run, taking a couple of minutes to leave an honest review is one of the easiest ways to support the businesses that welcome our community. Dale also shares how his own plans took an unexpected detour—but, as often happens on a good MINI adventure, everything worked out for the best. It's another episode full of MINI news, practical ownership advice, and a reminder that sometimes the smallest gestures can have the biggest impact. Motor safely… and don't forget to wave! 🚗🐾

Episode 140: Mounts, Mishaps, and MINI Wisdom

Welcome back to The Cooper Cast Podcast, the FUN podcast for the MINI motoring community, with host Dale Blankenship and faithful Producer Kodi, who is once again AWOL...probably on the hunt for more treats. This episode finds Dale and Kodi taking another stroll through the ever-active world of the MINI Facebook groups, where the questions, advice, and occasional head-scratchers never seem to stop. Leading off this week's discussion is one of the most frequently asked questions in the MINI universe: "What's the best cell phone mount?" It seems like hardly a day goes by without someone asking for recommendations. Dale shares his thoughts on several of the more popular mounting options, discusses the pros and cons of different styles, and offers a few suggestions to help you find the solution that works best for both your MINI and your driving style. From there, the conversation expands into some of the mechanical and ownership issues that have been popping up throughout the MINI community. Some are simple fixes. Others are a bit more serious. But every question is an opportunity to learn something new. Whether it's maintenance tips, common failures, troubleshooting advice, or simply learning from someone else's experience, Dale believes one of the greatest strengths of the MINI community is owners helping owners. It's another episode filled with practical advice, community conversation, and the shared experiences that make MINI ownership a little easier—and a lot more enjoyable. Motor safely… and don't forget to wave! 🚗🐾
