I’ve enjoyed several episodes of this podcast, but I think the June 30th episode on ‘When healing takes longer’ will be my last. For anyone who has actually been through a lengthy illness, your guest was a textbook miserable comforter. When she talked about the time she didn’t feel good for a couple of weeks but a doctor was able to fix it, I almost threw my phone. Was there no one qualified who had ACTUALLY been through a lengthy, perhaps years long period of needing healing that could deliver that message. Everyone who has actually lived it can tell you about this exact kind of person trying to help by telling them, ‘we’re the same, I was so sick it took a couple of weeks to get better, but a Dr fixed me right up, so change your thinking!’ Remember folks, you’re sick or suffering because you can’t change your mind, but also, God will get to it when it’s on His timetable. Apparently, a loving God sees you don’t want to live anymore but, you know, a day is a thousand years or something so quit whining and insisting He do what the Word says He will. What a terrible, terrible message to anyone going through real suffering. It was tone deaf, flippant, and painted God as some absent Father who will get to it eventually. So disappointing someone listened to this during editing and said, yeah, this is great. I truly hope whoever okayed this never has to understand first hand why it was so destructive of a message.
