Beyond Should: women reinventing their lives, careers & owning their power

Lucy Reynolds

Beyond Should is a podcast about breaking down the barriers of our “shoulds.” “I should stay in this job… I should take that meeting… I shouldn’t say how I really feel… I should, I should, I should.” Sound familiar? But what if everything powerful, beautiful, true, and authentic lives on the other side of should? Hosted by Lucy Reynolds, certified coach and founder of The Murmuration Collective, Beyond Should invites listeners to stop living in their “shoulds” and start naming, claiming, and pursuing what they deeply want. Through stories, wisdom, and candid conversations with inspiring guests — thought leaders, creative minds, advocates, artists, entrepreneurs, and storytellers — each episode explores courage, self-trust, asking for help, embracing failure, and stepping into a more vibrant, authentic way of living. Expect laughter, honesty, vulnerability, and the occasional f-bomb as we challenge cultural conditioning, shed inherited expectations, and reclaim personal power. Because when we show up boldly, we elevate not only our own lives — but the world around us. Beyond Should premieres on Tuesday, March 10th in honor of Women's History Month. New episodes will be out every other Tuesday. Follow on Apple Podcast, Spotify, or wherever good podcasts are found. See you on the other side of Should!

What We Get Wrong About Moderate Women: with Jackie Payne

What happens when we stop assuming we know what other women think and start actually listening? Lucy sits down with Jackie Payne, founder and executive director of Galvanize USA and Galvanize Action, to explore the power of curiosity, connection, and finding your own voice. Jackie shares what she’s learned from years of listening to moderate women across America: why so many women underestimate their own leadership, how “going along to get along” can keep us from speaking up, and what becomes possible when women realize they aren’t alone. From the pressures facing families to the power of community and everyday action, this conversation is an invitation to shed the belief that someone else has to lead and recognize the power you already have. More about our guest:  For most of her career, Jackie was on a traditional legal and policy track: a Legal Aid lawyer, a policy attorney at the NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund, and Director of Government Relations at Planned Parenthood. Then, in 2016, she found herself troubled by a question no one around her seemed to be asking honestly — why so many women were drawn to authoritarian, strongman politics — and unwilling to accept the condescending line that they were simply "voting against their interests."  So she did something most people in her position wouldn't: she left the established path to go listen. Jackie spent two years in conversation with women across the country before founding two organizations from the ground up — Galvanize USA in 2018 and Galvanize Action in 2019, now a $20 million organization and one of the most influential voices on moderate women voters in the country.
