Ep. 128 - How to Find Joy in Sobriety with Cammy McFadden

What if sobriety wasn't about everything you had to give up, but everything you could finally experience? This week on the Finding Purpose Podcast, Adam sits down with Cammy McFadden, recovery advocate, coach, and co-founder of Kindred Spirits Collective, to explore how to build a joyful, connected life without alcohol or drugs. With 35 years of continuous sobriety, Cammy knows recovery is about more than abstinence. She reflects on growing up in Greenwich, Connecticut, early drinking, anxiety, people-pleasing, and the desire to belong. She shares how recovery helped her develop self-awareness, supportive friendships, and a stronger sense of identity. Adam and Cammy discuss Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), 12-step fellowship, the importance of community in addiction recovery, navigating divorce while sober, and rebuilding life after major transitions. They also explore loneliness, healthy boundaries, self-care, and the courage to try new experiences. Cammy co-founded Kindred Spirits Collective with Jim Torney around a powerful message: "You don't need a buzz to have fun." The nonprofit brings sober and sober-curious people together through concerts, dinners, sporting events, outdoor adventures, and other alcohol-free experiences. Drawing on their work as recovery coaches, Adam and Cammy also discuss sober companioning, family recovery, building trust without judgment, and meeting each person where they are. Ep. 127 - How to Turn Grief Into Purpose & Help Others Heal with Carli Wargo

What happens when some of the most painful experiences of your life ultimately lead you toward your purpose? In this episode of the Finding Purpose Podcast, Adam sits down with Carli Wargo, licensed clinical social worker, addiction professional, and Executive Director of the InService Foundation, for an honest conversation about addiction, grief, recovery, family trauma, mental health, boundaries, and turning loss into meaningful service. Carli's connection to addiction is deeply personal. Growing up with instability, she experienced the impact of her father's depression and alcohol use while taking on significant responsibility at a young age. Years later, her younger brother died from a heroin overdose at just 21. Her father later passed away after years of struggling with alcohol addiction and depression. Carli opens up about grief, guilt, anger, shame, and the complicated emotions that can come with loving someone struggling with substance use disorder. She shares how working in the addiction field eventually gave her an opportunity to turn her grief into action—and develop a deeper understanding of the disease that profoundly affected her family. Adam and Carli explore addiction as a family disease, the stigma surrounding substance use, supporting someone in recovery, healthy boundaries, family involvement in treatment, relapse, compassion, and why getting sober is often only the beginning of the recovery journey. They also discuss the emotional realities of working in behavioral health—the incredible moments of watching people rebuild relationships, careers, independence, and their lives, alongside the heartbreak of relapse, overdose, and loss. Carli shares the work of the InService Foundation, a national nonprofit providing financial assistance, care coordination, and long-term recovery support to individuals who may otherwise be unable to afford the services they need. Ultimately, this is a conversation about what can happen when grief becomes action, compassion replaces judgment, and our most difficult experiences become an opportunity to serve someone else. About Carli Carli Wargo is a licensed clinical social worker, addiction professional, and Executive Director of the InService Foundation. Ep. 126 - How to Overcome Your Past, Believe in Yourself & Find Purpose with Lawrence Harris

How do you turn childhood trauma, mental health struggles, and self-doubt into a life driven by purpose? In this episode of the Finding Purpose Podcast, Adam sits down with Lawrence Harris, youth motivational speaker, author, and mental health advocate, for a powerful conversation about overcoming adversity, healing from childhood trauma, building resilience, spirituality, self-worth, and finding purpose through pain. Growing up, Lawrence experienced severe bullying, an abusive relationship with his father, and significant mental health challenges. At 12, he began therapy and was diagnosed with complex PTSD. As the oldest sibling, he also felt a deep responsibility to protect his younger siblings while struggling to understand his own emotions. Lawrence shares how therapy, journaling, fitness, mindfulness, fishing, spirituality, and honest self-reflection helped him begin processing his past and changing the trajectory of his life. He opens up about anger, isolation, shame, autism, intrusive memories, self-doubt, forgiveness, and learning that his past did not have to define his future. At just 20 years old, Lawrence has transformed those experiences into a mission to help young people recognize their worth and believe in what is possible for their lives. His work as a youth speaker has brought him in front of tens of thousands of students, schools, and organizations, and he is the author of eight books. Adam and Lawrence also explore social media and comparison, family support, breaking generational patterns, faith and spirituality, overcoming your inner critic, mental health resources for young people, and why purpose is often hidden inside the experiences that once caused us pain. This conversation is a reminder that your story doesn't have to become your limitation. It can become the reason someone else realizes they aren't alone. About Lawrence Lawrence Harris is a youth motivational speaker, author, and mental health advocate dedicated to helping young people believe in themselves, overcome adversity, and make choices that change their future. Erica shares how her journey evolved from fitness and competitive bodybuilding into nutrition, biotech, regenerative health, advanced diagnostics, and health optimization. Ep. 124 - How to Heal from Emotional Abuse & Rediscover Who You Are with Kristen Crabtree

Who were you before trauma, relationships, expectations, and survival taught you who you needed to become? In this episode of the Finding Purpose Podcast, Adam sits down with Kristen Crabtree—author, certified divorce coach, founder of Paramour Paradox, and self-described "archaeologist of the self"—for a powerful conversation about psychological abuse, divorce, trauma recovery, emotional sobriety, authenticity, self-discovery, and finding purpose after losing yourself. Kristen shares her deeply personal journey from experiencing sexual trauma as a teenager to spending 22 years in a psychologically abusive marriage. Over time, control, manipulation, isolation, and self-doubt left her disconnected from her own identity and questioning her ability to make even basic decisions. Everything began to change when Kristen realized she could no longer stay. After leaving her marriage in her mid-50s, she began confronting not only what had happened to her, but an even bigger question: Who am I now? Kristen discusses healing from psychological and narcissistic abuse, EMDR and trauma therapy, alcoholism and recovery, rebuilding self-worth after divorce, and recognizing how survival patterns can become mistaken for identity. She explains why constantly replaying our trauma can keep us attached to the past and explores her concept of "emotional sobriety"—understanding how our bodies and minds can become conditioned to familiar emotional states. Adam and Kristen also explore shame, addiction, emotional regulation, surrender, spirituality, people-pleasing, fear, living intentionally, and learning how to feel emotions without allowing them to control your life. Through Paramour Paradox and her work as an "archaeologist of the self," Kristen now helps people excavate the layers of conditioning and adaptation they've accumulated throughout their lives. Her philosophy challenges the idea that healing requires becoming someone new. Instead, transformation may be about remembering the person who was there all along. This is a conversation about surviving, healing, remembering, and finally giving yourself permission to live as the person you truly are. About Kristen Crabtree Kristen Crabtree is an author, certified divorce coach, and founder of Paramour Paradox. After leaving a 22-year psychologically abusive marriage, Kristen transformed her own healing journey into work designed to help others reconnect with their authentic selves. She is the author of Be the You That's More You Than You've Ever Been and uses psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, lived experience, and self-inquiry to help people uncover who they are beneath conditioning and survival patterns. Ep. 123 - How to Heal Your Past, Love Yourself & Find Your Purpose with Joseph Pellicci

What if the parts of your story you've spent years trying to escape are actually the experiences preparing you for your purpose? In this episode of the Finding Purpose Podcast, Adam sits down with Joseph "JP" Pellicci—entrepreneur, coach, author, and founder of Elite Life Emergence—for a powerful conversation about childhood trauma, self-worth, forgiveness, self-love, spirituality, fatherhood, and breaking the patterns that keep us disconnected from who we truly are. Joseph's story began in Stamford, Connecticut, where he grew up in his family's restaurant business and learned responsibility at an early age. But behind that upbringing were experiences that would profoundly shape his identity: struggling with dyslexia and special education, bullying, violence, feeling unsafe, becoming a father at just 15, raising children as a single father, and carrying a deeply rooted belief that he wasn't enough. Years later, discovering his wife's affair became another defining moment. Instead of allowing the experience to destroy him, Joseph began questioning the patterns that continued appearing throughout his life. What followed was a journey inward—toward responsibility, forgiveness, gratitude, spirituality, self-acceptance, and ultimately self-love. Joseph explains why healing begins when we stop blaming the world around us and become curious about what our triggers may be revealing within us. He and Adam explore childhood wounds, the inner child, external validation, vulnerability, ego, acceptance, nervous system regulation, breathwork, authenticity, relationships, fatherhood, and learning to take responsibility for the life you want to create. They also discuss why purpose isn't necessarily something we need to manufacture or chase. Sometimes finding purpose is a process of removing the conditioning, fear, judgment, and expectations that have separated us from who we have always been. At its core, this conversation is about coming home to yourself—learning to accept your entire story, transforming adversity into growth, and realizing that self-love may be one of the most powerful ways we can change our relationships, our families, and the world around us. About Joseph Pellicci Joseph Pellicci is an entrepreneur, coach, author, and founder of Elite Life Emergence. Through coaching, speaking, transformational experiences, and his book 12 Steps to Loving Yourself, Joseph helps people move beyond external validation, reconnect with themselves, and build lives rooted in self-worth, authenticity, love, and purpose. Ep. 122 - How Women Over 40 Can Reclaim Their Health, Energy & Confidence with Jennifer Rozon

In this episode of the Finding Purpose Podcast, Adam sits down with Jennifer Rozon—certified nutrition coach, founder of Revibe Nutrition, speaker, and host of the Revibe Your Life Podcast—for an honest conversation about women's health after 40, metabolism, hormones, weight loss, body image, confidence, mindset, and finding purpose. Jennifer grew up believing that how she looked was directly connected to her worth and success. That pursuit of perfection eventually contributed to a seven-year struggle with an eating disorder—an experience she rarely speaks about publicly. When Jennifer learned her health was affecting her ability to conceive, everything began to change. She slowly rebuilt her relationship with food, learned how nutrition could fuel rather than punish her body, and began developing the knowledge that would eventually shape her work with other women. Today, Jennifer's mission goes far beyond helping women lose weight. She explains why women in their 40s and 50s often feel disconnected from bodies that are changing through perimenopause, menopause, hormonal shifts, metabolism changes, low energy, and aging—and why the answer isn't another restrictive diet or quick fix. Adam and Jennifer discuss sustainable weight loss, strength training, nutrition, protein, healthy habits, morning routines, mindset, GLP-1 medications and peptides, muscle mass, bone health, and why longevity should matter more than simply looking good for the next six months. They also explore the deeper emotional side of transformation: overcoming shame, rebuilding confidence, changing your relationship with food, letting go of external validation, and learning to work with the body you have today rather than fighting to become the person you once were. Jennifer shares why sustainable health begins with understanding your deeper "why" and creating habits that actually fit your life. At its core, this conversation is about much more than weight loss. It's about reclaiming your energy, confidence, health, and identity—and building a stronger body and life for the decades ahead. About Jennifer Rozon Jennifer Rozon is a certified nutrition coach, speaker, founder of Revibe Nutrition, and host of the Revibe Your Life Podcast. Ep. 121 - How to Find Joy, Trust Yourself & Live Authentically with Rosalie Kissmann

In this episode of the Finding Purpose Podcast, Adam sits down with Rosalie Kissmann—speaker, educator, happiness teacher, and founder of Joy Redefined—for a powerful conversation about finding joy, trusting your intuition, overcoming fear, authentic living, self-love, relationships, spirituality, and discovering your purpose. Rosalie grew up as the daughter of Italian immigrants in a traditional household where life came with a clear roadmap: work hard, get an education, get married, and follow the rules. For years, she checked every box. By her twenties, she had the marriage, beautiful home, luxury cars, and vacations that were supposed to represent success. But something was missing. At 31, Rosalie trusted the voice inside telling her that the life she had built wasn't the life she was meant to live. Despite resistance from her family and the fear of starting over, she chose divorce and walked away from the comfort and security she had known. Going from a 3,600-square-foot home to a one-bedroom apartment taught her something life-changing: happiness and fulfillment aren't the same thing as having more. Adam and Rosalie explore the psychology of happiness, including the difference between hedonic happiness—the temporary pleasure we experience through possessions and experiences—and eudaimonic happiness, the deeper fulfillment that comes from meaning, growth, and living in alignment. Rosalie also opens up about one of the darkest periods of her life. During the pandemic, while teaching and raising her daughters, she reached a point where she no longer wanted to live. Then, during an experience she describes as divine, she felt a powerful shift that changed the trajectory of her life and deepened her connection to spirituality and purpose. That journey ultimately became Joy Redefined. Rosalie explains why joy isn't reserved for life's happiest moments. It can exist alongside grief, adversity, uncertainty, and struggle. She shares practical insights on staying present, strengthening social connection, breaking generational patterns, embracing failure, removing the masks we wear, and learning to become your own biggest supporter. She also shares her JOY framework: Just remove your mask. Own your story. You are enough. At its core, this conversation challenges us to stop looking outside ourselves for happiness and start building lives rooted in authenticity, purpose, connection, and self-acceptance. About Rosalie Kissmann Rosalie Kissmann is a speaker, educator, happiness teacher, and founder of Joy Redefined. After 25 years as an elementary school teacher, she expanded her passion for education by teaching happiness to children and sharing her message with broader audiences through motivational speaking. Her work explores happiness, authenticity, self-acceptance, resilience, relationships, spirituality, and what it means to find joy even when life isn't perfect. About

Have you ever felt life is flying by, and as it does you're drifting deeper and deeper into a purposeless abyss? I know I have. Welcome to Finding Purpose. I'm Adam Vohra, and for much of my life I lacked purpose and direction, fueled by events in my early childhood and self medicating myself with alcohol. Together, we'll explore different paths to purpose and how you can make a positive impact in your own unique way. You'll hear stories of resilience, determination, and the pursuit of purpose. We'll delve into the personal journeys of guests who've looked their demons in the eye and conquered them. These remarkable conversations display a common thread with emotional intelligence serving as the beacon to navigate relationships, setbacks and opportunities that present themselves on the path to a fulfilling life. So, join me on this journey as we find meaning and learn how to uncover the beauty of purpose while striving to make a lasting impact in our communities and beyond.
