Welcome to the world of The Groupchat Wrestling Podcast! 🎙️ Hosted by Mike, Andy, Dan, Brett, and Wrestling Mark, we dive headfirst into the madness of professional wrestling—mainly AEW, but we’ve got takes on BritWres, NJPW, indies, CMLL, WWE, and more. Each week, we tear apart storylines, dissect matches, and speculate on the next shocking heel turn—all with brutal honesty, a twisted sense of humor, and an unshakable love for wrestling. We get fully invested in our own fantasy booking, going down ridiculous rabbit holes that sometimes make too much sense. But most importantly, we want to spotlight as much as we can—because wrestling should be fun, and we want to celebrate it. At the end of the day, we’re just like a group of fans chatting wrestling in a pub—no agendas, no drama, just passion for the sport and plenty of laughs. Expect no-b******t analysis, plenty of chaos, and an unapologetic love for pro wrestling. Follow us on Twitter/x (@GWPodcastUK) for updates, and whether you’re a die-hard AEW fan, a WWE loyalist, or just love wrestling, we’ve got you covered. Episode 109 - Hangman vs Swerve: Has AEW Found Its Direction?

Has AEW FINALLY found its direction? After two excellent episodes of Dynamite, the storytelling feels like it has purpose again — and nowhere is that more obvious than Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland! This week on The Groupchat Wrestling Podcast, we discuss why the last two Dynamites have felt so different, with stronger character development, meaningful story progression and a sense that AEW is finally building towards something. At the centre of it all is Hangman & Brodido vs Swerve & New Level. We break down why this trios rivalry has become one of AEW's most compelling stories, why it arguably feels bigger than the AEW World Championship picture, and why rushing the next chapter of Hangman vs Swerve could be a massive mistake. Should Swerve and New Level win the trios titles? Could this rivalry lead all the way to All In? And has AEW finally remembered what makes its best storytelling so special? We also get stuck into AEW Blood & Guts, the increasingly exciting Full Gear card, Will Ospreay vs Kyle Fletcher, and what the future holds for AEW's stacked main event scene. And then things get completely ridiculous when we attempt to answer one very important question: Which THREE wrestlers would you take with you into a zombie apocalypse? From Jon Moxley and Batista to Hangman Page, Jack Perry and CM Punk (although perhaps not for the reasons you'd expect), we put together our ultimate wrestling survival teams! TIMESTAMPS 00:00 - Intro 00:50 - AEW Blood & Guts: The Worst Build Yet? 05:20 - Why the Last Two Dynamites Have Been So Good 10:45 - Full Gear, Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher 14:45 - Who Should Be AEW's Next World Champion? 20:45 - Swerve vs Hangman: The Long-Term Plan 30:00 - EVE Wrestling and the Indie Scene 40:15 - Listener Questions: CM Punk, Dream Teams & More 52:27 - Which 3 Wrestlers Would You Take Into a Zombie Apocalypse? 58:05 - Kenny Omega and New Japan 59:00 - Has AEW Finally Found Its Direction? 1:02:45 - Is Hangman vs Swerve Bigger Than the World Title? 1:08:30 - Hangman & Brodido vs Swerve & New Level: Don't Rush It! 1:11:00 - Thank You HOOK! 👍 Like the video if you enjoyed the discussion. 🔔 Subscribe to The Groupchat Wrestling Podcast for weekly wrestling discussion, AEW news, predictions, opinions and completely unreasonable arguments.
