Felicia and Ian Lindsey

In this new weekly show from the host of The Paranormal Lovers we take a look at some of histories less well known events. Why are they less well known? Because " History is written by the victors." So we are here to look at the other side of the story, and to give people a starting point to learn about the true history of this country.

Re-Release TPL Episode 30: Skull and Bones:

Send us Fan Mail Did too much recently and had a rough weekend so we did not get to record. Hope you guys don't mind yet another re-release from The Paranormal Lovers to get you through the week.  Come with us to Yale to take a look at one of the countries oldest collegiate societies. The Skull and Bones Society has been around since 1832. It has had many a famous and important members come though the doors of the Tomb, including 3 US presidents! But what makes this society so fascinating is just how little we really know about it. When they say Secret Society, they mean SECRET! And is it really a conspiracy to say they control the government when they have had Presidents within the society? I think not.  Episode 30 source notes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skull_and_Bones https://www.britannica.com/topic/Skull-and-Bones-Yale https://www.ranker.com/list/skull-and-bones-secret-society-facts/jacob-shelton https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3012287/ https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/secrets-of-the-tomb-skull-and-bones-the-ivy-league-and-the-hidden-paths-of-power_alexandra-robbins/293138/item/1615255/?mkwid=%7cdc&pcrid=76622395087230&pkw=&pmt=be&slid=&product=1615255&plc=&pgrid=1225955761390001&ptaid=pla-4580221857838627&msclkid=f8b63c5831601b0c6a89589e9f6411bd#idiq=1615255&edition=2362279 Thanks for joining us today! Episode 90: The Death of Kenneth McElroy:

Send us Fan Mail We have a doozy of a story for you guys this week.  Imagine being such a hated man by a town that has seen its share of violence, that 50 people can not remember who took the shot that ended your life.  That was how it ended for Ken McElroy and we are here to tell you how we got to such a place. Skidmore has had its fair share of crime, violence, drug addiction, etc; so when the townsfolks reach their limit, there is only one thing for them left to do. Handle things the old fashion way.   ROH EP 90 Source Notes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_McElroy Thanks for joining us today! Re-Release: TPL EP 90: The Raven Mocker:

Send us Fan Mail Due to us celebrating a birthday this past weekend, we did not get a chance to record new episodes for you guys, so we are re-releasing a favorite episode from each show on the opposite feed! This week we are headed back over to the EBCI rez to look at one of their most frightening legends. During a recent ghost hunt on the rez we learned about one of their shows called The Raven Mocker Screams Haunted House. This is based off of their legend of the Raven Mocker. The Raven Mocker, or Night Goer as they are known in cherokee, are evil spirits or creatures with one goal in mind, eating the hearts of those who are sick or dying to extend their own lives. And should their body begin to fall apart, they have a solution for that as well. Episode 89: Wu Zetian Part 2:

Send us Fan Mail We are back this week with part two of our look at the life of the only woman to every rule over ancient China, Wu Zetian.  It would not take long after her husbands death for Wu to make her self emperor, tradition be damn.  Now we do not know how much of the history of her life is true, or just bull shit made up by men. But if she killed even one quarter of the people she is alleged to have killed, that is still a stagger number of deaths.   ROH EP 89 Source Notes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wu_Zetian#Early_reign_(690%E2%80%93696) Thanks for joining us today! Episode 88: Wu Zetian Part 1:

Send us Fan Mail We are back this week with another tale out of China of a woman who stepped into a role of power no one would have expected.  Born in the early 600's Wu Zetian became a concubine to one emperor at the young age of 14. After his death, she wormed her way into the heart of his son and before long, she was making decisions for the whole of China.  We must keep in mind, however, that much of the history we have about her is written by men who believe women do not belong in a position of power.   ROH EP 88 Source Notes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wu_Zetian Don't forget to head over to http://threadless.com/theparanormallovers and get one of our shirts for only $13 till 10/29. Episode 87: Missing Over the Bass Strait: Frederick Valentich:

Send us Fan Mail The missing person's case we have for you this week gives you a taste of what our show The Paranormal Lovers is like if you have not given it a try yet.  Know to be a little reckless while in the pilots seat, Frederick Valentich went missing on October 21st 1978. Many people believed this to be a routine crash, one that sadly took the life of a young pilot.  But soon whispers began floating around that maybe there was an other worldly explanation for his disappearance. Just weeks before he went missing Frederick had made it known that he was worried about being abducted, to both his father and his girl friend.  Did Frederick get taken, and for the last 48 years has been a captive of aliens; or was this a tragic accident that took the life of a young man? We may never know.  Thanks for joining us today! Episode 86: Shi Yang: The Pirate Queen:

Send us Fan Mail This week we are looking at one badass woman. Piracy has been made to seem romantic in today's media, and honestly this woman does not help.  After the death of her first husband, Shi Yang took control of his confederation of pirates. With six fleets, hundreds of boats and thousands of men at her disposal Shi Yang grew in power over the few years she ran the fleets.  However, the Chinese government reached out to foreign powers that brought more then the pirates wanted to continue to fight. Seeing a chance to use their power to get out of the game, the pirates would retire, but that would not be the end of Shi Yang's story.   ROH EP 86 Source Notes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zheng_Yi_Sao https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanka_people Thanks for joining us today! Episode 85: The Year Without a Summer:

Send us Fan Mail One of our favorite podcast has a saying, "The 1800s of it all." I don't think there is a better phrase for this story, which takes place in 1816.  After a few years of volcanic eruptions, a ton of volcanic debris filled the atmosphere. After one of the largest eruptions to date, the next several months saw abnormal weather that led to famine and riots.  Not everything that came out of this year was terrible; however, art and innovation had time to evolve, giving us some of the most famous works of art ever.  ROH EP 85 Source Notes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Without_a_Summer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volcanic_explosivity_index https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1815_eruption_of_Mount_Tambora https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atmosphere https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stratosphere https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berkeley_Earth https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yangtze_Valley https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_England_temperature https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tephra https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draisine Thanks for joining us today!
