    HTWDT Episode 36: Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) and Black Phone 2 (2025)

    Hey Whole Damn Family hope you all are had a great holiday season.  This episode is a treat! We start by discussing how angry Mom is with us about our recent treatment of Vin Diesel. Then we jump right into Wes Craven's classic Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), the movie that started a phenomenon. There are some great behind-the-scenes bits here and a lot of fun riffing on Johnny Depp (it's his first movie) and how much of a "Blanche DuBois" mess Nancy's mom is. After the lobby break we get into the ever creepy character of Ethan Hawke's, The Grabber with Black Phone 2 for our spoiler free review, and then come back to spoil the whole damn thing. The turn of the Millennium brought us a fun sci-fi monster movie called Pitch Black (2000) and Vin Diesel, without which we would not have such strong Family values, and we wouldn't have the Fast and the Furious movies either, so thank you, universe, for supplying us with those. We paired this one with Dan Trachtenberg's box office success, Predator Badlands (2025). You may not think it, but these movies are both about family.     HTWDT 34: Society (1992) Together (2025)

    Hey, Whole Damn Family. We recorded this one out of order so we could squeeze in our Thanksgiving episode. On this one, we get physical with Brian Yuzna's crazy movie Society (1992). Nothing to see here, nothing strange going on, just keep your hands and feet inside the cart until we pass the shunting lest you be dragged in. We also discuss what we like in our tea...or rather what a character is asked about tea. Don't worry we don't kink shame here! But wow, is this full of Booty Calls. After the shunting, we move onto the enabling co-dependent millennial piece Together (2025) from director Michael Shanks where we learn what not to do in a relationship. But regardless of the wordy names, it's a double helping of director Eli Craig. First, his (2010) feature debut, Tucker and Dale vs Evil, which, let's be honest, is a horror comedy classic.     HTWDT Episode 30: The Conjuring (2013) and The Conjuring Last Rites (2025)

    Hey whole Damn Family. It's time we conjure up a double dose of the Warrens. Everyone's favorite paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine. This is true stuff! No one could make this up. It's not Hollywood fakery; this is real life, true things that happened to real people and were documented truthfully, and also it's true that it's true. It's like super realistic truth. We start with the true story of The Conjuring (2013) and the Perron family, and finish with the case that was so true it made them stop fighting for the truth. Yes, that's right. The Conjuring: Last Rites (2025) is about the Smurl family. As I write this, I can't believe we didn't make a Family Feud joke. At any rate, here for your Shocktober enjoyment is some true horror.
