An nner sanctum where Fantasy–Sci-fi-Horrordom boils...

...boils down, into an essential goo worthy of the podcast pantheon! These 4 podcast men of the monster apocalypse spew boundless knowledge of all things that are Monster-Fantasy and SciFi. Through an unholy alliance of demon booze, dripping sarcasm, sarcastic interruption bombs and keen insight, they couple this with no doubt many lifetimes of viewing behind them. These four 50-ish lads tell tales of yesteryears while tapping a deep well from their many moons of watching the classics and lesser known of the genre’s movies books and collectables. If you think I am being wordy, you MUST listen to them, as they are never at a loss for words, descriptions, details, and opinions (oh the opinions). Lots of fun, frolic (did I mention occasional demon booze?) and special guests always abound at the inner sanctum where Cthulhu surely has planted his seeds into them. Now if they would only get to that Battlestar Galactica episode...

As a long time fan and cap wearer/coaster–user of the Monster Party brand, I, Fred Barringer in CT, I say to all potential listeners, plant your podcasting flag here and Invade....Invade.... INVADE!

The Best Party Podcast

Monster Party Podcast is everything it says it is in the title. It’s a lively podcast discussing monsters of every kind and in every medium. The hosts, Matt, Shawn, James and Larry (in no particular order) and their expert guests trade facts and opinions on genre movies, books, tv sows, comics and graphic novels. Each episode is a unique take on the subject. Some of my favorites are their “Who Would Win” shows with topical debates over whether Popeye could defeat Superman (absolutely) or the Bride of Chucky could defeat the Bride of Frankenstein. They all know their stuff including details on characters, actors, artists, directors, makeup, cinematography and even soundtracks and scores. It’s highly educational in that sense but also a party in every other. The podcast flows like a kitchen conversation among best friends at a dinner party. Fueled by a true love of the genre and a few adult beverages, it is full of wit, sharp commentary, friendly jibes and inside jokes. I’m relatively late to the genre, I was the opposite of a monster kid growing up in the 60s, but I’m glad I finally made it to this party. Larry, James, Shawn and Matt (in no particular order) are most excellent hosts, going out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and at home in the conversation.

The (Un)-Official Monster Party Drinking Game

To best get into the spirit of the show, take a drink of choice for any of the following moments:

- Raucous Laughter
- “Tonight’s topic is...”
- Demon booze
- The guest is interrupted
- “Let’s save it for our [xxxx] show...”
- James doesn’t know what Star Trek is
- Shawn is stumped
- Matt says “I’m not familiar”
- Larry says “mint in box”
- Anytime someone mentions Night of the Lepus

Play along at home and you might be as funny as the hosts!

Great show. Only problem is that Larry doesn’t get to talk enough.

- Jake and Luke Stroth
