Paranormia

Although the content is good, it is very obviously written by AI. The language pattern is awkward and overly flowery that makes no sense in that AI sort of way. She says thing like “that stuck with me” after trivial things or “it wasn’t this, it was that” which are key AI phrases. After listening to several episodes it becomes annoyingly redundant. It’s so disappointing that our world has an abundance of talented writers and journalists, but we are forced to listen to machine created blandness. I also wouldn’t call most of the stories paranormal. They are mostly just true crime, which is fine but maybe not for a podcast that is supposed to be about the paranormal. I also agree with the other reviews that mention the screech noise during pauses is truly awful in headphones, especially for those of us with migraines.

I love the show. Some episodes are definitely better than others but that’s completely understandable. I just wanted to give my one point of friction for me. Im an audio engineer….I love the sound design and her voice is perfect for this type of show. Thing is whenever the music is playing and she starts speaking the music lowers dramatically. Even if she only stops for a second or 2 the music will come back in creating this Pumping effect. I know whats happening, the engineer is using a “ducking” technique but has made it very noticeable on headphones. No hate on the show at all just something that keeps me from listening on headphones because its very noticeable. But on the phone speakers its fine.

Repetitive interviews, I thought I was re-listening to entire episodes. Unrelated content and not much insight on Russ. Sounds effects are not necessary and distracting.

The podcast starts so well! And the content is great and seems well researched. I can’t get through more than a few minutes at a time because of the distortion effect used to make it seem scary unique. Hopefully this is a simple edit made that can make this a more pleasant listening experience.
