Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (Pt. 2)

And now…. the thrilling conclusion! Laura puts the ominous painting up, and it gives her a Black Lodge Dream. We learn the following: the little man is The Arm, and he sounds like thishe and the Tremonds/Chalfonts want her to take that green ring, but Dale says NOT to.dead Annie appears in her bed and tells her: “I've been with Dale and Laura. the good Dale is in the lodge and he can't leave. write it in your diary.”It's terrifying! The next evening, Laura is going out tricking/partying with Jacques Renault, and Donna insists on coming with. (also on the way the log lady gives her a heartbreaking log lady intro prophecy.) Laura is like fine Donna come if you want, you can't handle this, f**k you, but then when seeing Donna get date raped, freaks out and takes her home. there's a lot more to the scene but we'll get to it.  Leland picks Laura up from Donna's, and while they're driving, MIKE shows up and screams at Leland about creamed corn and “the thread will be torn”. Leland remembers killing Teresa banks after setting up a threesome with her and then realizing it was with Laura. That night, Laura goes to buy cocaine with Bobby, which turns out to be from the s****y deer meadow deputy which I only realized now on like my 4th viewing, and Bobby kills him. Now things get really grim. Leland/BOB drugs Sarah and assaults Laura, during which she finally sees that BOB is truly Leland. the angel in Laura's painting disappears. Laura sobs all day in school and no one cares. and then it's the beginning of the end we know: she meets with James, tells him his Laura went away, that he doesn't know her, that she loves him, then runs off to meet with ronette, Leo, and Jacques. Leo and Jacques rape ronnette and Laura, then Leland shows up, knocks out Jacques, and Leo flees.  Leland takes the girls to the train car, followed by MIKE. Bob tells Laura he wants to possess her. Ronette is saved by a guardian angel. MIKE tosses The Ring into the train car, then leaves. Laura puts the ring on, which seems to either force BOB to kill her or prevent him from possessing her. either way, he kills her.  After dumping her body, wrapped in plastic, BOB goes to the black lodge via Glastonbury Grove. MIKE and the arm demand all their “garmonbozia (pain and sorrow)”, which BOB manifests as blood from a hovering puppet Leland, which seems to turn into creamed corn. Laura's body is found and a monkey whispers “Judy”. In a final scene that makes me cry every time, Laura is now in the Lodge with Dale, sobbing, and then her angel appears. crying, smiling, laughing, and crying some more, she finds a glimpse of sublime beauty in the heart of unimaginable suffering.  ⁂ Support the show on Patreon for early access and exclusive movie discussion episodes Follow the show on Bluesky Questions? Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (Pt. 1)

Hi everyone! Time to cry watching the best movie ever made! So first things first, we spend the first half hour following FBI agent CHET DESMOND as he investigates the Teresa Banks in Deer Meadow murder a year before Laura Palmer dies. He gets intro’d to the case by Gordon Cole via Dancing Clue Girl, and then the case swiftly goes nowhere as he is rebuffed by every resident of Deer Meadow, which seems to be like an anti-Twin Peaks. Then, when reaching for Teresa's special green ring under a trailer, he disappears!!! Around the same time, at the FBI field office in Philadelphia, Dale Cooper is looking at himself in the security camera because of an unsettling dream he had, when suddenly, “the long lost Phillip Jeffries” appears, played by David Bowie. He says: I'm not gonna talk about Judy. Now who do you think that is there?! (pointing to dale)I've been to one of their meetings. It was above a convenience store. We live inside a dream!and then disappears – or was never there? The scene is overlaid with a nightmarish sequence of “Lodge Entities”, seemingly above said convenience store, where the following things happen: Ms Tremond and her grandson are there. the grandson says “fell a victim” pointing at BOB.The Arm says “this is a formica table. green is its color” and “with this ring i thee wed”A guy in a weird mask jumps and says “electricity”Afterwards, Dale goes to the trailer park where “let's rock!” has been written on Desmond's car. He tells Albert that he's sure the killer will strike again, but knows not where or when.  Heartbreaking smash cut to: TWIN PEAKS, ONE YEAR LATER. The intro song plays as Laura walks to school with Donna, does cocaine, and meets Bobby and James. She gives a heartbreaking speech to Donna about falling in space forever and the angels are all gone. She then finds pages ripped out from her secret diary, freaks out and gives the rest to Harold, who doesn't believe her about BOB and all that. She says BOB wants to be her and she has a flash of a scary possessed makeup face.  While Laura is preparing to do meals on wheels, Ms Tremond (or Chalfont) and her grandson give her an ominous painting and a message that “the man behind the mask” is looking for her secret diary. She runs home in a panic, finds BOB in her room who snarls at her, then runs out in a panic. When she sees Leland emerge from the house, she realizes he might be BOB. That evening, Leland seems to punish Laura for this by tormenting her at dinner about being filthy and having to wash her hands.  PART TWO of our Fire Walk With Me coverage will be out NEXT WEEK! ⁂ Support the show on Patreon for early access and exclusive movie discussion episodes Follow the show on Bluesky Questions? Twin Peaks S2E22: Beyond Life and Death

WE MADE IT GANG!! And our reward: one of the best episodes of television ever aired. Half its runtime is a nightmare sequence of Dale Cooper walking in and out of 2 identical rooms witnessing a carousel of visions ranging from unsettling to profoundly horrifying. And it's all held together by a profound return of sauce that the show has been missing and an insistence on bringing tragedy and horror back to Twin Peaks. Let's get the B plots out of the way first. Nadine’s head bonk did bring her memories back, but she's forgotten all about Mike the snake, in a scene that is shocking for how much it's played for straight-faced, tragic pathos. Likewise, Donna's “is Ben my dad” plotline’s only resolution is Doc Hayward punching out Ben Horne, which is convincingly played as upsetting and horrific. Audrey chains herself to the Twin Peaks Bank to protest Ghostwood, which also happens to be where there's a safety deposit box that Andrew Packard realizes the key from the ingot opens up. Inside that safety deposit box: a bomb! Which kills? Everyone? And a replay of the pilot's intro scene to the diner is interrupted when Sarah Palmer returns to deliver a spirit message to Garland Briggs: “I'm in the Black Lodge with Dale Cooper. I'm waiting for you.” Speaking of, Dale follows Windom and Annie into the Black Lodge, which turns out to be the red room from his dream way back in episode 2. He sees the Man From Another Place, the little man from his dream, dance to a soulful jazz song. He sees Laura Palmer, who tells him she'll see him again in 25 years. He sees the old waiter and/as the giant, who brings him coffee, which the Man From Another Place seems to freeze solid then transform into burnt oil. He sees Maddy, who says to watch out for her cousin. He sees a version of the Man From Another Place with cataract-white eyes who says “doppelganger” threateningly. He sees a similarly cataracted doppelganger Laura who does the worst scream in the world. He runs away and realizes he's bleeding. He sees his dead body next to Annie's. He sees Annie, except she's Caroline, except she’s Annie, except she's evil Laura, except she's Windom Earle. Windom says he'll let Annie live in exchange for Dale's soul. Dale immediately agrees. BOB appears and kills Windom Earle. Dale runs away as an Evil Dale doppelganger emerges. Dale sees a Leland Palmer doppelganger who says “I did not kill anybody”. Dale runs and runs and runs from his doppelganger but gets caught. BOB’s face laughs horribly. A full day later, Harry sees Dale and Annie having reemerged from the Black Lodge, both passed out. The next morning, “Dale” “wakes up”, and says he needs to brush his teeth. In the bathroom, he slams his head into the mirror, revealing BOB in his reflection, and repeats “How’s Annie? How’s Annie? How’s Annie?”, heralding the return of evil in the form of Dale Cooper. ⁂ Support the show on Patreon for early access and exclusive movie discussion episodes Follow the show on Bluesky Questions? Twin Peaks S2E21: Miss Twin Peaks

Leo frees Garland Briggs from the clutches of Windom Earle so that he can “save Shelly”. As a punishment, Windom puts Leo in “the spider contraption”. Garland wanders his way to giving Dale some cryptic clues. Dale, who by the way had sex, finally goes oh my god I need to go to the Miss Twin Peaks pageant, having seemingly really just entirely ignored the more obvious clue the Giant gave him last episode. And what do you know, Annie wins the pageant and is immediately kidnapped by Windom Earle, in a sequence where the show gives us its best and its worst, serving really cool strobe light effects and really bad transmisogyny. Speaking of the pageant, most of our B-plots happen there too: Donna confronts Ben and he doesn't say he's her dad, but she does, so make of that what you will. Lucy chooses Andy as her baby daddy, but he's gotta find Dale to tell him his Petroglyph Discovery. Audrey is strong-armed by Beninto giving a Tree Speech, and Lana does a Racist Dance.  As for non-pageant B-plots: Andrew finally shoots open the final ingot puzzle box, revealing…a key!!!! Nadine gives an epic Powerpoint about how good she is at wrestling, but is jealous about Ed and Norma getting married.  ⁂ Support the show on Patreon for early access and exclusive movie discussion episodes Follow the show on Bluesky Questions? Twin Peaks S2E20: The Path to the Black Lodge

Windom Earle is playing OFF THE BOARD! Which mostly means he’s abandoned his whole chess-murder-revenge-on-Dale thing – which the show retcons as having been just a ruse the whole time – to focus on his true passion, Getting Into The Black Lodge. To that end, he dresses up as a horse with Leo to kidnap Garland Briggs and gets really good at Photoshop. Coop continues to just... have meetings about how Windom Earle is messed up, and keeps romancing Annie, wilfully oblivious to all the clues that he’s getting Spiritually Doomed. And speaking of: the spirits are back! They're making everyone's hand shake and spooky_drone.mp3 play! Meanwhile: Audrey and Jack have a tearful, sexy farewell. Donna keeps finding “Is Ben My Dad” clues without it really going anywhere. Thomas Eckhardt opens Catherine's box; inside he finds another box, and inside THAT box... some sort of ingot? And the Miss Twin Peaks contest is happening real soon, for real you guys, we promise! ⁂ Support the show on Patreon for early access and exclusive movie discussion episodes Follow the show on Bluesky Questions? Twin Peaks S2E19: Variations On Relations

Hey listener, do you think Windom Earle’s plans had enough moving pieces yet? OF COURSE NOT! So he puts one of the background guys from Wayne’s World in a giant chess piece, shoots him with a crossbow, and leaves him as a gift at the gazebo where he saw Dale and Annie going on an obscenely romantic date. Meanwhile: Pete tells Catherine that Andrew Eckhard’s epic puzzle box will take YEARS to open, but then he drops it and it opens…. to reveal ANOTHER PUZZLE BOX!!! The Miss Twin Peaks Contest is the site of many contestations, such as Bobby being a s******d to Shelly, Ben trying to make it Environmental, and Lana trying to sex-magic her way into a guaranteed win. Dick Tremayne hosts a wine-tasting event. Donna confronts her parents about the Ben Horne Secret but it doesn’t go anywhere. Audrey’s boy Jack does go somewhere though – but where?? ⁂ Support the show on Patreon for early access and exclusive movie discussion episodes Follow the show on Bluesky Questions? Comments? Twin Peaks S2E18: On the Wings of Love

The cliffhanger from last episode resolves into a bizarre sex assassination and then is never mentioned again. Weird LOL! Anyway! Dale and Harry have more pressing things on their plates, such as: Windom Earle schemes to kill the winner of the Miss Twin Peaks Contest, their Completely Innocent Bonsai Gift, and checking out a spooky cave. Gordon Cole is back in town, immediately reinstates Coop back into the FBI, and then they both fall in love with diner babes. Meanwhile: Audrey is gonna go on a “full f*****g flight and dinner” with Jack but gets redirected to becoming the Horne Business New Good Deeds Lady. She also teams up with Donna a bit to investigate Ben’s mysterious dealings with Donna’s mom. Donna gets a postcard from James. Coop REALLY hits it off with Annie, and Andy and Windom Earle do some crazy shit to a cave. ⁂ Support the show on Patreon for early access and exclusive movie discussion episodes Follow the show on Bluesky Questions? Twin Peaks S2E17: Wounds and Scars

Windom Earle has upped his costume budget HUGELY, busting out 2 frankly convincing disguises to phreak out Donna and spy on Shelly and Dale. Also he’s so mad that Dale is outsourcing his chess to Pete. But Dale has no time for chess! He has to listen to the Log Lady tell him about triangles. Harry is not taking Josie’s death well, and spends the whole episode in “Sicko Mode”. Then Eckhard’s former assistant tries to sleep with him I guess. Meanwhile: Norma’s sister Annie arrives in town! Coop loves her coffee, and maybe also her big blue eyes?? Andy doesn’t know jack about chess. Audrey does know Jack, and they go on a picnic. Nadine and Ed go to divorce therapy. Ben is seemingly actually reformed? And DICK TREMAYNE is back to MC The Stop Ghostwood Save The Weasel Fashion Show, in which Andy and Lucy SLAY!!!!!!! and the beloved weasel runs amok!!! ⁂ Support the show on Patreon for early access and exclusive movie discussion episodes Follow the show on Bluesky Questions?
