If you started stuttering after being abused, do this.

If you need someone to talk to about all of this, you can always send me an email at support@unfilteredd.net or schedule a session with me: https://unfilteredd.net/support/   About Us:   Hi, it's Juliana!   I grew up around narcissistic people and spent decades of my life struggling because of it.   But I honestly had no idea.   I knew something wasn't right.   But I didn't really have the words for any of it.   Then I met my husband Elijah in a café in Rauma, Finland.   He also had narcissistic people in his life, but he had a better understanding of it.   So when I started opening up to him, he was always there for me.   He listened, helped me work through things, and stuck with me when I struggled.   Two years after we met, we were sitting with a friend of ours who was getting out of an abusive relationship.   This friend made a joke like:   “So all I need to do is find someone who loves me like Elijah loves you.”   I laughed, but Elijah didn't.   I can't remember exactly what he said, but it was something like:   “You don't need someone to love you.”   And then he went on to explain how the person who had helped him was a woman he met while he was living in Spain.   She was in her 70s. He wasn't sure if her name was María or Marina.   And they often had to use Google Translate to communicate.   There's a lot more to that story, but the point is: they weren't in love.   They just had this shared experience with narcissistic abuse.   And having someone actually believe him, understand him, and help him changed everything.   So if you were to ask me:   “What's the story behind Unfilteredd?”   That's it!   My entire life changed after I met Elijah.   I thought it was because I fell in love with him.   But it wasn't.   It was because:   1.) I finally understood what I was going through. 2.) I figured out what I could do about it. 3.) I had someone there for me through all of it.   Once Elijah and I realized this, there was no question about what we wanted to do next.   I left my career as a lawyer, he left his career as a soccer player, and we started Unfilteredd to create a space where you can find the same guidance and support I found in Elijah.   Only instead of it coming from an "Elijah," it comes from a licensed mental health professional who has both personal and professional experience with this type of abuse.   Thank you so much for reading all of this!   Juliana   Today's Episode: In today's episode, we're going to explain why some people start stuttering after experiencing narcissistic abuse and walk you through the steps you can take to start changing this.   Disclaimer: This episode of the Unfilteredd: Narcissistic Abuse Podcast is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for medical, mental health, or legal advice.

How to Explain Abuse That Doesn’t Sound Like Abuse - Ep 23

If you're feeling stuck or unsure what to do next, you can sign up for a free one-on-one session with a professional from our team here: https://unfilteredd.net/support/ In today’s episode, Juliana talks about why it’s so hard to explain narcissistic abuse and shows you a simple way to make sense of what happened so you don’t feel so confused when you try to talk about it.   The Translation App   Purpose: To help you find the words to explain what you’ve been through. Instructions: Grab a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle. On the left side, write what you want to say, the way it usually comes out. On the right side, write what’s happening beneath the surface. Example: On the left: “They said I’m too sensitive.” On the right: “They dismissed my feelings so they wouldn’t have to acknowledge how they were treating me.” On the left: “They said I was always making things about me.” On the right: “They shamed me for expressing my needs so I'd focus on theirs.” Pro Tip: The fastest and most effective way to create your own translations is to ask an AI tool like ChatGPT or Gemini the following: “When a narcissistic person says ‘[blank]’ or does ‘[blank]’, what might be happening beneath the surface?” It’s always good to verify the response, but in my experience, AI can do a great job at helping you name what’s going on. Final Thoughts: The goal of this exercise is to translate as much as you can. When you find words for what you’ve experienced, it stops being a mess in your head and becomes something you can explain — to yourself and to others.
