Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: A Complete Role Model for Life #AMAR

In this lecture, Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan explores the exemplary character and manners (akhlaq) of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, emphasizing how he serves as the perfect role model in all aspects of life. Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan discusses the Prophet's names and their meanings, his physical beauty as described by the companions, and most importantly, his character which Allah praised highly in the Quran. This lecture distinguishes between two types of good manners: etiquettes with Allah (khulq ma'Allah) - including sincerity, remembrance, prayer, and repentance - and etiquettes with people (khulq ma'al-khalq). The Prophet excelled in both, never using vulgar speech, always expressing love to those close to him, and maintaining justice without double standards. Ustadh highlights numerous qualities of the Prophet ﷺ including his bravery in battle, his humility despite his status, his gratitude to those who helped him (especially his wife Khadija), and his aesthetic lifestyle (zuhd). Through various hadith and stories, Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan illustrates how the Prophet was the best to his family, forgave those who wronged him, and lived simply despite often going hungry. The message emphasizes that true goodness lies in perfecting one's manners, as the Prophet said he was sent to perfect the character of people. Muslims are encouraged to study his life, follow his example, and be grateful for the blessings they have, recognizing that good character with Allah must come before good character with people. Ask Yourself, Is Your Income Truly Halal? || Ustadh AbdulRahman Hassan #AMAR

In this lecture, Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan begins by laying down a foundational principle: Islam was revealed to secure human welfare, benefit in both dunyā and ākhirah; by bringing and completing benefits (maṣāliḥ) and removing or reducing harms (mafāsid), while also lifting hardship from people. Because Allah created humanity and legislated the religion, the rulings are inherently compatible with what truly benefits us. From there, Ustadh mentions that buying and selling (muʿāmalāt) is not a side topic in Islam; it’s part of the religion just like ṣalāh and ṣawm. Therefore, anyone engaging in transactions whether running a business or simply purchasing daily items needs at least a basic level of knowledge of what is ḥalāl and ḥarām, especially regarding ribā, because ignorance in trade is often negligence, not a valid excuse. Ustadh supports this with narrations and statements: A warning that many traders will be resurrected as sinners except those who have taqwā, uprightness, and truthfulness. The idea that honesty and clarity in transactions bring barakah, while lying and concealing defects removes barakah. Reports that ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb would not allow people to sell in the marketplace unless they had fiqh knowledge of trade. Statements from scholars like Imām al-Nawawī stressing that whoever wants to trade must learn its conditions and distinguish valid contracts from invalid ones. Finally, he emphasizes a practical solution: if someone can’t study deeply, they should consult scholars or place qualified Sharīʿah oversight (raqabah/sharīʿah board) over contracts because the goal is to ensure one’s income is pure, avoid feeding one’s family ḥarām, and prevent harm from spreading into the community.
