Go, Then Decide with Maria Kamau

💬 message Denise https://ignite2026.lovable.app/ Join this IGNITE: The Inner Uprising ™ waitlist here - excited to see you in real life 😍❤️ What if the thing keeping you home isn't the cost of the ticket or the fear of getting lost, but the belief that someone else has to plan it for you first? Maria Kamau has spent 37 years proving that belief wrong. She has travelled to 100 countries across five continents on a Kenyan passport, all while working full time as a health data specialist for over 20 years. For part of that career she ran her own travel agency and helped more than 300 people plan trips they'd been putting off. Then she noticed that the women who came to her needed more than a booking. They needed the confidence to plan their own trips on their own terms. In 2022 she stepped into travel coaching, and she has since guided close to 20 women from "I don't know how to do this" to "I know exactly what I'm doing." Maria is an ICF certified travel coach. In this conversation we talk about why so many women say "I'll travel when I retire," and why the best time is usually now. We get into the guilt women carry about spending their own money and time on themselves. Maria shares the story of a client who travelled for a decade without ever booking her own flight, and what happened once she did. We also cover how to understand yourself as a traveller, how to choose travel companions wisely, and why solo travel can show you who you are away from everyone who knows you. Maria's advice on starting small, with a nearby city or a friend abroad, makes the first step feel doable. She also takes on the biggest misconceptions about international travel, including safety, cost, and who travel is "for." Not Yours to Fix with Judy Kane

💬 message Denise https://ignite2026.lovable.app/ Join this IGNITE: The Inner Uprising ™ waitlist here - excited to see you in real life 😍❤️ What if the block holding you back isn't yours to fix, but yours to release? In this episode of Thrive After 45®, Denise Drinkwalter sits down with Judy Kane, a mindset transformation specialist who helps women and men change the subconscious beliefs quietly shaping their lives. Judy spent years in IT before this work found her, and she still sees it through that lens: when a system isn't giving you the results you want, you find the code that isn't working and change it. Together they explore where limiting beliefs come from, why most of them are in place by the age of seven, and how those early beliefs drive up to 95% of our behaviour well into midlife. Judy explains why changing a single subconscious belief can take less than five minutes, what "secondary benefits" are and how they can keep us stuck, why so many women make decisions based on what they want to avoid rather than what they truly want, and why this kind of change does not have to re-traumatize you. For every woman over 45 who knows there is something more but can't yet name it, this conversation offers a gentle, practical place to begin. Since 2011, Judy has worked with between 750 and 1,000 clients, now entirely online, helping them release what she calls head trash about their worth, their bodies, their fears and their businesses.  Judy is the author of Your4Truths: How Beliefs Impact Your Life, available at https://www.amazon.com/Your4Truths-Beliefs-Impact-Your-Life/dp/1737263815/.  You can find her work at Aligned Consciousness, https://www.alignedconsciousness.com/, and download her free resources, including 7 Signs Your Subconscious Is Running the Show, at https://www.alignedconsciousness.com/resources/. Who Knows You're Phenomenal? with Nicole Johnston

💬 message Denise https://ignite2026.lovable.app/ Join this IGNITE: The Inner Uprising ™ waitlist here - excited to see you in real life 😍❤️ Please note: this episode contains mild language. What is really standing in the way of women's advancement? Nicole Johnston spent thirty years in the corporate world leading sales and marketing for consumer products companies including Procter & Gamble, Hershey, and Kimberly-Clark, and along the way she watched talented women get overlooked, underpaid, and pigeonholed. Today she is an executive and leadership coach, the founder of innatePOWER™, and the author of Taboo Topics: Things Women Should Talk About, But Don't. In this conversation, Nicole explains why so many women over 45 grew up doing excellent work quietly, and why that habit means the people around us rarely know what we're good at or what we want next. She shares practical ways to start being seen, from naming what you're exemplary at to keeping an "attagirl" folder that makes your annual review easier and your confidence steadier. We talk about the mental load at work and at home, how to hand off an entire job without taking it back, and why letting go of the gold star is one of the most freeing things a woman can do. You'll also hear Nicole's favourite phrase for handling assumptions and sexism with calm, the real difference between a coach, a mentor, and a sponsor (women are over-mentored and under-sponsored), how to cultivate a sponsor, and how to choose leadership roles outside of work that don't quietly turn into menial tasks. Her closing reminder is one to carry with you: when you do something that feels disruptive, you're doing it for yourself and for every woman coming after you. You Hold the Key with Parita Kuttappan

Parita Kuttappan spent over 16 years inside corporate America in human resources before stepping away to found Awarify Coaching, an executive and mindset coaching practice for professional women and working parents. In under five years, she's guided nearly 90 people through guilt, boundaries, leadership and burnout, helping them find their own next step rather than handing them a map. In this conversation, Parita and Denise talk about why women are so often taught to give everything away before filling their own cup first, how a values exercise can reveal where your actions and your actual priorities have quietly drifted apart, and why almost no decision in life is as final as it feels. Parita also shares her own turning point: waking at 4:30am for global calls while pregnant with her second child, and the moment she realized the checklist life wasn't the one she wanted to keep living. Curious where you stand? Love With Nowhere to Go with Tara Porter

💬 message Denise https://ignite2026.lovable.app/ Join this IGNITE: The Inner Uprising ™ waitlist here, excited to see you in real life 😍❤️ What if grief was never something to get over, but something you were meant to learn how to carry? This week, I'm joined by Tara Porter, a certified grief coach who has walked through profound loss of her own, including the death of her daughter Harper and, a year later, her mother, and turned that lived experience into a calling. Through her Instagram platform and community On Fridays We Dance, Tara has touched thousands of women, and this past May she led her first in-person grief retreat with fourteen women in a room together. In this conversation, we talk about why grief and joy were never meant to be opposites, how the body signals grief long before the mind catches up, and how midlife grief shows up in ways we don't always name, like the quiet loss of identity that comes when children grow up and move on. Tara reminds us that grief doesn't come with a finish line, and that you don't have to wait until you're "done" grieving to laugh again, to dance, and to feel alive.  You can find Tara and her Fridays We Dance community on Instagram @taraporterofficial Website: www.magnoliarising.ca CONNECT WITH DENISE DRINKWALTER: Website: denisedrinkwalter.com Instagram: @thethriveafter45podcast Join the IGNITE: The Inner Uprising™ waitlist: ignite2026.lovable.app If this episode moved you, please take a moment to leave a review, it helps this show and its message reach more women exactly when they need it. Your Body Isn't Betraying YOU with Angel Altman

💬 message Denise https://ignite2026.lovable.app/ Join this IGNITE: The Inner Uprising ™ tickets are here - excited to see you in real life 😍❤️ For nearly 30 years, Angel Altman has stood at the bedside as a nurse. But some of her deepest education came from a different kind of classroom: autoimmune disease, hormone shifts, menopause, chronic stress, and a body that kept sending signals she had to learn to read. In this episode of Thrive After 45™, Denise Drinkwalter sits down with Angel, LPN nurse, herbalist, health educator, and founder of Tea of Life Apothecary, to talk about what's really happening underneath the symptoms so many women are told to just live with. Angel breaks down why liver health is one of the biggest drivers of how intensely a woman experiences perimenopause and menopause, how stress and dysregulation can be passed down cellularly for generations before we're even born, and why the nervous system, not willpower, is where lasting change actually begins. She also shares the simple self-love scale she uses with every client, and why learning to apologize to your own body may be the fastest way to calm it. One Question at a Time with Ellen M Busch

💬 message Denise https://ignite2026.lovable.app/ Join this IGNITE: The Inner Uprising ™ waitlist here - excited to see you in real life 😍❤️ What if the body keeps score, and the mind decides who wins? This week on Thrive After 45, Denise Drinkwalter sits down with Ellen M Busch, a former EMT and hyperbaric technician turned certified Unbeatable Mind coach, author, and speaker. Ellen's story starts young: diagnosed as dyslexic at six, written off by her own school system, and told her future was finding a husband rather than an education. That early wound set the stage for decades of being a target, first of bullies, then narcissistic managers, two stalkers, and a marriage that turned violent. Ellen walks Denise through the thirteen year path out, from her surrender point to years of therapy, EMDR, and somatic work, to training for a decade with retired Navy SEAL Commander Mark Divine and his Five Mountain Program, which works the physical, mental, emotional, intuitional, and kokoro (the merging of heart and mind) simultaneously. She talks candidly about her Sheepdog Training, three days of firearms, martial arts, and catastrophic injury training alongside retired Navy SEALs, and the moment an instructor told her to stop apologizing, a lesson that later showed up when she faced down a threatening stranger on a Colorado sidewalk and walked away untouched. This conversation covers trauma recovery, the value of a woman's wisdom, boundary setting as an ongoing practice rather than a one time decision, and Ellen's father's phrase that became her life's compass: one question at a time. Proof Over Permission with Alexandra Dotcheva

💬 message Denise https://ignite2026.lovable.app/ Join this IGNITE: The Inner Uprising ™ waitlist here, excited to see you in real life 😍❤️ We spend so much energy looking for the moment that broke us, when the real work only starts the day we stop looking outward for the blame. In this episode, I sit with Alexandra Dotcheva, a former professional violinist turned nurse, real estate investor, and martial artist, and the author of It Really Is Simple, A Holistic Approach to Self-Confidence. Alexandra played violin for 29 years, starting at age six in Bulgaria, earning her master's and doctoral degrees in the instrument, before a 2008 breakdown at 32 became the crossroads that redirected her entire life. She rebuilt herself from the ground up, training as a nurse, building a real estate portfolio that produces passive income, and earning black belts in martial arts, a dream her father shut down when she was a child. We talk about the 20 year battle with confidence she'd never spoken about publicly until now, why curiosity has to stay at a child's level even as accountability grows into an adult one, and why she believes the worst things that happen to us, we do to ourselves.
