    Finding Steadiness in the Storm

Finding Steadiness in the Storm is a gentle mindfulness practice for those moments when emotion feels strong and it is easy to become swept up in thoughts, tension, or reactivity. Inspired by Thích Nhất Hạnh’s teaching of the tree in a storm, this meditation guides you to find one steady anchor, such as your feet, hands, the support beneath you, a sound, the breath, or a hand over the heart, while allowing the emotion itself to be present. The practice is not about making the feeling disappear. It is about learning how to stay connected to something steady while the feeling moves through, so this becomes a tool you can use in everyday life as well as in meditation. This meditation is part of Softening Inner Tension: 30 Days of Mindfulness, Compassion & Emotional Ease, a free September practice available inside the Peaceful Wellness Skool community. Each day includes a short reflection, one question, and a simple mindfulness practice. Week 3: What Lies Beneath the Reaction?

In this Week 3 reflection for Softening Inner Tension, Deb explores what can happen when we become curious about what may be underneath frustration, anger, overwhelm, or another strong reaction. Drawing from the teachings of Thích Nhất Hạnh, this talk looks at finding steadiness first, then gently looking more deeply. Sometimes beneath the first reaction we may discover hurt, fear, exhaustion, disappointment, an unmet need, or even an assumption about what happened. This week’s invitation is to slow down enough to ask: What might be underneath this reaction? and What do I actually know, and what am I assuming? You do not need to have completed the previous weeks to benefit from this reflection. You can begin wherever you are. Softening Inner Tension: 30 Days of Mindfulness, Compassion & Emotional Ease is available free inside the Skool community. To join the full Softening Inner Tension experience, come into the free Peaceful Wellness Skool community and look for the Softening Inner Tension: 30 Days classroom. One day. One reflection. One small practice at a time. Holding Difficult Emotions with Mindfulness

This gentle meditation explores what it can be like to meet frustration, sadness, irritation, overwhelm, or other difficult feelings with mindfulness and care instead of immediately trying to push them away. Inspired by the teachings of Thích Nhất Hạnh, the practice invites you to notice what is present, create a little space around the feeling, and ask, “How can I care for what is here?” This meditation is part of Softening Inner Tension: 30 Days of Mindfulness, Compassion & Emotional Ease, a free September practice available inside the Peaceful Wellness Skool community. Each day includes a short reflection, one question, and a simple mindfulness practice. Week 2: What Are You Taking In? Caring for What Is Here

In this Week 2 reflection for Softening Inner Tension, Deb explores what it means to meet difficult emotions with care instead of fighting, suppressing, or immediately reacting to them. Drawing from the teachings of Thích Nhất Hạnh, this talk looks at mindfulness as a way of gently recognizing what is present within us and also paying attention to what we are taking in through the day. What we watch, read, listen to, scroll through, and repeatedly expose ourselves to can all affect our inner state. This week’s invitation is to notice what may be nourishing frustration, fear, or overwhelm, and to begin making small, conscious choices that support greater steadiness, compassion, and emotional ease. You do not need to have completed Week 1 to benefit from this reflection. You can begin wherever you are. Softening Inner Tension: 30 Days of Mindfulness, Compassion & Emotional Ease is available free inside the Skool community. Softening Inner Tension — Welcome & Week 1: Coming Back to Yourself

Welcome to Softening Inner Tension: 30 Days of Mindfulness, Compassion & Emotional Ease. In this opening Week 1 reflection, Deb shares the heart of the September practice and explores the idea of coming back to yourself before reacting. Throughout the month, we’ll gently work with frustration, irritability, overwhelm, emotional pressure, and difficult feelings through mindfulness, reflection, compassion, and simple everyday practices. The month is inspired in part by the teachings of Thích Nhất Hạnh and his book Anger: Wisdom for Cooling the Flames, but you do not need to own or read the book to participate. Everything you need will be included in the free Peaceful Wellness Skool classroom. Each day, you’ll find a short reflection, one question to consider, and one small practice designed to take only a few minutes. You can also join live meditation classes throughout the week, the free Tuesday Community Meditation connected with that week’s theme, and access recorded meditations through the meditation libraries. To join the full Softening Inner Tension experience, come into the free Peaceful Wellness Skool community and look for the Softening Inner Tension: 30 Days classroom. One day. One reflection.
