Election day is here. As we got closer and the confidence in a Democratic House and Senate grew, so did the calls for a continuation of what got us here. The ‘Can’t we all get along’ wing of the Democratic party is out in force trying to protect the status quo. I believe the wins for the Dems will be even bigger than people imagined (we’ll know in about 12 hours). I’ve felt all year that 2026 has a great deal in common with 1932. The biggest and most obvious difference being it’s not a presidential election. Otherwise, there is a great deal of similarity. That’s why I have high hopes for the Republican party getting absolutely decimated today. If my hopes are met then the Chuck Schumers and Hakeem Jeffries of Washington, D.C. will be out in front immediately talking about ‘moving on’. They’ll agree to have special committees but they’ll try to re-focus our attention on 2028 immediately. We can’t let them get away with it. We must demand that a new congress does it’s job. We must demand that they use the Constitution and the separation of powers to hold the corrupt accountable in every way possible. Anything else will just mean that today’s victory in numbers will be an ultimate defeat for democracy in America. Because all we’ll have accomplished is the slowing down of our march toward an official authoritarian state. This is a public episode.
