I’m an ancestor nerd and a psychology nerd and a person who has been on my own healing journey, and I feel so privileged to access this intimate, vivid world. Not surprised that the author has a background in visual art, because she really knows how to find the detail that illuminates the scene. I love the voice here, both in terms of tone and author. and I love the way that everyone is held in a gentle field of honesty and accountability, even those who do harm. Sometimes on our road to understand our own wounds, we end up coming to understand the context of those who have loved and hurt us the most. That can be a really powerful gift to ourselves and the ones who come after. I feel really lucky to be invited on this journey!

Melina Mejia Stock is a masterful storyteller. She speaks honestly and poignantly about exploring her family lore. Her voice is so warm, soothing, and she paces everything perfectly. My absolute favorite podcast, can’t recommend enough
