Experimenting at the Escarpment Trail 30K with Sam Cash

Sierra talks with Sam Cash about the mental skills used to prepare for and run the Escarpment Trail Run 30K in 2025. Sam discusses how she was inspired by her community to take on an iconic and challenging race and the mental skills that helped her stay in the present moment, focus on one step at a time, and push to the very end. Sam is an outdoor enthusiast who grew up with New York’s Catskill Park in her backyard. She took a career break when she turned 30 to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail and has been intentional about making time for the mountains ever since - getting out with her local running club and Trail Sisters chapter and volunteering as a trail maintainer with the NY–NJ Trail Conference. Huge shoutout to Sam for sharing her experience and the mental skills that she trained so we can all shatter our next race!
