Ep 27 | August in Uruguay: Noche de la Nostalgia, Independence Day & More 🇺🇾🪩

There’s an Uruguayan tradition that makes you wonder: Why doesn’t every country do this?! Every year on August 24, Uruguay celebrates Noche de la Nostalgia, or Nostalgia Night—a night dedicated to dancing, celebrating, and listening to throwback music from decades past. It’s one of Uruguay’s most fun traditions and it’s become an iconic night in Uruguayan culture. This isn’t just one retro party happening somewhere in Montevideo. Noche de la Nostalgia has become a major cultural tradition celebrated across Uruguay. And because the following day, August 25, is Uruguay’s Independence Day, we’ll also touch on other traditions, and end-of-August happenings. Whether you’re living in Uruguay, visiting in August, or simply curious about Uruguayan culture, let’s get nostalgic. 🪩🇺🇾 If this episode helped you, please like, subscribe, and share your experience in the comments.
