If you’re ready to take just one little step, I will come alongside shining a light for you to keep moving forward   Hi, I’m Terry.  Wife, mother, grandmother, artist, scientist and Bible teacher.  I was wounded!  A wound that was too big, too much!  God knew, and pulled me really close.  He told me “the truth would set me free”.  He was gracious and patient as he walked with me to healing.   I tried to carry all of my hurt alone for over a decade!  I was overwhelmed, struggling, and exhausted.   I finally realized I had to get help.  I had to talk about what was going on in my life.  I had to trust others to speak into my pain, to help me release the burden I was carrying.  I had to take one step at a time to the life God intended for me.   I focused on what I needed.  I found safe people who could help me heal.  My relationships healed and I learned about me, the woman God created.   If you’re ready to stop doing life alone, to let God direct your journey, and to release that burden you’ve been carrying….this podcast is for you!     30 | Peeling away the Layers of My Identity

    Have you ever wondered who you really are beneath all the labels, expectations, and roles you’ve carried? In today’s episode, I share an unexpected lesson God showed me while power washing and scraping paint off an old storage shed. As layers of old paint peeled away, revealing the original wood underneath, I couldn’t help but think about identity—and how often our true selves get covered over by stories we’ve believed, words spoken over us, wounds we’ve carried, and expectations we’ve tried to meet. Sometimes healing begins in the cracks. Sometimes the places that feel broken are the very places where God begins revealing what He created from the beginning.     27 | Hearing and Obeying God's Voice

    In today's episode Terry unpacks two stories of absolute obedience from Acts 9 and 10.   We see Ananias who literally made a decision to go visit Saul knowing that he might lose his life.  Sacrifice is sometimes asked of us as we obey!  And, God's direction may frighten us.  It's okay to ask for clarification, but once you have it, act!  Do what God has asked you to do.   Direction from God often comes unexpectedly.  It may cause us to change direction.  Saul was asked to change his plans and also his life purpose.  Peter changed his thoughts and turned away from what he had been taught....all because God instructed him.   When God speaks it can be an answer to prayer, as we see with Cornelius the centurion.  So, keep praying!  Cornelius saw unbelievable outcomes as a result of his prayers.   What is God saying to you today?  Are you listening?  That's the first part.  Once you hear the next step is to obey.  Take action and watch what God does with your obedience!     26 | God Gives New Life, Hope and Identity

    In today's episode, Terry takes one verse from each chapter of the Bible and conducts an experiment to see if there is a thru-story.  What she finds is that there is a pattern that repeats throughout the Bible. Throughout all of recorded history, man continues to cycle through this pattern: Death / brokenness God speaks People drift Warning Judgment Preservation Humility Faith Hope Victory The Good news is that through it all, God calls a broken, prideful humanity into humility and faith.  He preserves them through discipline and judgment.  He gives them new life, hope and identity in His Son and through His Spirit.  He brings final victory through Jesus. The scriptures Terry uses in this episode are all Chapter 5, verse 5 of the book she mentions. He is an accomplished business leader and therapist; specializing in the areas of sex addiction recovery, intensive therapy, marriage therapy and trauma. Mike has over 20 years of experience as a therapist. He began his work at Bethesda Workshops as a small group therapist in 2017 and later moved into a leadership role before becoming Executive Director.     23 | God Restores Our Broken Pieces

    In This Episode Terry offers encouragement for listeners who feel broken or alone.  She focuses on Jesus’ mission to bind up the brokenhearted and the Psalmist’s reference that God desires truth in my innermost being.  The Japanese art of Kintsugi as a picture of God’s restoration of our brokenness.  Quick fixes and self-sufficiency don’t bring lasting healing.  However, allowing Jesus to restore us slowly and thoughtfully give us a new heart.  The comfort we receive will allow us to then provide comfort to others.  Ultimately our value increases through the process!  Key Scriptures Isaiah 61:1— Bind up the brokenhearted Psalm 51:6—Behold, you desire truth in my innermost being 2 Corinthians 1:3–5.
