Way back in the mid to late 2000s I was stuck in a corporate job that paid well but that I hated because of the long hours, YouTube was just getting started, and I really didn’t have anyone I could turn to for advice. I remember picking up a book on direct response marketing and got so enamored that I signed up for the author’s in person seminar. That was where I learned about information marketing and Internet marketing and basically the whole premise of this event was to learn how to pitch your “info product” with sales copy, either through direct marketing or online, and bring in a ton of sales but with no forethought on the actual product or service itself. In other words, spend all your effort in designing the hook and bait with little to no thought of how you were going to actually reel in a several thousand pound fish into your boat (the execution of the product or service). Well! Probably about 15 years, 100 seminars and online courses and easily $20,000 in “tuition” later, I can confidently say that 99% of what I got was more hook and bait than actual fish. Andrew LaCivita, however, is the real deal.
It was in the middle of lockdown in 2020 and I had just been furloughed. I was looking for help with resume writing. I actually watched maybe a dozen videos on this before Andy’s videos came up in my recommended feed. It wasn’t fancy, it kind of looked like he just set up his iPhone on his desk and started filming, plus the audio wasn’t the best. Plus Andy came off as very subdued like he had just come home from a funeral - pretty much nothing like he is today! But he was short, quick to the point, and gave advice and a perspective on resumes that I’ve never heard about before.
I don’t think I was yet subscribed but I started casually watching his videos. Then I got a notification about a free live 5-day series that Andy was doing on YouTube. I watched the replay for the first day and got really intrigued. I had a weird schedule at this retail job I was working at the time but I wanted to watch it live and I think I got in the 3rd day. The stream was about 2 hours and to my amazement Andy stayed on at the end and answered every question in the chat including mine until the very end. You have to understand that this was in a highly uncertain time everywhere with lockdowns and so much uncertainty with the economy and Covid and everything. But I bit the bullet and signed up for his program.
I’ve been through so many programs offering grandiose promises but little to nothing to show for in actual results. Andy is like the only one to not only give you the hook and bait, he’ll actually get you the fish and help you trawl it on deck and show you how to prepare it for dinner.
Andy says that he’s way more knowledgeable about leadership than he is about job searching. I can tell you that I’ve gone through the resume, interviewing, and job search programs and they are like nothing else on the Internet. They are incredibly detailed and the Q&A sessions at the end will cover every conceivable situation you can possibly think of, including your exact situation and the Q&A will give you advice on how to handle that. In a recorded video. Let that sink in. And, I’m also in the Leadership Monthly program. There are deep dives in so many other areas of life other than job searching that it’s like as amazing as the job searching program is, you’ve only seen one layer of a very large yellow onion that is the Milewalk Academy. And I love onions!
Quite honestly the Signal Strength program caught me by surprise. Just when you thought you’ve seen it all Andy drops some new bombs in something you’ve never before considered. I’m actually really excited for this program and the book when it comes out because so much of what we do and say, or don’t say, can make or break things in life. Communication, or miscommunication, is so important, and Signal Strength will help you hone these skills.
If you’re young and about to get into the workforce, you need to get into Andy’s orbit. If you hate your job or feel like there’s something better out there, you need to get into Andy’s orbit. If you’re a senior level person and your company just axed you, you need to get into Andy’s orbit. If you do Uber or DoorDash and have no intention of ever working for “the man” again, trust me, you can learn something by getting into Andy’s orbit. There’s plenty of things that bootstrapping entrepreneurs and established business owners can learn from Andy.
Things were absolutely chaotic in 2020 and I believe, that with AI and specifically agentic AI, the world of work is going to change very rapidly in the next several years. Do yourself a favor and get into Andy’s orbit!
