B4G Talk Show #44 | Three Generations of Herrin Football & Massac County’s Return to the Playoffs

On this week’s episode of The B4G Talk Show, Episode 44, we had two great segments! In our first segment, we brought together three generations of the Hudson family. We were joined by Scott Hudson, a well-known radio broadcaster in the area who has been with Herrin for a long time, primarily covering Herrin Tigers football and basketball. He has been part of The Sports Voice since the 1990s alongside Mike Murphy. We also had his son, Kyle Hudson, who graduated in 2009 and made the playoffs four times during his high school football career. Kyle also played baseball in high school and is currently an assistant baseball coach at Herrin. Finally, we had junior quarterback Jaxon Hudson, who helped lead Herrin past Harrisburg at home, 24-21, in Week 8 to snap a 19-game losing streak. In our second segment, we were joined by Massac County Patriots head coach Jacob Collins, who is in his fourth season at Massac County. The Patriots have continued to improve steadily over the past four years, going from 1-8 in each of Collins’ first two seasons to 4-5 last year and 5-3 this season. As we enter Week 9, the Patriots have clinched a playoff spot for the first time since 2009, when they were led by head coach Kelly Glass. Alongside Coach Collins was senior running back Dee Carruthers, who has put up some incredible numbers this season. Carruthers has been nominated for our Player of the Week twice and has rushed for more than 1,200 yards on the season. Make sure to tune in! This episode is being released a little later than usual because we had to make a few adjustments. We appreciate your patience and hope you enjoy Episode 44 of The B4G Talk Show!
