The Tylenol Murders | 44 Years Later, Who Was the Killer?

In September 1982, seven people in the Chicago area died after taking Extra-Strength Tylenol capsules laced with cyanide. There was no obvious connection between the victims. No traditional crime scene. No known killer stalking them. Just ordinary people taking a medicine they believed was safe — until investigators discovered something horrifying: someone had deliberately tampered with the capsules. What followed became one of the largest murder investigations in American history. In this episode of Coffee & Crime with Mom, we go back to the beginning of the Tylenol murders — from the first unexplained deaths and Helen Jensen's discovery of the contaminated capsules, to the nationwide panic, the massive investigation, and the people investigators considered along the way. We also examine the investigation surrounding James Lewis, the infamous extortion letter, Roger Arnold, Kevin Masterson, the evidence that did — and did not — connect these men to the murders, and why no one was ever convicted of killing the seven victims. Then we bring the case into 2026. A new development has investigators examining the identity of a man once known only as the Unknown Wanderer — Dr. Mathew Francis Betkouski, a chemist who died from cyanide poisoning in Idaho just months after the Tylenol murders. Investigators have uncovered a number of potentially significant connections, including his chemistry background, references to poison, a connection to Chicago, and cyanide-related evidence. But there is still a crucial gap: investigators have not established that Betkouski was in Chicago when the Tylenol poisonings occurred. So after more than four decades, the central question remains: Who poisoned the Tylenol? This is the story of the victims, the investigation, the suspects, the evidence, and the mystery that still hasn't been solved. ☕ Coffee & Crime with Mom Subscribe, follow, and join us for more true crime cases, investigations, mysteries, and the stories behind the headlines. The Crash That Killed 6: Accident, Medical Emergency… or Murder? | Nicole Linton

⚠️ CONTENT WARNING: This episode discusses a fatal car crash, the deaths of six people, including a child and an unborn baby, and the resulting murder case. Some details may be difficult to hear. Please take care while listening, and pause if needed. On August 4, 2022, a devastating crash at the intersection of Slauson Avenue and La Brea Avenue in Windsor Hills, Los Angeles, claimed the lives of six people. Behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz was nurse Nicole Linton. Prosecutors allege Linton was driving at an extremely high speed before running a red light and crashing into multiple vehicles. Six people were killed, including Asherey Ryan, her 11-month-old son Alonzo, her boyfriend Reynold Lester, and Ryan's unborn child, as well as Nathesia Lewis and Lynette Noble. But what happened behind the wheel has become the central question in the case. The defense has argued that Linton experienced a medical emergency, including a possible seizure or loss of consciousness, causing her to lose control of the vehicle. Prosecutors dispute that explanation and have presented evidence they say shows Linton remained conscious and continued driving before the collision. Now, years after the Windsor Hills crash, Nicole Linton is facing a murder trial. In this episode of Coffee & Crime with Mom, we break down the timeline of the crash, the victims, the evidence surrounding Linton's driving, the competing explanations for what happened, and the questions at the center of the case. Was this a tragic crash caused by a medical emergency, or does the evidence support the murder charges? Join Nicholle and Zalle as they take a closer look at the Nicole Linton case. Saylor Hayes | The Search, The Tragedy & The Questions Left Behind

Five-year-old Saylor Hayes disappeared while her family was staying near Pawleys Island, South Carolina, on August 30, 2026. Saylor had been enrolled in Project Lifesaver—a program intended to help locate vulnerable people who may wander. As authorities searched for her, they tried to detect the signal from her assigned transmitter. They couldn’t find it in South Carolina. Deputies found the transmitter more than 300 miles away in Virginia. In this episode of Coffee and Crime with Mom, Nicholle tells Zalle the Saylor Hayes case for the first time. Zalle deliberately went into the recording without researching the case, so you’ll hear her questions and reactions as the story unfolds. We follow the investigation from Saylor’s disappearance and the massive search for her, through the discovery of her transmitter in Virginia, her tragic recovery the following morning, the arrest warrants for her parents, and earlier court and child-welfare cases involving the family in Virginia. Investigators allege Saylor’s parents knew she was not wearing her Project Lifesaver transmitter and nevertheless encouraged authorities to use the tracking system during the search. The warrants also contain allegations concerning supervision near water and the direction of search efforts. John Herb Hayes III and Geordyn Nichole Hayes have not been charged with murdering Saylor. The allegations against them have not been proven in court, and both are presumed innocent. This episode was recorded September 2, 2026, while the investigation was still developing. Information released after our recording may not be reflected in the episode. 🎙️ Coffee and Crime with Mom What is the first question you would want investigators to answer? #SaylorHayes #CoffeeAndCrimeWithMom #TrueCrime #TrueCrimePodcast #ProjectLifesaver
