    Andrew and Peyton review ‘Digger’, the new Tom Cruise vehicle from Alejandro González Iñárritu. Cruise plays Digger Rockwell, a fat, balding oil billionaire so powerful that the president bows to him. After an environmental catastrophe he repeatedly ignored sends a wall of ice floating toward Europe, Digger must manage the political fallout. Digger got us into this mess. Can he dig us out? From the Oscar-winning team behind ‘Birdman’ and ‘The Revenant’, ‘Digger’ is a comedy-drama featuring a version of Tom Cruise you’ve never seen before. Peyton and Andrew dig into the movie’s themes and the real life merger(s) that could have been ripped from its screenplay.     Possession (1981)

    It’s officially spooky season, and Cinephomaniacs is starting it with a bang! Peyton and Andrew review Andrzej Żuławski’s 1981 cult classic ‘Possession’. Sam Neill (RIP) and Isabelle Adjani play Mark and Anna, a couple living in West Berlin whose marriage is rapidly falling apart. When Anna asks for a divorce and begins exhibiting increasingly strange behavior, Mark suspects she’s seeing another man, but the reality is something beyond his wildest nightmares. ‘Possession’ premiered at the 1981 Cannes Film Festival, where Adjani won the award for Best Actress. Żuławski wrote the film during his own painful divorce. The result is a bizarre mix of drama, horror, action, and sci-fi. The film was banned and censored for years, but you can now watch it from the comfort of your living room. ‘Possession’ is available on Shudder and for free with a public library card on Hoopla and Kanopy.     Resident Evil (2026) feat. Kyle Flynn

    Andrew and Peyton are joined by their friend and fellow film critic Kyle Flynn to review ‘Resident Evil’ in an all new episode of Cinephomaniacs. In the latest movie from Zach Cregger (‘Barbarian’, ‘Weapons’), Austin Abrams plays a hapless organ transport driver unknowingly caught in the first night of a zombie apocalypse.  None of our hosts had ever seen a ‘Resident Evil’ movie before, and they brought a mix of reactions to the newest one.     Onslaught

    Peyton and Andrew review ‘Onslaught’, an action thriller in theaters now. ‘Onslaught’ has been one of their most anticipated movies of the year, and they were ecstatic when A24 invited them to a press screening earlier this month. Adria Arjona (‘Don’t Blink’) stars as a veteran managing a trailer park whose daughter is staying with her for the weekend. When a trio of super soldiers escape a nearby military base and begin killing everything in their path, they soon find they messed with the wrong mom. Dan Stevens (‘Cuckoo’) also stars as the Nazi scientist behind the experiment, and Drew Starkey (‘Outer Banks’) as the government agent trying to cover it up. Adam Wingard (‘The Guest’) directs, returning to horror after directing ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ and ‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’.     The Iron Giant (1999)

    Mmm boy! We mark Andrew’s 30th birthday with a discussion about one of his lifelong favorites, ‘The Iron Giant’! Set in 1950’s Maine, the animated classic follows a precocious and lonely young boy named Hogarth, who desperately wants to make a friend. He soon gets what he wished for in the form of the Giant, a 100-foot-tall metal man. Training a Giant doesn’t prove easy, especially in a Cold War America that sees him only as a threat. The Giant faces a choice: will he be the hero, or the villain the world already sees him as? The movie leaves us with the inspiring message, “You are who you choose to be.” ‘The Iron Giant’ originated as ‘The Iron Man’, a series of bedtime stories told by Ted Hughes to his children. Brad Bird (‘The Incredibles’, ‘Ratatouille’) directed the film adaptation, which was released in 1999. Though it was originally a box office failure, ‘The Iron Giant’ has steadily increased in cult classic status, and it’s now consistently ranked as one of the greatest animated movies of all time.     Teenage WHAT at Camp Miasma?

Hannah Einbinder (‘Hacks’) stars as Kris, a queer horror director tasked with rebooting a classic slasher franchise.     Ghost World (2001) feat. an Interview with Tim Anderson

    We sat down for an in-depth interview with veteran film curator Tim Anderson! Tim shared insight into what goes into programming a film festival, behind-the-scenes conversations surrounding anniversary screenings, and the X-rated, 160-minute movie from 1975 he’ll always dream of showing. Tim is the Programming Manager for the Academy Award–qualifying Florida Film Festival and Maitland arthouse staple, Enzian Theater. We talked about his odyssey from growing up in Central Florida to working on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno', producing independent films, and working as a film journalist (including running the podcasts for Bloody Disgusting), before returning to Florida to become a full-time programmer. Enzian Theater is a nonprofit cinema and café that spotlights independent, international, and queer cinema, cult classics, and so much more. It hosts several regular community events in the Orlando area, including the annual Florida Film Festival, which just opened submissions for its 2027 festival. It is also where Andrew and Peyton first met, at a late-night, full-moon screening of 'Ginger Snaps' (2000). 🐺 𓃦 🌕 After 30 days of exclusively showing Christopher Nolan’s 'The Odyssey' (2026), Enzian has returned to its regularly scheduled programming, beginning with a 4K restoration of Alex Cox’s 'Repo Man' (1984) on August 15. Next, Enzian will present 'Ghost World' (2001) as a 35mm Cult Classic tomorrow night, August 25. We asked Tim why he chose the offbeat comedy, based on Daniel Clowes’ underground graphic novel, as his 2026 birthday movie. Directed by Terry Zwigoff ('Crumb', 'Bad Santa'), 'Ghost World' stars Thora Birch ('American Beauty'), Steve Buscemi, and a young Scarlett Johansson.
