We were SO excited to sit down with Anne Caprara, Governor JB Pritzker 's chief of staff, and letโ€™s just sayโ€ฆ we could have talked with her for HOURS! ๐Ÿ™Œ We got into everything from how a 13-year-old girl decided politics was her future to what really happens behind the scenes in the governorโ€™s office. We chatted about her path to becoming JB's indispensable right hand, from her education at American University to working at Emily's List to working on Hillary Clinton's Super PAC. We talked women and power, the importance of building community, grassroots organizing, and why the voices of rural Illinois matter. And, of course, we got to know Anne beyond the politicsโ€”including her love of surfing! This is what Left Leaning Ladies is all about: real conversations, asking the questions that matter, and figuring out how we can all make a difference right where we live. Because politics isnโ€™t just happening in Springfield. Itโ€™s happening in our communities, our conversations, and our everyday lives. And we all have a place in it. ๐Ÿ’™ Left Leaning Ladies: Real women. Real conversations. Real impact. ๐ŸŽ™ #LeftLeaningLadies #AnneCaprara #IllinoisPolitics #WomenInPolitics #GrassrootsOrganizing #RuralIllinois #CommunityMatters #PeoplePower

    Episode 14 โ€ข L3 IRL โ€ข Kimberly

Meet Kimberly Rossini โ€” Macoupin County Board District 5 โ€œIโ€™m Kimberly Rossini, and I am running for Macoupin County Board because I believe that every individual should feel represented in District 5. I am ready to listen to what issues matter to you and to advocate on your behalf.โ€ We recently sat down with Kimberly to talk about some of the issues that matter to all of us here in Macoupin County, what inspired her to run for County Board, and what she hopes to bring to the role. Kimberly is a lifelong Macoupin County resident and a Gillespie High School graduate. She went on to attend the University of Illinois before earning her law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law. Her connection to her community has remained a consistent part of her life. While in college and law school, Kimberly worked for a local factory and completed pro bono legal work for the Macoupin County Public Defenderโ€™s Office. After law school, she substitute taught for Gillespie C.U.S.D. while studying for the bar exam. Kimberly has worked as an attorney for the State of Illinois since 2010, serving in a variety of roles that have given her experience in law, government, and public service. She and her husband, Jarrod, have been raising their family in District 5 since 2011. Kimberly has also given back to her community through service on the boards of the Friends of the Gillespie Public Library and the Locust Street Resource Center. For Kimberly, running for County Board is another way to serve the community she has called home throughout her life. We appreciate Kimberly taking the time to sit down with us and talk about her background, her decision to run, and the issues that matter to the people of District 5 and Macoupin County.

In February, Andi Smith stood alone in the cold in Edwardsville with a protest sign. Then someone walking their dog stopped. The next day, more people joined. And they kept coming. Now, that one-person protest has grown into a weekly Friday gatheringโ€”and nearly 2,000 people showed up for the latest No Kings event. She's been talked about by our Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and he counts her as an inspiration. Rachel Maddow has also mentioned the Edwardsville protest on her talk show. โ€ So she did.
