Ep. 4 - Pillar 2: The Priesthood of the Family (feat. Yuri Jean-Baptiste)

Every dad asks it eventually: do I have what it takes? In Episode 4, Rance and Kevin open Pillar 2 of the Kingdom Outpost framework, the Priesthood of the Family, with a report back from their first Outpost Challenge, writing down the vision God has for each of their children. Their guest, Yuri Jean-Baptiste, an athletic trainer, author, and father of two outside Raleigh, North Carolina, shares an honest story of growing up in a strict, rules-based home after his mother's early death, coming to real faith with his wife Jennifer right before marriage, and learning to lead his home rather than just privately believe. From a gut-punch comment from his wife to a turning-point experience on an Xtreme Character Challenge, Yuri walks through what spiritual leadership looks like in practice: daily devotionals, praying with toddlers, casting vision instead of demanding compliance, and leaning on faith over credentials. The episode closes with a practical Outpost Challenge built around putting God's Word somewhere your family cannot help but see it. Ep. 3 - Pillar 1: Multigenerational Vision (feat. Hannes & Alma du Preez)

DescriptionWhat does it actually look like to build a family that lasts beyond one generation? In Episode 3, Rance Bland and Kevin Morrison open Pillar 1 of the Kingdom Outpost framework, Multigenerational Vision, with guests Hannes and Alma du Preez. Originally from South Africa, Hannes and Alma now live the very thing they have built for decades. Hannes and Alma both grew up in deeply dysfunctional homes, married young, and had no manual, only God’s Word and a conviction that they would not repeat what they had lived. What followed was decades of intentionality: saying no to hobbies and social calendars so they could stay fully present at home, hosting Thursday night dinners where debate and disagreement were expected, and staying relationally invested long after their kids left home. Now retired and traveling the country in a converted van, Hannes and Alma offer the vantage point Rance and Kevin are still running toward: six grandchildren, adult kids who still want to talk, and a family culture strong enough to survive the test of in-laws, distance, and time. The episode closes with a challenge that stops both hosts cold: write down God’s vision and Scripture for each of your children. Ask God for a Scripture for each child. Write it down. Psalm 127:4 frames it: “Sons are like arrows in the hand of a warrior.” But you can only shoot an arrow when you know where it needs to go, and that requires sitting with God and seeking His direction for each specific child. Rance and Kevin are doing this same challenge with their families and will report back in Episode 4. Email us at familyoutpost@all4one.org to share what God spoke to you about your children. Ep. 2 - The Kingdom Outpost: A Framework for the Purposeful Family

Episode SummaryMost families do not drift because they do not care. They drift because they have never been given a map. In Episode 2, Rance and Kevin introduce the Kingdom Outpost framework, a four-pillar approach to building a family that knows what it is for. This foundation episode shapes the rest of the season. Rance and Kevin open with their Field Report from Episode 1's Outpost Challenge, honest conversations with their wives that surfaced real longings and real gaps. Then they walk through the Four Pillars: Multigenerational Vision, Priesthood of the Family, Culture, and Adventure. They define each pillar, share examples from their own homes, and connect the framework to Scripture. By the end, listeners know the shape of the framework and can identify which pillar their family most needs right now. Ep. 1 - Welcome to the Outpost

Episode SummaryMost families want to live with purpose, but survival mode keeps winning. In this debut episode, hosts Rance Bland and Kevin Morrison introduce The Family Outpost and make the case that the family was never meant to function as a retreat center to hide in, but as a forward-operating base for something bigger. Through Rance's early marriage, move to Belgium, and the moment holding his newborn son changed everything, and through Kevin's quiet but mounting realization that the foundation beneath his family's good-looking life had cracks, they arrive at a core conviction: most families are running on the wrong operating system. Listeners walk away with a framework question to sit with and an Outpost Challenge to take home this week.
