    Jessie Gale's Next Step: Newcastle Loan and Arsenal Future

    Arsenal Women striker Jess Gale has already scored goals during loan spells with Portsmouth and Bristol City, represented England’s Young Lionesses and started attracting interest ahead of another potentially important season in her development. With the 19-year-old now heavily linked with a loan move to Newcastle United Women, I take a closer look at her journey from Charlton and Arsenal’s academy into senior football, what she learned during two contrasting WSL 2 loans and why Newcastle could provide exactly the sort of pressure, responsibility and promotion challenge she needs next.     Arsenal Women’s Goalkeeper Debate Misses The Point

    Arsenal Women’s pre-season is officially underway and, suddenly, the new season feels very real. In this episode I react to the launch of the new 2026/27 away kit, the players returning to the Sobha Realty Training Centre and the first images of Renée Slegers’ rebuilt squad training together. I also answer your questions from Instagram, including whether Misa Rodríguez will immediately become Arsenal’s number one goalkeeper, what Daphne van Domselaar’s injury means for the start of the season, where Anneke Borbe fits into the picture and why I believe Isabella Damm’s signing should be viewed very differently. More than anything though, this episode is about perspective. For years Arsenal supporters asked for greater squad depth and stronger competition.     Why Arsenal Women Signed Isabella Damm

    In today's Arsenal Women news, Rosa Kafaji has officially left Arsenal Women for London City Lionesses, while 18-year-old Danish goalkeeper Isabella “Isa” Damm has become Arsenal’s latest summer signing. In this episode I reflect on Rosa’s departure, why I think her move was probably the right one for both player and club and why I believe some of the criticism aimed at Renée Slegers has been unfair. The main focus, though, is Isa Damm. Rather than simply repeating Arsenal’s announcement, I explore why developing goalkeepers is completely different to developing outfield players, why I think Arsenal have signed Isa for the footballer she could become rather than the goalkeeper she is today and what this transfer tells us about the long-term thinking behind Arsenal’s recruitment this summer.     Why Arsenal Women Still Trust Caitlin Foord

    Rosa Kafaji’s departure to London City Lionesses has reignited a familiar debate amongst Arsenal supporters, but as always I want to encourage fans to ask different questions to the obvious when any Arsenal Women news breaks. Some sections of the fanbase have expressed disappointment that Rosa has been allowed to leave but the club elected to give Caitlin Foord a two year contract extension. But instead of comparing Rosa Kafaji with Caitlin Foord, perhaps we should be asking why successive Arsenal managers and Australia managers continue to trust Foord in some of the biggest matches. In this episode I explore why supporters and coaches often judge footballers in completely different ways, what managers are really looking for beyond goals and assists and why Caitlin Foord remains such an important part of Renée Slegers’ Arsenal.
