477: STREET FIGHTER Wins? You Can See Everything, With Akela Cooper

3 Million Butts Love TUSHY. Get 10% off TUSHY with the code FATMAN10 at https://hellotushy.com/FATMAN10 STREET FIGHTER is back on the big screen, but did Hollywood deliver a knockout or completely miss the combo? Marc Bernardin welcomes acclaimed screenwriter Akela Cooper (M3GAN, Malignant, The Nun II) for a brutally honest, hilariously entertaining breakdown of the new STREET FIGHTER movie. From its overcomplicated story and confusing editing to its missed opportunities for actual tournament fighting, Marc and Akela explain why a movie about people punching each other probably shouldn't be this complicated. But it's not all bad! They also celebrate the ridiculous moments, memorable performances, and flashes of fun that almost save the day. Then the conversation shifts to YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING, Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim's extraordinary A24 documentary about disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes. Marc and Akela explore the film's fascinating questions about manipulation, truth, and documentary filmmaking while carefully avoiding the surprises that make it such an unforgettable experience. Plus, J.C. Reifenberg joins Marc for updates on the ambitious Scum & Villainy RENDEZVOUS immersive sci-fi bar, Christian Harloff announces the return of the Movie Trivia Schmoedown, and the gang dives into audience questions, Hollywood storytelling, and the challenges of getting original projects made. It's movie criticism, behind-the-scenes Hollywood perspective, geek culture, and plenty of laughs in another episode of FAT MAN BEYOND!

The sheer level of arrogance in this show is often so hard to take. Individual preferences are not fact. The negative voices on this show are constantly proclaiming as fact their artistic opinions. At least with Kevin on there's a countering voice to this. I don't think you should ever put out an episode without him again. Or at least make sure at least one host has some humility. I often ask myself why I should keep listening.

We just had three great to excellent superhero shows going on at the same time (Invincible, DD, Boys) and they were hardly covered. I don’t think they ever talked about Invincible. Absolutely wild.

Can’t say enough about Marc Bernardin. Love his reviews and views. The man knows a bleep ton about writing and he brings such a great well-rounded background to this pod. And he has the patience of a saint to work with Kevin Smith (love Kev but wow he strays off into tangents). Only quibble is too much time spent on too many ads.
