Pod Stallions 130: 60 Years of Star Trek (Part 1)

Pod Stallions 130: 60 Years of Star Trek (Part 1) Download the Show here Space, the final frontier. Is there a more iconic opening in TV history? (Debate amongst yourselves). For millions of people, those words became comfort food on weekends, then led to a movie (!!) with the biggest budget since ‘Cleopatra’ (!!), five more with that cast, and damn near 10 more TV series and more big-screen adventures.  From a show that struggled and was too ambitious for the time, to decades of activity and revenue, Star Trek has been the gift that’s kept on giving for 60 years now.  It would be illogical for us to ignore that landmark, and any excuse to talk Trek is ok with us, so here’s our little tribute to the 5 Year Mission. It’s tough to cover everything, but we do our best. Pour yourself a glass of tranya and colour some melon balls with food dye; it’s gonna be an important Trek.      #startrek #podcast #podstallions Toy-Ventures Weekly- The Source for Mego Museum and Plaid Stallions news. Pod Stallions 129: Plaid Stallions turns 20

Pod Stallions is Back.....in Pog Form April, 2006 was a momentous time on the interwebs, for it was the birth-time of the legendary Plaid Stallions. Brought to life by a man determined to find use out of the many catalog pages he’d acquired, it quickly became an invaluable resource for toy reference and fashion giggles. It’s since expanded its borders with a podcast, action figure releases, a toy magazine and soon it’s own cologne in a Brick Mantooth bust bottle. We might be a tad late to the birthday party, but we honor it’s 20th trip round the sun in a brand new (!!) episode. There’s a saying, ‘you’re as young as you feel’, and if that’s true than Plaid Stallions is still just a pre-teen, excited by all the best pop culture from the best decades. And trying to get the Spectrum channel to unscramble every Friday night. Happy B-Day, PS DOWNLOAD IT HERE

Pod Stallions 127: Badder than old King Kong

Pod Stallions 127: Badder than old King King  There are Giants, and there are behemoths and monsters galore, but there’s only ONE King Kong. Well, technically, there’s one that’s been done and recycled in various ways, and as episode one for October ‘25 we celebrate the biggest ape of all. A misunderstood creature who basically likes the ladies and wants to be left alone, Kong has loomed large since first leaving Skull Island in 1933, and we cover all the sequels, remakes, Kaiju and cartoon versions in the newest Pod Stallions.  Enjoy our tribute to the 8th Wonder of the World, the King called Kong!   DOWNLOAD THE SHOW HERE Pod Stallions Facebook Group: It's a treehouse filled with grown-ups.    #PodStallions #PlaidStallions #kingkong   Topics Discussed: King Kong Escapes, King Kong, Kong Skull Island, Willis O'Brien, Rick Baker, Jeff Bridges, Dino Delaurentis, King Kong Lives, Mighty Joe Young, Empire State Building, RKO, Crestwood Books, Halloween, Pod Stallions, Pod Stallions podcast, Plaid Stallions Podcast, Plaid Stallions, Mego, Mego King Kong, King Kong toys, Mecha Kong, Doctor Who, Toho, Godzilla, Frankenstein   [audio mp3="https://plaidstallions.com/reboot/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/PSEP127.mp3"][/audio]   [caption id="attachment_25217" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Toy-Ventures Weekly- The Source for Mego Museum and Plaid Stallions news. Pod Stallions 126: Who Mourns for Doctor Who?

Pod Stallions 126: Who Mourns for Doctor Who? We know what you’re thinking. With a headline like that we’re bound to be Who-bashing all episode, right? (You might also be thinking, ‘bout time they showed up!). Au contrair, my friends. Doctor Who is one of the many things that brought us together as friends, and is something we love deeply. With recent news reports and all the online chatter about the current state of New Who (still considered ‘new’ after a 20-year return!) and its possible exit, it felt like a good time and good subject to explore on our return from hiatus.  So close the door, hit the Tardis controls from ‘Way Back’ to ‘Present Day’ and prepare to walk in eternity as we give our two pence on all that’s gone down and up with everyone’s favourite Time Lord.   Just remember to reverse the polarity of the neutron flow before you leave.....  Pod Stallions Facebook Group It's a treehouse filled with grown-ups.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/podstallionsDOWNLOAD THE SHOW HERE

Pod Stallions 124: Canadian Movies with Matt Weinhold  Back bacon. RUSH. Toques. William frigging Shatner. These are just a handful of the many gifts Canada has given the world. And dang it, they know a thing or two about makin’ movies, too. It’s high time PS celebrated them in an episode, especially since one 1/2 of us claim to be Canadian! (Note: the jury is still oot). And who better to help than our monstrously cool pal Matt Weinhold, Actor/comedian/cinephile/Monster Party Co-host and all-around good egg? Pod Stallions 124: David Lynch

The Elephant Man, Frank Booth, Agent Cooper and Bob, Sailor and Lula and the big sweaty Baron with bad skin. Just some of the denizens in the film world of David Lynch. It’s safe to say the works of Lynch weren’t everyone’s cup of coffee. Download the show here And that’s as it should be, with most left of center output. But his impact can’t be denied, and as weirdos and movie freaks ourselves, it seemed appropriate to celebrate the late auteur. (Plus the man himself is someone we’d happily spend time with). But don’t think this is the snooty, art-house ep of PS; we still manage to get Richard Lynch and 80s underwater monster flicks in, too. The owls are not what they seem, but this is a damn fine cup of Pod Stallions. Drink full and descend! Topics discussed: David Lynch, Dune, Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, Dennis Hopper, Twin Peaks, Ray Wise, District 9, Withnail and I, Lost Highway, David Bowie, Kyle McLaughlin, Rober Blake, Tim Burton, Planet of the Apes, Robert Forester, SNL, Jackie Brown, Mark Wahlberg, The Rift, Matt Helm, Victor Buono, The Wrecking Crew, Dean Martin,

Pod Stallions 123: Phantoms of the Places

DOWNLOAD THE SHOW HERE  Never let it be said that horror kids can't be romantic and have a soft spot for the psychotic underdog, because following up on our Werewolves October ep comes Famous Phantoms of Filmdom. You know what we mean, from Opera to the Paradise, we cover all the ways the original story has 'bled' into other adaptations and pop culture. So grab your favorite opera mask, throw on a cape and settle in for PS's 2nd October eps all about Phantom menaces. (See what we did there? Note: we won't be covering The Phantom Menace. Or Phantom Power by Super Furry Animals, there's only so much time). PS- We know, we forgot Darkman, all Brian's fault and we'll get to it.

Pod Stallions 121: The Alien Franchise

Pod Stallions 121: The Alien Franchise What has two arms, two mouths and gets you right in the chest? It's ALIEN, of course, and since 1979 it's titular character has appeared (tho altered) in multiple big budget flicks, with varying and often disappointing results. With the new Alien: Romulus currently face-hugging the public in a retro way, we thought we'd cover the good, the bad and the Italian (yes, we get to the ALIEN rip-offs!) in our latest convo. In cyberspace, everyone can hear you scream...from listening to the ALIEN-ating new episode of Pod Stallions!
