    HERD: the Podcast, “OUTSIDE” (v2)

    We have two agenda items in front of us.1) HERD: the Podcast Season 1 Finale -Episode 10! and 2) HERD “Why Not?” coming at you live next week, Wednesday, Sept 23. Let’s start here with item 1. Ta-daaaaaa! Outside v2 is ready for your ears. Please enjoy this episode as the Force calls on Amy to tap-in in Tataouine, Ginny waxes about pantsuits and progress, and Kathy recounts that time when “The Beast” created brown confetti. Whaaaat? Yes. It’s all true. Listen and love. As we wrap up this first season of HERD: the Podcast, we want to thank you for tuning in. If you missed any episodes, now is the perfect time to catch up. We love all the shows and storytellers, AND we like to think we really started hitting our stride around Episode 5, so be sure to take a listen to the archives! While podcasting offers a different intimacy than our live events, we have loved sharing this space with you for deeper conversations and spontaneous chatter. We are now taking a short recording break to focus on our multiple upcoming live shows and interactive workshops, but we will be back in the studio this January. In the meantime, we would love to hear your thoughts—send us your feedback and suggestions to help us shape Season 2! OK, next item on the agenda! The upcoming HERD show. We have sold well over 500 tickets to the HERD “Why Not?” show next week at the beautiful O’Shaughnessy Auditorium in Saint Paul. This mission-aligned venue is warm and intimate even with waaaaaaaayyyyyyy more seats than our most recent show. It’s going to be a treat. We note that there are still a few tickets available if you have been waiting for the 10-day weather report.     HERD: the Podcast “PRESSURE” (v2)

    It’s the kind of day where it just seems right to drop a podcast. So here it is. Pulled (in part) from our inaugural HERD: Women’s Sports Edition, we present PRESSURE (v2) In this episode, Annie’s college application gets rejected after she shares her proudest moment, Suzette lays in the grass with echos of her family’s armchair quarterbacking on repeat in her mind, and Maggie is coming up with ALL the reasons to decline an 18th birthday present from her parents.     HERD: the Podcast "CRUSH"

    A podcast drop and a bit of a “HERD news alert”… First, we bring you HERD: the Podcast, S1 E8, “CRUSH” Yaaayyyyy! A lively group in the recording studio made for a fun session. In CRUSH, Gretchen explains why Mullet + Jordache = Flames, Toni becomes the unwitting accomplice in creating a pet cemetery, and Kari has an unexpected face-off in a Taiwanese bathroom. It’s all made even better with ReGina and Jordan chiming in with feedback. This is a fun one folks. Listen, share, rate, review! And in other news, we are happy to tell you that tickets go on sale for the next HERD: “Why Not?” event this week! Start thinking about the time you through caution to the wind and said, Why Not? Because you know you have! And whether the outcome was better than anticipated, a complete catastrophe, or an unexpected surprise, we can’t wait to hear about it. This show is on for September 23 at the wonderful O’Shaughnessy Auditorium, doors 6:15p, show at 7:00p. This venue has assigned seating and the O’Shaughnessy manages the ticket sales, so this one will not be listed in EventBrite. * Podcast Founders: Look for an email tomorrow (Tuesday) for your presale ticket link and code.     HERD: the Podcast "PRESENT"

    We brought you a PRESENT! It’s HERD: the Podcast drop day! S1 E7 is a truly lovely podcast with lots of laughs and even more heart. Tackling the theme PRESENT, Amy opens up with rage against the asparagus, ReGina fiercely locks down the holiday pajama tradition, and Jordan goes toe-to-toe with a toddler. And as the stories unfold, our HERD circle finds a common bond that none of us were expecting. Heartwarming, empowering, and also sobering, to be sure. Please take a listen, and then please rate, review, share. The show is about 27 digestible minutes and these stories deserve to be HERD. Other info: the Sept 23 HERD show at the O’Shaughnessy Auditorium now has a theme, “WHY NOT?” Why not? is the refusal to let "What if?" be a wall, choosing instead to let "Why not?" be a door. At HERD, we have come to believe that when a woman stops asking for permission and starts asking "Why not?", she changes her own narrative and inspires a whole sisterhood to do the same. We can’t wait to hear about that time you asked, “Why not?” …and acted. Tickets will go on sale in mid-August! It will be a blast to see you in person.     HERD: the Podcast "BUSTED" (v2)

    We promised that we would come back to revisit “BUSTED” this season, because it’s just such a great theme. And we are so glad we did, because we busted our guts laughing during this recording session joined by the incredible Saint Paul Mayor Kaohly Her! Listen as Amy figures out the most discreet way to rent a porno, Mayor Her gets away with (legal) stealing as a budding teen, and Erin finds out what happens when you chug an entire half of a Bartles & James wine cooler on New Years Eve. It’s a rowdy group, we tell ya! Through the episode we find commonality, empathy, and camaraderie as we recount these well-earned stories and provide real-time feedback to each other. It is an honor to have a session with this incredible crew, and we are especially thankful that Mayor Her took time out of her busy schedule and life to be a part of HERD.     HERD: the Podcast "PRESSURE"

    This spring we held our first “HERD: Women’s Sports Edition” in partnership with Meet Minneapolis. The show was at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and the venue (“only” 275 seats) sold out in 3 hours. Doh! We need a much bigger venue to get together and talk about women in sport next time. Noted. The theme was PRESSURE, the stories were wonderful, and the crowd was effin’ awesome. So, of course, we pulled from that event for this podcast. PRESSURE—it’s a force we all navigate, and nowhere is it felt more keenly than in the world of sports. In Episode 5 of HERD: the Podcast, we explore the thrill of competition, the joy of team dynamics, and the unexpected moments that define our grit. From the tampon chord hanging out of Gretchen’s nostril 30 seconds in, to Linda’s unexpected Ironman birthday challenge, to Lizz’s minty-fresh journey to the finish line. This is a great show! Enjoy.     HERD: the Podcast "BUSTED" (V1)

    It’s podcast release day! When we recorded “BUSTED”, we immediately had to add “V1” to the title because we were reminded that BUSTED stories are kinda the greatest. And who hasn’t been busted? So, expect even more podcasts on this theme in the near future. In S1 E4 (V1), Gretchen envisions an accordion playing version of herself, Marchel Lea steals an entire marijuana bush, and Melinda is convinced that plaid upholstery camouflages barf. So, there you have it. Enjoy. On a side note, tickets for the July 14 “DETOUR” show sold out in 4 days! Can’t wait to see some of you at the Parkway Theater in Minneapolis next month. We are excited about the theme DETOUR because we know so many twists and turns (pun intended) will be taken.     HERD: the Podcast "Boss"

    In this latest episode, our mini HERD claims, shapes, and owns the theme BOSS. This one is for all of you who have been told you are ‘too bossy,’ it’s for those who self-identify as a ‘boss-ass b***h,’ and mostly, it’s for those who have shrieked, YOU’RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME! to someone who was cramping their vibe. On S1 E3, Amy survives (yet another) collision, Anne Star takes charge (and vodka shots) in Russia, and Melissa organizes her family with love (and color-coded instructions.) It’s good stuff. Feedback from y’all after the first two shows was “more chatter,” so you’ll find this one is a bit more chatty. And still a digestible 25-minute respite from whatever it is you are doing. Two more things: 1- THANK YOU! Our “Let’s Launch HERD; the Podcast Fundraiser” was both very affirming and very successful. We are so grateful for those able and willing to step up for this campaign and help establish a baseline of resources to cover expenses and let us get established. HERD: the Podcast is a new platform for us to share well-earned stories and reflect with love and empathy. We are settling into this mode, it just keeps getting better, and we can’t wait for you to hear ALL the shows!     HERD: the Podcast "HAIRY"

    When we picked HAIRY for the theme for our second live show, we snorted. It was fun, open-ended, and a little edgy. We wondered how the HERD was going to interpret the theme. A HAIRY incident? A HAIRY situation? A HAIRY… thumb? Wait, that wasn’t a thumb. IYKYK, but bottom line you women didn’t disappoint. On S1 E2, Gretchen recalls the mental imprint of her mom’s missing towel, Laura recounts a blood-stained stay in a friend’s home, and Kristie shares her foray in artistic expression.
