Coercive Control and the ADHD/CPTSD Overlap I Christine Howe & Joy Forrest

This episode discusses domestic abuse and coercive control in detail. Please take care while listening, and see the resources below if you need support. Joy Forrest has been an advocate for domestic abuse survivors since 1997, founder of Called to Peace Ministries, and a survivor herself of a thirteen-year abusive marriage. Prompted by the Netflix documentary The Death of a Pastor's Wife, Joy and Christine talk through coercive control, why marriage counselling routinely misses abuse, and the overlap between ADHD symptoms and complex PTSD, since difficulty focusing, time blindness, and memory gaps can look identical whether they come from someone's wiring or from sustained relational trauma. Timestamps 00:00 Intro: who Joy is 02:20 Responding to the Micah Miller documentary 04:44 How abusers groom an entire community 13:25 Why marriage counseling fails in cases of abuse 16:29 Joy's own story: the man who changed after the wedding 25:46 Why Christians struggle with the idea of leaving 32:23 What complex PTSD actually looks like 36:56 The overlap between ADHD and CPTSD symptoms 44:19 Training pastors and churches: Protect the Flock 51:11 Where to find help, and Joy's closing thought on hope Listen & connect Joy Forrest (Called to Peace Ministries): Website · Warning Signs Quiz · Facebook · YouTube Additional resource: Create a Personal Safety Plan (The Hotline) Christine: Instagram · TikTok · LinkedIn Think Time®: Website · Free Training · Instagram · YouTube · TikTok · LinkedIn Hyperfocus & High Performance: Listen Here This podcast is for educational purposes only and isn't a substitute for individualized medical, mental health, or professional care. The KNOWN Framework for Visibility I Christine Howe & Jamie Maglietta

Jamie Maglietta spent years booking guests and producing segments for CNN, Fox News Channel, MSNBC, and BET before she started teaching other people how to actually get in front of the camera themselves. This episode is different: instead of just talking about visibility, Christine and Jamie turn it into a live coaching session, fixing Christine's own podcast setup in real time. Audio, lighting, framing, background, wardrobe, even makeup, right there as it happens. They also get into Jamie's KNOWN framework: know your message, nurture your purpose and presence, own your story, and why leaning into breaking news relevant to your niche (what Jamie calls "news-jacking") can be one of the fastest ways to get noticed. She's candid about why paid, fake press mentions don't actually help with real producers, even though they can still help with AI search results, and where that line sits. If you've ever felt like your message is ready but your setup isn't, this episode is basically a masterclass you get to watch happen live. Timestamps 00:00 Intro and prayer 08:11 Who Jamie was at eight 10:43 Can you make an impact without getting on camera? 12:45 Live coaching begins: audio and framing 19:15 Building a background that reflects your authority 22:53 Lighting basics and the on-camera go-bag 31:54 How Jamie got her start at Fox 34:16 Choosing your on-camera color, and knowing your colors 40:01 Stage vs. camera wardrobe 44:13 What makes Mel Robbins work 50:48 The KNOWN framework 53:12 News-jacking: leaning into breaking news 59:00 Legitimizers, real press vs. paid press, and AI search 1:02:16 Where to find Jamie and her free Visibility Bundle Listen & connect Jamie Maglietta: Website · Free Visibility Bundle · Instagram · LinkedIn Christine: Instagram · TikTok · LinkedIn Think Time®: Website · Free Training · Instagram · YouTube · TikTok · LinkedIn Hyperfocus & High Performance: Listen Here This podcast is for educational purposes only and isn't a substitute for individualized medical, mental health, or professional care. Polished but Going Nowhere I Christine Howe & Zach King

Zach King works with what he calls "stranded visionaries," leaders who can see what something could be two, five, ten years out, but struggle to get anyone else to see it too. They keep getting nods and pats on the back that fade into nothing. Zach's own path through international missions media work, then building an online campus for a 1,500-person church during COVID, taught him this the hard way. He bought equipment alone without consulting the teammate who actually had the experience— a costly lesson in going it solo. A mentor, a retired pastor named Dave Archer, later helped him see the deeper pattern: he'd been carrying his vision completely alone, disconnected from his team and, without realizing it, from his own wife and even himself. He eventually had to admit, for the first time out loud, that he didn't actually enjoy the job he was so capable of doing. That unraveling led to Zach's framework for leaders: build your GUILD. Grow by giving, teaching what you know. Unity, over competition. Influence, gained by shining the light on someone else. Legacy, understanding you're part of a chain, not just building alone (what he calls "founder's intent"). And Drive: moving from polished but parked to crappy and committed, because imperfect action beats perfect inaction every time. His closing challenge: find one person a day and serve them. Turn the focus from inward (what's my vision) to outward (how can I help someone else build theirs). Joy Is a Performance Strategy I Christine Howe & Cindy Garrard

Cindy Garrard used to earn over $800,000 a year in commission sales, one of the top producers in a male-dominated banking industry. Then she noticed something: she was running on adrenaline, and it was leaking into every part of her life. After 18 months at the peak of her career, she made a decision most people don't, she left on top instead of waiting for burnout to force her out. A year-long transition program (connected to the same institute behind Bob Buford and Peter Drucker) helped her step into coaching, built around what she now teaches as Joy as a Performance Strategy. She and Christine talk about the gap between how success looks from the outside and what it costs on the inside, why she chose to post an honest, unfiltered fight with her husband instead of a curated highlight reel, and the Four Hour Advantage, a monthly practice of four unplugged hours doing something you loved before the world told you who to be. Cindy also shares her free Joy Meter, a 60-second assessment showing exactly where your joy is running low. The S³ Leadership Blueprint I Christine Howe & Chad Becker

Chad Becker is a nationally recognized sports leadership coach with 30+ years of coaching experience in Tennessee, 600+ wins, and dozens of championships. In this episode, Chad opens with why winning a championship his first year of coaching, at just 22, was actually one of the worst things that could have happened to him. For decades, Chad coached basketball and baseball and served as an athletic director, eventually overseeing 21 sports, 90 coaches, and 900 families. His identity became wrapped up in society's scorecard, winning, performing, being recognized for what he could do. Then one ordinary Tuesday night changed something. A Lego castle knocked over in a dark hallway. An index card from his six-year-old daughter: How is your week going, Daddy? I haven't seen you. That moment cracked something open. Chad and Christine talk about what happens when success doesn't feel the way you thought it would. They unpack his S³ Leadership Blueprint (Site, Systems, Soul) and his C³ Trust Engine (Character, Competence, Connection), along with the 4 H's he uses to build real connection: History, Heartaches, Hopes, and Heroes. If you've worked hard to get somewhere and wondered why it didn't feel the way you thought it would, this one's for you. The Hinge Beneath High Performance | Christine Howe & Jason Alan Bohrer

Jason Alan Bohrer used to think discipline meant more push, more willpower, more grind. Then he left his job, started a new business with a newborn and a toddler, zero income coming in, and ended up on the couch telling his wife there was nothing more he could do. The 12 months that followed taught him something different: burnout is born of overwhelm, overwhelm is born of avoidance, and avoidance is born of dysregulation. He and Christine talk about the difference between performance as a mask and performance as alignment, why ambition can be avoidance with better branding, and why the nervous system, not just mindset, drives how clearly we think and perform. If you've ever looked successful on paper and felt exhausted in private, this conversation names what's underneath that gap. Timestamps 00:00 Intro: Record everything 03:17 What Jason actually does 05:45 The 12-month odyssey and who he was at eight 09:39 Performance as armor, and ambition as avoidance 11:41 The causal chain to burnout 17:13 Misalignment in founders and executives 19:39 Not enoughness and what pressure does to the brain 22:20 Awareness, alignment, action 28:44 Measuring capacity with HRV 34:14 Hitting burnout: the trifecta 36:40 The sentence that split his life in half 39:32 What Resilient actually stands for 42:50 Three steps for this week 47:02 The 90-second reset and rapid fire round 48:36 What to know if you're exhausted in private Listen & connect Jason Alan Bohrer: Website · Instagram · TikTok · YouTube · LinkedIn · Facebook Christine: Instagram · TikTok · LinkedIn Think Time®: Website · Free Training · Instagram · YouTube · TikTok · LinkedIn Hyperfocus & High Performance: Listen Here This podcast is for educational purposes only and isn't a substitute for individualized medical, mental health, or professional care. Your Body Loves You I Christine Howe & Dr. Cody Golman

Dr. Cody Golman started out as a tank commander, then spent seventeen years as a chiropractor before he noticed the same pattern everywhere: medicine treats symptoms, not causes, and the weight loss industry does the exact same thing. Now he works with women over thirty-five whose bodies stopped responding to the diets that used to work. His core idea is that most people aren't burning fat, they're burning sugar, and stress plus sugar flips your hormones out of the state your body was actually designed to run on. He and Christine get into where this connects to ADHD (his view is that a lot of the brain fog, irritability, and hyperactivity people chase answers for traces back to blood sugar spikes, not character), why fasting and calorie-restrictive diets can backfire, and why sleep timing matters more than almost anything else in resetting hormones. Then, the conversation takes an unexpected turn: the psychological work Cody does with clients around loving the parts of themselves they've spent years criticizing, and why unloved parts of yourself tend to show up again in a partner or a kid until you actually deal with them. Timestamps 00:00 Meet Dr. Golman 01:57 The weight loss industry's blind spot 05:15 What symptoms are trying to tell you 07:00 The ADHD and sugar connection 10:57 Fat burning, survival mode, and fasting 14:47 Sleep and hormone balance 17:49 Gut, blood sugar, and aging 22:49 The licensing effect and loving the parts you don't love 41:05 Chrononutrition, not grazing 47:27 Where to find Dr. Golman Listen & connect Fast 40 (free book, trainings, free call): fast40system.com Dr. Cody Golman: YouTube · Instagram · LinkedIn · TikTok Christine: Instagram · TikTok · LinkedIn Think Time®: Website · Free Training · Instagram · YouTube · TikTok · LinkedIn Hyperfocus & High Performance: Listen Here This podcast is for educational purposes only and isn't a substitute for individualized medical, mental health, or professional care. The Corporate Strategy Behind Your Best Life I Christine Howe & Don Rauzelle

Don Rauzelle used to sit in Google meetings wondering what was actually driving everyone to show up. Then he realized he was chasing the exact same thing, just from a different starting line. Don spent years in corporate strategy roles at Google and Electronic Arts before he asked himself a question that changed everything: if money wasn't a factor, how would I actually spend my time? That question sat for years before it became The Clarifier, a free AI-powered tool that walks you through the same strategic planning process billion-dollar companies use, pointed at your own life instead of a quarterly roadmap. He and Christine talk through what he calls "drift," the slow autopilot most of us fall into without noticing, why self-reflection is one of the most underrated leadership skills, and the moment he realized money wasn't actually going to buy him happiness. Don also shares what he's learned traveling full time (he's currently in Hanoi, about to head to the Arctic Circle in Norway), including an unexpected lesson about traffic, patience, and not needing to be first. If you've ever felt like you're doing all the right things without knowing what you're actually building toward, this one's worth the listen.
