All The Light She Found

Kelly McGuirk

All the Light She Found is a podcast for women who are healing, growing, grieving, rebuilding, and remembering who they are after life has knocked them around.  Hosted by Kelly McGuirk, therapist, EMDR clinician, and someone who knows what it means to rebuild after loss, this podcast is about honest conversations that help women come home to themselves. We’ll talk about grief, relationships, trauma healing, attachment, motherhood, identity, friendship, love, loss, nervous system healing, self-trust, and the messy middle of becoming more yourself.  This is not a podcast about pretending life is easy or acting like you have it all together. It’s about telling the truth, laughing when we can, crying when we need to, and finding the little bits of light that remind us we are still here. Some episodes will feel like therapy-adjacent girl talk. Some will feel like a deep breath. Some may call you out with love. But every episode is here to help you feel less alone, more connected, and more hopeful as you create a life that finally feels like your own. Coming home to yourself isn’t becoming someone new. It’s returning to the truest version of who you’ve been all along.

The Power of Showing Up (Even When Your Couch is Whispering Sweet Nothings)

In this episode of All the Light She Found, Kelly shares her deeply personal story about grief, loss, and the unexpected realization that changed the way she approached her next chapter: no one was coming to save her—but the person she had been waiting for was already there. It was her. After losing her husband, Mike, following a long illness, and having already lost both of her parents in the years before, Kelly found herself facing a life filled with overwhelming questions and decisions. Even though she was surrounded by an incredible community of family and friends, she realized that no one else could heal for her, rebuild her confidence for her, or decide what came next. So she began learning how to trust herself again. Kelly shares how something as simple as consistently showing up for the gym became a powerful act of self-trust during one of the hardest seasons of her life. Even on days when grief took over and she came home and climbed back into bed, she knew she had kept one promise to herself. Over time, those small promises began to add up. Then came the dentist. For years, Kelly had been terrified of going to the dentist without medication. But after losing Mike, she realized she couldn't always rely on someone else to help her face the things that scared her. So she decided to try. And although it wasn't easy, she did it—and discovered that the courage she found in one hard thing could carry her into the next. In this heartfelt episode, Kelly explores: Why confidence isn't something you find—it’s something you earnHow grief can force you to rediscover who you areThe difference between being surrounded by people and learning to rely on yourselfWhy keeping small promises to yourself can rebuild self-trustHow one difficult thing can give you the courage to face the nextThe danger of becoming the easiest person in your life to disappointMoving beyond an all-or-nothing mindsetWhy consistency matters more than perfectionHow small acts of courage can help you step into a new chapterThe power of choosing yourself, one ordinary day at a timeKelly's message is simple but powerful: You don't have to change your entire life overnight. You don't need a perfect plan or a seventeen-step morning routine. You might just need to keep one small promise to yourself. Because sometimes healing isn't one giant, life-changing moment. Sometimes it's going to the gym. Making the phone call. Walking into the party alone. Going to the dentist. Taking the first step. And eventually realizing, I did that. I can trust myself. Maybe the person you've been waiting for has been there all along. This week's light: Do one small thing that is just for you. Keep one promise to yourself—and when you do, take a moment to say, "We did that. Good job."
