My Birth Story: 24 Hours of Labor, an Emergency C-Section Scare & the Arrival of Theo

What happens when the birth you planned looks completely different from the birth you imagined? In this deeply personal episode of Water Your Garden, Sarah and her husband, Connor, sit down for their first solo episode since welcoming their son, Theo, to share the full story of his birth. After nearly 24 hours of labor, Sarah was told to prepare for a C-section as concerns about Theo’s heart rate and her lack of progress mounted. Just when it seemed like surgery was inevitable, everything changed, and Sarah was given the opportunity to push. Sarah opens up about the fear of feeling like her body was letting her down, the determination that carried her through labor, and the spiritual experience that helped her find the strength to keep going. Together, Sarah and Connor recount the moments leading up to Theo’s arrival, the intensity of delivery, and the unexpected physical toll that followed, including an infection, fever, and a difficult first night in the hospital. They also reflect on what it was like to experience birth as a couple, why having someone in your corner matters more than you may realize, and how becoming parents gave them a new appreciation for just how incredible, and unpredictable, the experience of childbirth can be. This is the honest version of Sarah’s birth story: the scary moments, the unexpected turns, the tears, the humor, and the moment they finally met their son. If you're pregnant, preparing for birth, navigating postpartum, or simply curious about what childbirth can really look like, this conversation is a reminder that every birth story is different, and there is no single right way for it to unfold.

From Survivor to Entrepreneur: Erinn Moss on Reinventing Yourself, Motherhood while working & Redefining Success

What if the next chapter of your life could be even better than the one you thought was the plan? We’re taking Water Your Garden LIVE at the International Women’s Show in Novi, Michigan, with Erinn Moss, Survivor: Tocantins finalist, entrepreneur, franchise owner, and mom of four. Erinn’s story is a powerful reminder that your first chapter doesn’t have to determine your next. After competing on Survivor, navigating life alongside her husband David’s professional hockey career, and becoming a mom, Erinn found herself facing another major transition when David retired from the NHL. Without a business degree or a perfect plan, she took a chance on franchising, and went on to build multiple successful businesses, including two Drybar locations and a Pure Glow franchise. In this inspiring conversation, Erinn and Sarah talk about: • What Survivor taught her about confidence, resilience, reading people and trusting yourself • Going from a hairstylist with no business background to a multi-business entrepreneur • Taking the leap when you don't feel completely ready • Reinventing yourself when one chapter of life comes to an end • Building ambitious businesses while raising four boys • The guilt women feel when trying to balance motherhood and work • Why success isn't just about growth anymore • How Erinn has created a life that makes room for both ambition and family • Why you don't need to have all the answers, sometimes you just need to take the next right step Erinn’s story is proof that you can change direction, start over, dream bigger and build something meaningful at any stage of life. Because growth doesn’t happen by accident, you have to water it.

Winning as the Underdog: Sam Kilgore on Taking Risks, Chasing Dreams with HGTV & Building a Family You Love

What started with an abandoned farmhouse turned into a renovation journey, a business, HGTV, and a life Samantha Kilgore never could have planned. In this episode of Water Your Garden, I’m sitting down with Sam Kilgore, one half of After Hours Farm, to talk about the story behind everything she and her husband, Sean, have built together. We’re going all the way back to how they met and the decision to buy their very first fixer-upper, long before they had renovation experience or knew where it would all lead. Sam shares what it was really like transforming an abandoned historic home, how their renovation journey eventually landed them on HGTV, and what she learned from stepping into the spotlight and competing on national television. We also talk about the part of Sam’s life that has changed everything: motherhood. She opens up about raising two little boys while running a creative business with her husband, working together as a couple, and creating a home that feels beautiful but still works for real family life. Plus, we’re getting into all things design, from the trends Sam is loving right now, to where you should actually spend your money, how to add character to your home, and the mistakes she sees people make most often. At the heart of it all is something Sam has become really good at: seeing potential where other people see something broken or ordinary. And that might be the perfect metaphor for building a life, too. What are you intentionally watering in your life right now?
