BONUS: Dysfunction or Discomfort with Special Guest Jen Stovall

Send us Fan Mail Is it them… or is it you? You've replayed the conversation. You've wondered if you're overreacting. You've asked yourself whether it's time to walk away, or if you're just being too sensitive. Life Coach Jen Stovall has one question that cuts through all of it. Once you hear it, you'll start asking it everywhere: at the family dinner, in the staff meeting, in the group text. We get into what the lock on your front door has to do with boundaries, the short list of people who get to speak into your life, and the curious question that offended Jen… and then changed her life. Don't stop at the episode.  Jen's Dysfunction or Discomfort worksheet: for when you can't tell if it's hard or harmful. Sort out what's yours and what's not yours to carry, then leave with one small, honest next step. Jen's Art of Soft Separation: Jen's ten ways to stay connected to hard people without carrying all of it. Jen and I didn't stop when the timer did either. The rest of our conversation, including what to do when the holidays start pulling everyone in four directions, goes out Monday to my email list only. Sign up here. If this one found you and you felt seen, pass it to the one person who came to mind that needs to hear it too. Special thanks to Jen Stovall of Mustard Seed Living. Find her on Instagram @mustard_seed_living, where she's in the middle of her Finding Delight series, and tell her you heard her here. Your first full session is on her. Support the show

Who Told Us This Was Normal: Culture, Belonging & Knowing When to Leave

Send us Fan Mail Do you put mayonnaise on your hot dog? Apparently that's controversial. And it got me thinking about how the places we spend our time quietly shape what we call normal...yes, from a hot dog. This week we're talking about culture — at work, at church, at school, in the studio, on the team. What healthy belonging actually looks like, the difference between being sharpened and being silenced, what to pay attention to when your kids are in environments you can't see, and why leaving can be so hard even when you know it's time. Because the places we belong get a voice in who we become. The question is how much of a voice we're giving them. Want to go deeper? This week's Companion Guide walks you through the questions to ask about the places you (and your kids) belong, plus a few things to practice this week. It's only for email subscribers, so grab your Backstage Pass here: https://nicole-beholds.kit.com/c550577cc0 or visit nicolebeholds.com Special Thanks This episode wouldn't exist without the people who were willing to go there with me. To Chris Burns, VP of Sales & Marketing at Atlantic Builders, and Bryana Reynolds of Richland Baptist Church Preschool — thank you for showing what healthy culture actually looks like and for letting me borrow your wisdom. To Ashley Tauzier, Crystal Greigo, and the many others who wished to remain anonymous — some of you shared things that were painful to relive, and you did it anyway, hoping your story might help someone else see their own a little more clearly. I don't take that lightly. I read every word, I carried your stories with me while I wrote, and I hope you hear yourselves honored in this episode. Thank you for your honesty, your courage, and your trust.
