Lasting Change with Jesus: Going Deeper for Greater Impact

Todd Olsen & Mathew Swinson

We exist to give Jesus what He has always longed for: a people who don’t just know about Him, but who know His voice, still speaking. A people who don’t just know who they are in Him, but who live from their identity in Him as fully adopted and fully loved children of God. Each week we demonstrate how to build transformative conversations that brings Jesus into the conversation.

How Do You Help Someone Who Feels Like They’re Failing Their Calling?

How do you help someone when the problem they bring you is practical… but the weight they’re carrying is much deeper? Josh has been a missionary in Taiwan for 11 years. He loves the people he serves. But speaking the local language still intimidates him, and the fear has begun affecting conversations he avoids, follow-ups he puts off and how he sees himself as a minister.  Underneath it are questions many of the people we help carry quietly: Why am I still struggling with this? Shouldn’t I be better by now? What does this say about me? Am I failing at what God called me to do? As a coach, pastor or counselor, it would be easy to respond with encouragement, practical advice or another reminder that God is with him. But would that actually reach the part of Josh that feels ashamed, defeated and under pressure to perform? In this live Encounter Coaching session, you’ll get to watch Mathew help Josh move through that inner conflict and encounter Jesus personally in it. And what Jesus says changes the way Josh sees not only his language struggle, but his ministry, his calling and the pressure he has been carrying for years. Watch to see how Mathew helps someone move from a practical problem into the deeper place their heart actually needs Jesus — and what happens when Jesus meets them there. When God Slams the Door: Is It Rejection or Invitation?

You prayed. You felt God leading you. You stepped out in faith. Then the door closed. Does that mean you heard Him wrong? Or could something deeper be happening? In this episode of Lasting Change with Jesus, Todd and Mathew unpack a coaching case involving someone whose ministry plans suddenly hit a major obstacle. The natural reaction is to solve the problem. But Encounter Coaching starts somewhere else: what is this situation revealing in the heart? Todd and Mathew explore how fear, anxiety and disappointment can expose beliefs that do not match what we consciously say we believe about God — and why simply giving someone another verse or telling them to pray harder may never reach that deeper place. From there, they explore what it looks like to bring Jesus directly into the conversation. Why does “Jesus, what should I do?” sometimes lead nowhere, while “Jesus, how do You see me in this?” can open an entirely different conversation? What if someone hears nothing? And how can we test what we hear against Scripture without closing ourselves off from personal encounter with Jesus? For coaches, counselors, pastors, mentors and Christian leaders, this episode offers a practical look at how the Encounter Coaching framework moves beyond tactical problem-solving and helps people experience Jesus in the middle of what they are actually carrying.
