MADRES & Desmadres

Instagram: @madres.and.desmadres Motherhood is beautiful, exhausting, hilarious, messy… and sometimes completely unhinged.  MADRES & Desmadres is where three comadres sit down, pour the cafecito, or the wine, and talk about the things we’re all thinking but don’t always say out loud. From motherhood and marriage to parenting, friendships, family, work, relationships, body changes, mental load, menopause, and the everyday chaos of trying to keep everyone—and ourselves—together… we’re talking about it all. No perfect moms. No perfect lives. No pretending we have it all figured out. Just real women, real stories, different perspectives, honest conversations, and plenty of laughs—with a little Spanglish and a whole lot of desmadre along the way. Because sometimes you don’t need advice… you just need a friend to say, “Girl… ME TOO.” Pull up a chair, grab your cafecito, pour the wine, and join the conversation. MADRES & Desmadres — Real moms. Real life. A little desmadre.

    From Treats To Traditions

Send us Fan Mail Music:  "Quiere Una" by Azucares, the Illstrumentalist, licensed under Epidemic Sound.  Original work available at https://www.epidemicsound.com/music/tracks/29d58a25-051f-40b0-99e0-f66e26a49fea/ Halloween may be about costumes, candy, and spooky fun, but the traditions we carry with us go much deeper. In this episode of MADRES & DESMADRES, we take a trip down memory lane to revisit our favorite Halloween memories, compare childhood traditions with motherhood today, and share the meaning behind Día de los Muertos. From ofrendas and marigolds to favorite foods, family stories, and the loved ones who continue to shape our lives, we reflect on the beautiful ways we keep their memories alive and pass our traditions on to the next generation. Of course, we bring our usual cafecito, laughs, and a little desmadre along the way!  But we also make room for the heartfelt moments that remind us where we come from and what we hope our children will carry forward. Because traditions don’t have to stay exactly the same to remain meaningful. Sometimes, it’s the stories we tell, the memories we share, and the love we pass down that matter most. Dime, Madre… What family tradition do you hope your children carry on? Tune in, share this episode with your comadres, and join the conversation! MADRES & DESMADRES — Real Moms. Real Life. A Little Desmadre. And remember Madres, nobody has this shit figured out.  We're just doing our best, one desmadre at a time.

Is It Hot In Here Or Am I Having A Hot Flash?!

Send us Fan Mail Music:  "Quiere Una" by Azucares, the Illstrumentalist, licensed under Epidemic Sound.  Original work available at https://www.epidemicsound.com/music/tracks/29d58a25-051f-40b0-99e0-f66e26a49fea/ Hot flashes, brain fog, mood swings, and forgetting why you walked into a room… comadres, nobody prepared us for THIS part of being a woman! In Episode 6 of Madres & Desmadres, we’re talking perimenopause and menopause—the symptoms nobody warned us about, the moments that make us question our sanity, and the struggle of trying to function at work when our bodies and brains seem to have other plans. We’re playing “Menopause or Nah?!”, sharing our own experiences, and getting into the big debate: Should women get paid menopause days off? If companies offer maternity leave, should they also recognize the challenges that can come with menopause? Or should workplaces focus on more flexible support for everyone? We’re laughing, keeping it real, and talking about what women actually need—from better education and healthcare to understanding, flexibility, and the freedom to speak up without feeling embarrassed. Because this isn’t just about hot flashes. It’s about our health, our work, and learning to navigate a new chapter of life without feeling like we have to suffer in silence. ¿Y tú, Madre? Would you use paid menopause days if your job offered them? Madres & Desmadres — real moms, real life, and a little desmadre.  Educational note: This episode is for general conversation and education, not personal medical advice. And remember Madres, nobody has this shit figured out.  We're just doing our best, one desmadre at a time.

    So Much For The Plan

Send us Fan Mail Music:  "Quiere Una" by Azucares, the Illstrumentalist, licensed under Epidemic Sound.  Original work available at https://www.epidemicsound.com/music/tracks/29d58a25-051f-40b0-99e0-f66e26a49fea/ Before kids, we had plans… and then motherhood had other plans for us.  In this episode of Madres & Desmadres, the three comadres take a trip down memory lane to talk about who they were before motherhood, the moms they thought they would become, and the reality that came with raising kids. From pregnancy surprises, sleepless newborn nights, toddler tantrums, and homework struggles to teenagers who challenge everything you thought you knew about parenting, we share the stories, laughs, and lessons that came along the way. We talk about the things we swore we’d never do as moms, the parts of our old selves we miss, becoming a “mama bear,” breaking generational patterns, and the things we believe we actually got right—being present, listening to our kids, showing affection, and learning to grow alongside them. And in true Madres & Desmadres fashion, there’s plenty of laughter, embarrassing mom confessions, a little desmadre, and a reminder that nobody has this shit figured out. So grab your cafecito—or your wine—and join us for another conversation about motherhood, life, and all the shit nobody warned us about.  And remember Madres, nobody has this shit figured out.  We're just doing our best, one desmadre at a time.

So...Who Let Us Start a Podcast?

Send us Fan Mail Music:  "Quiere Una" by Azucares, the Illstrumentalist, licensed under Epidemic Sound.  Original work available at https://www.epidemicsound.com/music/tracks/29d58a25-051f-40b0-99e0-f66e26a49fea/ So… Who Let Us Start a Podcast? Well… we did.  In our very first episode of Madres & Desmadres, you’re officially meeting the three women behind the microphones. We’re telling you how we met, how our friendship came together, where the name Madres & Desmadres came from, and why we decided it was a good idea to start a podcast in the first place. We get into why we chose a Spanish name and what “desmadre” means to us and to the crazy lives we’re living. Then things get a little more personal with our “Who Knows the Comadre?” game, where we find out just how well we actually know each other.  Of course, we couldn’t start a podcast without talking about the madres part—motherhood, the things it has taught us, the things nobody warned us about, and the parts we can finally laugh about. We’re also getting real about why we started this podcast, what we’ll be talking about, and what you can expect from us—motherhood, relationships, friendship, getting older, work, body changes, everyday life, and all the beautiful chaos in between. So pull up a chair, grab your cafecito—or your wine—and hang out with us. Welcome to Madres & Desmadres.  And remember Madres, nobody has this shit figured out.  We're just doing our best, one desmadre at a time.
