    Sarah once carried tree roots for protection while living outside. Today, she turns them into art. In the first episode of The People We Walk Past, Marcel LeBrun sits down with Sarah, who is approaching two years in recovery, to explore a world some of us only see from the outside. What does it feel like when people look right through you? Why might people not want to leave their tent? And what does Sarah mean when she says, “Sometimes it hurts to let somebody love us”? Sarah speaks openly about survival as a woman living on the street, wanting to stop using drugs long before she knew how, and the combination of housing, support, faith and meaningful work that helped her move forward. She also shares what she wishes families—and the people walking past—understood. Note: Sarah is a pseudonym used to protect our guest’s privacy.
