Like many others, I discovered this podcast via Blank Check and have grown to love it equally. About two years ago, there was a discussion that somehow ended in Matt yelling, “What about the Mona Lisa?” and ever since then, I’ve been meaning to write this, but have finally been prompted to open this app that I don’t listen to podcasts on, because I do want to be review 1000! There is not just an answer to your question, Matt , but a seminal text of art criticism and cultural theory by John Berger called Ways of Seeing, which you may have actually read in college that uses this very question, “What about the Mona Lisa?”, as its starting point - Discussing the meaning of the Mona Lisa reproduction in art and the nature of “aura” as it applies to an original. It’s more relevant than ever, short, and fun to read. Secondly, because of Erlich, I have also developed a Snap addiction, and I think it’s finally time for him to create an “Alliance” so all us weirdos can join and at least feel like we’re having a cinema-adjacent para-social time-wasting experience with each other. Long time listener, first time reviewer. I think i’ve been listening to this great podcast for over 8 years now. It always feels like i’m listening to a friend’s group of friends have a sometimes deep, sometimes silly, always entertaining discussion on film, culture, and life. I have a list of podcasts I listen to, and while some have come and gone from the rotation, FITWR has remained a constant and is the one I most look forward to listening to every week. With that out of the way, are the Rangers ok? I was at the Bruins game last week where we went full O’Leary in spanking the Rangers 10-2. After I celebrated our 8th goal on the jumbotron, I looked to my husband and said, “I wonder how Ehrlich is taking this.” So while I ask if the Rangers are ok, I realize I really mean to ask are YOU ok my parasocial friend? And of course as I write this, Chris Drury has sent a note to Rangers fans that the team is going through a retool. A retool. That’s basically only ever worked for the Caps and, well, the Bruins. Opening your mouth to call Sinners “trash” is telling on yourself and also the last minute I listen to this.

I’ve been listening to the show for a while now, decided to finally leave a review. I came across David, Katy and Da7e separately and then during covid lockdown, discovered they (+Patches) do a podcast together, what luck! It’s a podcast. And it’s one that I will listen to even if I haven’t consumed whatever is on the menu for the week! The hosts all have great rapport even when they disagree (maybe especially when they disagree?) and the music breaks are fun little nuggets. I also appreciate that while they mostly cover movies, they’ll also do TV and sometimes even video games. They usually have some variety in tastes & opinion which makes it a little less predictable than your average film podcast. So - I gave up and didn’t get to be the 1,000th reviewer on iTunes, but at least we will have a week’s reprieve from mobile gaming talk. Cheers to many more years of a good podcast.
