Fighting In The War Room: A Movies And Pop Culture Podcast

I came to FITWR to scratch my Da7e itch after having put off letting Trial By Content’s watch end (“we shall never see its like again”), (also, Thought Bubble is such a great anthropological exercise, how far we’ve come in 12ish years), so I knew one fourth of what I was getting into when I started listening at the beginning of 2026. I’ve been thoroughly entertained by the rest of the ensemble, enjoying Katey’s awards season knowledge, Patches’s optimism, and David Ehrlich’s hockey talk, book leave notwithstanding. I need to go back into the catalogue for other quarter quells because those are genuinely a treat. (Will not “My Dog Skip” those going forward). Even threatened punishment for not leaving a review in the form of mobile gaming discussion is engaging, and I am almost tempted to start Marvel Snap as a result. I won’t, but tempted. Keep up the great work, and thanks for making it easy to hop into the feed!

This podcast doesn’t actually have a lot of fighting! You might want to know that if you’re thinking of subscribing. What this podcast DOES have is thoughtful discussion about the movies and TV of the day, and just the right amount of tangents into other parts of culture, like games and current events. David, Patches, Katey, and Da7e all have their own taste, and when they disagree they express it a healthy way and continue on with their friendship. That’s very admirable and makes for an impeccable, down-to-earth podcast that’s great if you want to keep up with and think about all that’s going on in culture and the world at large. Also I liked it when they played the song from the Enchanted Tiki Room.

This is an amazing podcast with great hosts with the exception of Matt Patches. He is sexist and an argues his quasi conservative points of view to the point where I stopped listening once he starts arguing with his cohost. Do better

I’ve loved this show for years (and written in before) but I needed to write a proper review in honor of last week’s episode. Ehrlich proclaiming “THE AMOUNT OF EXPLICIT GAY CONTENT I WATCH PROFESSIONALLY AND PERSONALLY—-“ and Patches yelling “THE GAY THING IS NOT GONNA BOTHER ME…PLAY BACK THE CLIPS WHERE IM DEEPLY HOMOPHPBIC ON MIC THAT YOU BELIEVE I’LL BE TURNED OFF BY THE GAY ROMANCE ON HEATED RIVALRY” sent me into a cackling fit on the train. What other podcast will offer you this kind of commentary on the romance show of the moment? Personally, I think Katey should baselessly accuse her co-hosts of homophobia more if it results in moments like this. (For the record neither of them are homophobes…to my knowledge). THIS is the fighting in the war room I like to see! 5/5 stars! More of this! More gay hockey!
