The Fool Tarot Card Meaning: New Beginnings, Pure Potential + Learning to Not Know

We’re beginning at the beginning. In this new series of It’s Giving Mystical, I’m walking through the tarot card by card—not to give you another set of meanings to memorize, but to help you build your own living relationship with the deck. And we begin with The Fool: card zero of the Major Arcana. The Fool is pure potential. The beginning before we know what the beginning will become. The leap, the unknown, the horizon line—and the strange vulnerability of admitting: I actually don’t know what I’m doing. In this episode, we explore The Fool through numerology, symbolism, embodiment and lived experience: the relationship between zero and 22, the tension between our infinite nature and our very finite human bodies, our fear of looking foolish, trickster energy, play, new beginnings, spiritual yearning and the invitation to move toward what is calling us before we completely understand it. We also talk about what The Fool may be revealing when it appears in a tarot reading: Where has the role you’ve been playing become too heavy? Where are you being called toward something new? Where has wonder disappeared? And what might happen if you allowed yourself not to know yet? WORK WITH THE TAROT ALONGSIDE ME I created my Tarot Workbook to accompany this kind of exploration. You can use it as we move through the deck to record your own observations, questions, symbols and direct revelations with each card. → Download the Tarot Workbook: https://www.givingmystical.com/shop-1/p/the-tarot-workbook And bring your questions into this series. If there’s something about The Fool I didn’t cover—or something you want to explore more deeply—leave a comment or send me a DM. I want this to be living work we build together. Next up: The Magician. In this episode:The Fool tarot card meaning • Major Arcana • tarot for beginners • how to read tarot intuitively • tarot symbolism • tarot numerology • new beginnings • card zero • The Fool in a tarot reading • learning tarot • intuitive tarot reading • spiritual meaning of The Fool

Learning Tarot: 78 Cards for the Human Experience

Welcome to a new era of It’s Giving Mystical. Today we begin a new series: a card-by-card journey through the tarot. Before we meet The Fool next week and begin our walk through the Major Arcana, I want to start with the foundation: What is tarot, really? How does it work? And how can you learn to trust your own relationship with the cards? In this episode, I’m sharing the way I’ve come to understand tarot after a lifetime of working with it—not as a fortune-telling device or something reserved for people with special psychic gifts, but as a tool of direct revelation. Tarot gives us 78 images for the human experience: love, grief, desire, power, fear, transformation, beginnings, endings, creativity, confusion, sovereignty, surrender. There are no “good” cards or “bad” cards. There are simply places in the human story—and invitations to notice what they awaken in you. We talk about: • What tarot is and how a 78-card tarot deck is structured• The Major Arcana vs. the Minor Arcana• Why I recommend learning with the Rider-Waite tarot deck• Archetypes, numerology and the four tarot suits• Why anyone can learn to read tarot• Intuitive tarot vs. traditional tarot meanings• Why your reaction to a card is part of the reading• Tarot as a mirror, pattern disruptor and spiritual companion• Why there are no “bad” tarot cards• The power dynamic involved in having someone else read your cards• How to sit with a card long enough for something deeper to reveal itself• A simple exercise for choosing your personal card for our journey together You do not have to memorize 78 meanings. You do not have to be psychic. You do not have to do tarot “right.” You can look. Notice. Get curious. Stay a little longer. Over the coming weeks, we’ll walk through the entire tarot deck together, beginning next week with The Fool. Use these episodes to learn tarot, deepen an existing tarot practice, journal alongside the cards—or simply let each card become a companion for the week ahead. And I want this series to become a conversation. What do you want to know about tarot? Which cards confuse you, scare you, fascinate you or refuse to leave you alone? What would you like me to cover as we move through the deck? Send me your questions or leave them in the comments wherever you’re listening. I’ll be reading them and letting your curiosity help shape where we go. If you know someone who has always wanted to understand tarot but didn’t know where to begin, send them this episode. This is a beautiful place to start. Next week: The Fool. Welcome to the journey.

The Fool: Trusting What Comes Next

Sometimes the next chapter begins before we understand where it’s taking us. This week marks the end of one version of It’s Giving Mystical—and the beginning of something new. As I prepare to shift away from our traditional weekly tarot readings and begin walking through the Tarot card by card, I pulled one final card for the road we’ve been traveling together. First, The Sun jumped from the deck. And then, after thinking that the only sign more ridiculously perfect would be The Fool…I pulled The Fool. Of course I did. So this week, we’re talking about what happens when life begins pressurizing us toward change before our conscious minds understand what that change is asking of us. We talk about The Fool, divine protection, following wonder instead of certainty, the strange intelligence of instinct—and the possibility that you do not need to know where the road leads in order to take the next step. I also share a story about reclaiming my mother’s old room as a healing and creative space, repairing its cracked mirrors with gold, and finding a long-lost kintsugi kit she gave me years ago exactly where I needed it to be. Maybe the cracks aren’t asking to disappear. Maybe they’re becoming part of the beauty. And maybe the path ahead isn’t asking you to figure it out. Maybe it’s asking you to follow the sun. In this episode: Why It’s Giving Mystical is changingThe pressure that can precede a new chapterThe Sun + The Fool and an extraordinary tarot synchronicityWhy The Fool asks us to move without knowingTrusting instinct when the conscious mind can’t make sense of thingsKintsugi, cracked mirrors, grief and making something beautiful from what has been brokenFollowing wonder, awe and the “destiny winds”Giving your mind permission to catch up with what your heart already knows Next week, we begin with my Tarot 101—how I think about the cards, how I approach a tarot practice, and the philosophy that will guide us as we begin our new journey through the deck. Then: we walk. One card at a time. 🤍

The Hermit, The Sun + A More Hydrated Life | September 2026 Tarot Forecast

September asks us to come back to the basics. Not because our dreams are getting smaller, but because we’re preparing ourselves to hold something bigger. After the strange, diffuse, alchemical energy of August, September brings us into the medicine of The Hermit + The Sun: tending our own light, taking stock of our resources, strengthening our routines and building the tracks that future expansion can actually travel on. This month, we’re talking about the spiritual practice of sustainability. What replenishes you? What depletes you? What are you willing to keep showing up for even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed? And who do you need to become to meet the life you say you want? We explore: ✦ The Hermit + Sun energy of September✦ Why this Fire Horse year can feel so energetically dehydrating✦ The difference between isolation and sacred withdrawal✦ “Desert harvest” and why it is absolutely not too late✦ Protecting your chi, resources, money, attention and life force✦ The Sustainer archetype + the power of daily devotion✦ Building the tracks for future abundance✦ Why blockages and redirections may actually be blessings✦ Love, partnership and relationships that truly sustain us✦ Individual tarot + animal medicine for every zodiac sign The question underneath all of it: What does a more hydrated life look like for you? Not simply more water (although, yes, drink your water) but more affection, rest, play, beauty, spaciousness, nourishment and the structures that allow your life force to stay strong. You are a being with needs. They deserve to be tended to. September is less about forcing the next chapter and more about becoming the person who can walk it when it arrives. Coming this month:The podcast is evolving! I’ll begin walking through the tarot card by card, creating an archive of my perspective on the deck and its medicine. The Field Notes Project... my new monthly mail offering... is also coming online for October’s mailing, and private September appointments are now open. In-person sessions return in October. Come find me at Giving Mystical and join The Thread newsletter for more.

Stop Fighting the Tides | Pisces Full Moon, Judgment + a New Chapter

What happens when life begins moving you somewhere you didn’t necessarily plan to go? This week, we’re sitting with the powerful, nonlinear energy of the Pisces Full Moon eclipse and the Judgment card—a card of awakening, recalibration, and the moment when you see something clearly enough that you can’t quite go back. There is a current moving through our lives right now. Things we thought were fixed may shift. Plans may be interrupted. Something may be asking us to surrender—not because we’ve lost our way, but because life itself may be participating in where we’re going. We talk about: ✦ The Pisces Full Moon and the feeling of being moved by forces larger than ourselves✦ Judgment as an eye-opening and a shift in our inner North Star✦ What happens when you’ve outgrown an old skin or way of living✦ Co-creation and the possibility that life is creating through us, not simply responding to us✦ The difference between surrender and giving up✦ The Queen of Pentacles as reassurance that you are grounded enough for what comes next✦ Why sometimes the invitation is simply to stop fighting the tides I’m also sharing two changes I’m deeply excited about: a new chapter for It’s Giving Mystical, as we begin walking through the tarot one card at a time, and The Field Notes Project—a monthly piece of art, oracle and practice arriving in your actual mailbox. Maybe the question this week is simply: Where is life already trying to move me—and what happens if I stop fighting the current?

Justice, Alignment + Letting Life Rebalance

What if you don’t have to be the one making everything happen? This week, Justice arrives alongside The Magician, inside our larger August landscape of Strength + The Moon. And the message feels clear: something is moving, resolving and rebalancing but not necessarily through force. We’re talking about the difference between directing your life and trying to control it, the strange intelligence of detours, and why the places that feel foggy or “off track” may actually be moving you somewhere faster than the obvious path. We also explore: ✨ Justice as love made tangible✨ Why what you do every day reveals what you’re truly devoted to✨ Closing the gap between who you are and how you live✨ Integrity as a kind of personal power✨ The unexpected relationship between Strength, Justice + the number 8✨ Making room for boredom, uncertainty and new ideas✨ Recognizing what is naturally resolving itself✨ Letting life move without being the sole source of fuel A question for the week:Does the way I spend my days reflect what I say matters to me? And perhaps even more importantly: What is life already reorganizing on my behalf? Plus, toward the end of the episode, I share some changes coming to Giving Mystical... including a free monthly community gathering, the new Field Notes mail project, the return of in-person sessions, and a new direction for the weekly podcast. Give yourself a minute. Watch what is settling into place. You may be covering much more ground than you realize.
