    Dr. Greg Jacobson's "Favorite Mistakes"

Today is a special cross-posting of an episode of "My Favorite Mistake," hosted by Mark Graban and featuring our CEO, Greg Jacobson.

Please subscribe, rate, and review via Apple Podcasts or Podchaser!

    Show notes and more: https://www.markgraban.com/dr-greg-jacobson-on-juggling-life-and-being-both-an-emergency-physician-and-a-startup-ceo/

Joining me for Episode #31 is Dr. Greg Jacobson, an emergency medicine physician and the CEO/co-founder of KaiNexus, a technology and software company. In the interest of full disclosure, I will mention that I have worked with KaiNexus, in various capacities, since 2011 and I have an ownership stake in the company.

That said, Greg is one of the most interesting people you'll ever meet. Many startup CEOs launch their company at night while working their day job. Greg started KaiNexus during the days while working some nights as an E.R. doc.

In today's episode, Greg (always the overachiever) shares FIVE favorite mistakes from his career:

    Not reading more
    Not figuring out work/life balance
Struggling with the diffusion of CEO attention as the company grows
    Not being appreciative enough
Not doing his own due diligence

We'll talk about all of that, the importance of creating a culture of continuous improvement in a company, and much more. I think you'll enjoy the conversation, as I did.

    January 21 from 1:00 - 2:30 ET

The safe and prompt administration of the COVID vaccines is one of the most critical issues today in global public health.

In this 90-minute panel discussion moderated by Mark Graban and hosted by Value Capture and KaiNexus (in partnership with Catalysis), healthcare leaders from the private and public sectors will share their experiences with the COVID vaccine administration processes — what is working, what is not, and how Lean is helping make these processes better.

The objective of this webinar is to share the lessons these leaders have learned and continue to learn, in near real time, so that others dealing with their own vaccine administration challenges can benefit from and contribute to this discussion. We anticipate informative and lively discussions, with ample opportunity for Q&A.

    "Kaikaku First... Kaizen Event Later"

A few months back, a KaiNexus customer suggested that we host a webinar that is presented in Spanish. So we are trying that with this webinar — with an option for English speakers, as well.

The webinar will be presented live, in Spanish, on December 8th. Q&A will be moderated in Spanish. But, if you register for the webinar, we will send you an English-language recording of the webinar and you will be able to submit questions via email.

In this webinar, our presenter will share a deep understanding of two LEAN approaches to support business transformation — Kaikaku and Kaizen Events. We will review general definitions around these terms and will explain the goal of each approach, the commonalities, the differences, and the benefits.

At the end of the webinar, you will understand why “Kaikaku First and Kaizen Event Later” is a useful approach. Finally Albanesa will share the formula she uses to achieve a real lean transformation in any business.

Albanesa Ymaya, from the Dominican Republic, is Founder, President and CEO of Ymaya Lean Academy Inc. With more than 17 years as an Industrial Engineer working with Lean Transformations in the Manufacturing sector (Medical Devices and Electronic), she has a post-degree in Quality and Productivity Management and specializations in Project Management and Logistic Management. Certified as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Six Sigma Green Belt, Six Sigma Yellow Belt, ISO and TL 9000 Auditor, Kepner Tregoe Practical Problem Solving, Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (MOST), and is Shingo Model trained.

Albanesa has more than 17 years as professor on Institutes and Universities. She has trained more than 6,000 people from different countries (Latin America, Caribbean, United States and Europe).

She has led different Lean Transformations in different countries (Dominican Republic, Mexico, North Carolina, and Herlev). She has managed project portfolios of more than $10 million and has received different International Awards (“Lean Coach of the Year” - “Plant Lean of the Year” - “Operations Excellence Award”).
