Episode 147 Democracy | The Savage Enemy of The Constitution

Roman,

I’ll start off with responding to your Q&A episode. It will be a little while before I get the Lincoln book. I already have a long list of books at home to read and more to buy before I get anymore. Also don’t worry about me using Amazon. I have a Barnes & Noble membership and I make good use of it.

Onto episode 147’s review: this is arguably one of your most powerful episodes yet.

Rough timestamp of 26:30 “Democracy will end in violence!” “Have we seen any indication of that?”
If that doesn’t define America over the last several years, I don’t know what does. How often do riots, talks of national divorce, and a 2nd civil war get tossed around these days? I ask rhetorically.

Timestamp 34:30 “Preventing the science of government from being studied.”
Random idea popped into my head, but would they only try to prevent the studies? Or would they try to alter or add in some extra stuff to change the context of the existing material in a state approved education? Of course we do not talk of anything specific here.

Timestamp 40:35 “The House is the only democratic element of the general government… at least it used to be?”
If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say your referring to the 17th Amendment. Unless there is something else I’m not aware of.

Timestamp 1:27:30 “What will they do to the Christian people?”
Every Christian who has studied the Bible should know. Jesus warned us that we would be persecuted in his name. The world hated him 1st. Well before it hated the rest of us. We need to be ready. The attacks are only gonna get worse from here.

Great episode as always, good sir. Certainly a lot to ponder about after this one.

The delegate of Michigan,
Trevor

Amazing Episode - 147

First off, Roman, whatever illness you have, you better defeat it. We need you. Get yourself healthy from whatever ails you because you gotta keep revving those engines and provide information that is genuinely lost in our society (all jokes aside, please get well).

Second, you really are amazing at finding these gold nuggets—these banger quotes from the Founding Fathers that I’ve never heard—and last episode (Episode 147) was the largest dump of gold nuggets you’ve ever dropped on us. Do not stop. Keep going. Overwhelm me.

Third, as to the many requests from your listeners to know where you get this information, I understand the trouble. We hear these amazing episodes with amazing quotes and it’s easy to get lost with all the quotes. It took me a while to learn to note all the letters you read from, but unfortunately, I didn’t start doing that till maybe episode 90. There are episodes that I try to find, but the description of the episodes doesn’t provide much to know if it was that episode where we heard a quote or a different episode.

For me, it’s not an issue, I listen and relisten to your episodes, but for example there’s one episode I’ve been struggling to find, which had to do with the Catholic Church.

I think it’d be awesome if maybe, if you’re willing, you’d be able to tell us, the listeners, how you use the search from the National Archive site to find these amazing letters. I’ve tried using it before, but I feel I’m not using it right to find these useful letters surrounding fun and interesting topics.

Anyway, I have more to comment. I feel like I could leave a comment every week, but I don’t want to overwhelm you, at the same time that’s exactly what I want to do.

Once again, take care of yourself, however that means.

You’re humble and obedient servant, Jared.

Welcome back

Welcome back, Roman

Finally was able to catch up on the last two episodes. As always, you provide only the best commentary…even when you shout. :-)

Just a couple of comments I wanted to leave for you.

First, with regard to Jefferson as Treasury Secretary, I do wonder about that pick. I agree with the expressed sentiments on national debt, however Jefferson seems to have had a history of believing one thing and living somewhat differently. He spoke out against slavery, for example, but never freed his own slaves.

Also, with regard to his financial capabilities, it is my understanding that he, himself, racked up quite a bit of debt and was in considerably dire straits, financially speaking. That’s not to say that he would have necessarily done the same to the country, but it is a huge concern, to be sure.

The other thing I wanted to address was sources. The very last thing I would want to do is give you more work by asking to post sources for listeners to find each letter that you reference. I know that you put more than enough effort into this project already and I don’t want to burn you out earlier than necessary.

So, to that end, do you have a more general link or source that you could share so that folks like me who want to review more of these letters that you cover might be able to find them. I’m not sure if there is a book or set of books, or maybe these are in the online Library of Congress Archives or some such place?

I’d love to find many of the letters you refer to in order that I could build my own library of them so that I can refer to them over time when I find that such references could be helpful in situations as they come up.

Thank you SO much for the hard work you do and for providing this information to those of us who would like to remain the same sort of republic that these great men of history put before us.

And, finally, I feel I should note that you are not alone in believing the Mr. John Adams is, in all likelihood, the most brilliant man ever to have lived in these United States.

God bless, and keep up the great work!
