#MeetCoolPeople

Ely Delaney

We have this amazing technology that keeps us closer than we've ever been yet we're less connected than ever and have become slaves to our technology.  The same technology that was meant to be a tool to help us make life easier and be closer. The #MeetCoolPeople Movement is to change that.  It's a reminder to put the phone down and pay attention to the people you're with right now. It's a reminder that social media is there to connect and add value to the people of the world. Use it to Promote what you love, not bash what you don't. It's a reminder to use that technology to reach out to someone that you can help and be there for them. Find out what they need right now and use your vast network to help make their day better. It’s a reminder to thank someone for helping you out. It’s a reminder to introduce someone you meet to someone you know can help them. And it's a reminder that we can grow to amazing successes but not alone. It requires the help of others.  So surround yourself with people that make you better and make it your mission to #MeetCoolPeople! Thank you again for helping spread the word and have an amazing day!

MCP145: Do You Know How Much of an Impact You're Making?

Last Friday I was at ConnectFest, an amazing annual event put on by Sheryl Powers, when something happened that stopped me in my tracks. A gentleman (Jack Kearney) on the panel pulled out my own books in front of the whole room and told everyone, "If you want to learn this stuff, go read these." I had no idea he was going to do that. It hit me hard, and it got me thinking about how important moments like those are and how bad we are at acknowledging the impact we make on those around us. In this solo episode, I'm talking about appreciation. Not just giving it, but knowing what to do when you receive it, because most of us let it slide right past us on the way to the next thing. Key Takeaways Why calling someone out for helping you costs nothing and means everythingThe habit of screenshotting every testimonial and compliment, and why it matters more than you thinkHow a folder of saved moments can carry you through the days you want to quitWhy business owners downplay their own impact, and how to stop doing itWhat to actually do the next time someone tags you or thanks you online Listen If You... Have ever brushed off a compliment instead of letting it landAre in the middle of a stretch where nothing feels like it's workingWant a simple habit that costs nothing and pays off on your worst days Tired of prospects ghosting you after your first conversation? MCP144: The 90 Day Rule Behind Every Successful Book Launch w/ Steve Kidd

Most people think book marketing starts the day the book comes out. It does not, and that mistake can cost you months of wasted effort. I got to sit down with someone who has helped launch over 5,000 bestselling authors, and he broke down exactly when marketing should start, and why the timing matters more than the tactics. Steve Kidd is an international bestselling author, syndicated radio host, and visibility strategist. He has spent 40 years helping entrepreneurs and authors clarify their message, and he has written 43 books of his own. This conversation covers what actually moves a book from finished manuscript to real business asset. Key Takeaways Get the book live first. Skip the pre-launch promotion and use the first few days to lock in bestseller status. That credential does more for you than months of hype ever will.Marketing takes about 90 days to show results, and it dies within 90 days of stopping. Treat it like Coca-Cola treats its ad budget, not like a one-time push.AI can edit your book, but it cannot tell you who you are. Feed it your own stories first, or the book will not sound like you.Reviews carry more weight than almost anything else you can do for a book. People check reviews before they buy, same as picking a restaurant or a car.Watch the shiny object. A book that does well brings people asking you to teach them how you did it. Chasing that can quietly kill the business you actually built. Listen If You... Are close to launching a book and are not sure when the promotion should actually startAre wrestling with how much AI should touch your writing processUse your book as a credibility tool for your business, not as the main income source Connect with Steve Steve gives a free 15 minute call to talk through where you are with your book, no matter if it is 25 years old or still just an idea. MCP143: Your Podcast Is Networking With a Record Button w/ Robert Plank

I got to reconnect with an old friend for this one. Robert Plank and I met back in 2008, at a marketing event in Phoenix. We lost touch for years. Then we found our way back to each other, and this conversation reminded me why that matters. This one goes deep on what actually happens after you hit stop record. We get into turning one guest conversation into weeks of content across every platform. We talk about why podcast guesting only pays off if you follow up after. And we get into why podcasts still work for building real relationships and referrals, even in a world that moves fast. Robert runs Marketer of the Day and Done For You Podcast. He's recorded over 1,600 episodes. He helps entrepreneurs turn podcast conversations into content, referrals, and clients. Key Takeaways Turn one 20-minute recording into dozens of pieces of content across every platform. Learn why being a guest on a show is step one, not the finish line. Get a simple system for repurposing years of past episodes without starting from scratch. See why following up with a guest matters more than the interview itself. Hear why starting messy beats waiting for the perfect setup. Listen If You... You have a podcast and feel behind on posting consistently. You guest on shows but never turn that time into real relationships. You keep putting off starting your own show over gear or format worries. MCP141 - How to Beta Test the Person You Want to Become w/ Dallas Amdsen

Most of us set a goal, get excited, fall off, then restart. Again and again. Dallas Amsden lived in that loop too. He found a way out, and it starts with a question most people never ask themselves. What would the future version of me actually do right now? I got to sit down with my friend, Dallas Amsden. He's the founder of Future You, and he helps entrepreneurs close the gap between who they are and who they're capable of becoming. Before coaching, he was a stand up comic and a professional mime, so he knows how to read a room and hold one. Key Takeaways Fake it till you make it is bad advice. Act like the person you want to become. Don't pretend you already are them. Most people run on 10 to 12 emotional triggers. Spot yours, and you can change how you respond when they show up.Change isn't a new identity. It's a beta test. Try the new behavior. Check the result. Adjust and try again.Confidence comes from alignment, not a performance. Line up your actions with who you really are, and confidence follows.Small daily self talk beats one big affirmation. What you say to yourself in passing adds up fast. Listen If You... Keep hitting the same wall and restarting the same goalFeel like an imposter every time you try to level upWant a real process for closing the gap between where you are and where you want to be Connect with Dallas Grab his free resource at 15triggers.com. It walks through the 15 triggers that knock people off course, plus a quick tool for handling them.  Find Dallas Amsden on Instagram at instagram.com/dallasamdsen. MCP140: Stop Chasing Podcast Downloads and Start Chasing the Right 50 w/ Buddy Broyles

I got to sit down with my friend, Buddy Broyles. We had been connected online for two years but never actually talked until a few weeks ago. Turns out he thinks about podcasting almost exactly like I do. Buddy owns Blue Mic Studios, a podcast and video production studio in the DFW area. He has spent 35 years behind cameras and mics, from live news to corporate training video. Now he helps small business owners and local brands turn conversations into real clients. Key Takeaways A 20 minute episode can turn into 15 to 20 short clips for social mediaYou do not need viral numbers, 50 engaged listeners can build a businessGuesting on other shows adds real authority, right alongside running your ownRecording episodes ahead of schedule keeps your show consistent without burnoutAI works best for generating better questions, not writing your answers Listen If You... MCP139: Stop Chasing Tactics That Aren't Built For You

You found the exact framework that made someone else a million dollars. So you copy it, word for word. And it flops. Sound familiar? That gap comes down to one missing piece. I heard a phrase years ago I still can't shake. “Do the right things, the right way, at the right time.” Many entrepreneurs only chase the first part. They skip the other two. Then they wonder why the tactic never delivers. Key Takeaways Learn why the same strategy can work for one person and fail for anotherSee why timing matters as much as the tactic itselfGet a simple gut check to run before you invest time in anything newUnderstand why copying someone's exact playbook rarely gets their exact resultsWalk away with three questions that filter out shiny distractions Listen If You... You keep jumping on new tactics and wonder why the results never match the promiseYou feel behind because everyone else seems to have it figured outYou want a filter for deciding what's worth your time right now Tired of prospects ghosting you after your first conversation? MCP138: Speed Isn't the Problem, Rash Decisions Are

Everybody wants to move fast right now. AI is everywhere. Founders are jumping on every new tool before they even test it out. I've noticed the pushback starting already, because people are making rash calls before they stop and think. This one's just me today. I want to talk about Temperance, a stoic virtue, and why it matters more in business than most people give it credit for. I use Zoom's constant feature creep and In-N-Out Burger's simple menu to show what patience actually looks like in practice. Key Takeaways Learn why patience beats speed when a decision actually matters. See how asking "what are the consequences" before you act saves you from costly mistakes. Get a simple 48 hour rule for big decisions before you commit to anything. Understand why more features or faster growth isn't always progress. Hear why a five item menu can outperform a hundred item one. Listen If You... You're tempted to adopt every new tool the moment it launches. You've made a fast decision you ended up regretting later. You're trying to grow your business without losing what makes it work. Tired of prospects ghosting you after your first conversation?
