Living into Our Purpose | Episode 43
As they continue their deep dive into the Beatitudes, Pastors Randy and Andy talk about how the pure in heart live into their purpose. Just as a chipped cup can live into its purpose of holding coffee or tea, imperfect humans can live into their purpose of reflecting the love of God.

Blessed are the Merciful | Episode 42
In discussing the Beatitudes, Pastors Randy and Andy talk about how being merciful is more than being willing to forgive sin. Mercy is caring so deeply about someone's plight that we are moved to action. We see this in the life of Jesus again and again.

Become Who You Already Are | Episode 41
Trappist monk Thomas Merton said, "The spiritual journey is about becoming what you already are." Pastors Randy Moore and Andy Payton discuss how that saying gets at what's behind Jesus' fourth Beatitude in the Gospel of Matthew. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness for they will be filled."

Push Back Against Isolation | Episode 38
Pastors Randy and Andy continue to unpack the Beatitudes. What did Jesus mean when he said the poor in spirit are blessed? Is it possible that the poor in spirit today are those who become aware of their need for loving relationships that push back against isolation and result in the appearance of the risen Christ?

Good Practical Theology
I’m finally starting to listen to these podcasts. I’ve been meaning to since they started but hopefully my New Years Resolution will help my focus and follow through. After two episodes I can honestly say they are better than I thought they would be. Having known Andy and Randy for many years, I had pretty high expectations. I like their approach with “Seeing Christ in others” as a major influence on both of their ministries. They both have always seemed rather genuine to me and I had met Randy many years before he followed his calling into ministry.
They are following the John Wesley tradition of Practical Theology. John Wesley is considered to be the founder of the Methodist movement. These first podcasts tell about the Articles of the United Methodist Church. What is cool about Andy and Randy’s approach is that they don’t talk about these articles as being rules to follow so that one can be a good Methodist, but how learning of these articles can help one with their relationship with God and others. I find that much more practical than following rules simply because we are supposed to.
Thanks to Andy and Randy for their time and effort and their concern for others.
