    Season 7; Episode 11: The High School Report, Maryville Christian Hoop Dreams, and The Queen of the Mat

    This season is presented by Little Caesars Pizza! Episode 7.11 features Kevin Pawlow, Matt Kamp, Diego Solares, and Mike Baxter with the High School Report; Maryville Christian Basketball HC Mark Allaria with point guard Judah Amsden; and Roxana Girls Wrestling HC with State Champion, MESPY Winner, and Charitable Champion Chloe Skiles. Segment 1 of the show is the High School Report! Diego Solares of ScoutConnect shares his thoughts on the small and large schools on the baseball diamond. Next, Mike Baxter gives a full track and field update, including rankings for boys and girls in large and small school divisions. Baxter also urges listeners to keep an eye on the Maroons Boys Team and the Edwardsville Tigers Girls Team. Then, Matt Kamp discusses the latest news on the softball diamond and the soccer pitch. KP and "Kamper" share their thoughts on the recent OTHS girls' win at EHS. KP reads his boys' tennis rankings, and the guys talk about our Social Media Director's torrid scoring pace for the Edwardsville LAX team. Next up, we welcome Maryville Christian's Head Boys Basketball Coach Mark Allaria, who is joined by point guard Judah Amsden. Allaria talks about completing his first year as the HC at MC and how he describes the many things he loves about his new position. Amsden, who also plays soccer at MC, describes the complementary nature of the two sports, and he describes playing for Coach Allaria. Both share their memories of the 18-11 season. In the third segment, we are joined by Coach Tom Blaha of Roxana Girls Wrestling and his two-time state champion, Chloe Skiles. Skiles, only a sophomore, did not give up a single point in the state series, and she shares her lofty goals for the remainder of her high school career. Blaha describes the joy of coaching an athlete who works this hard and "loves the sport" this much. In addition to winning the MESPY for Female Wrestler of the Year, Skiles, who carries a 3.8 GPA, is recognized as our Front Office Fiduciary Network Charitable Champion. Skiles describes working with younger athletes and why she chose to donate $500 to the Wounded Warrior Project.

    Season 7; Episode 10: The High School Roundup, Panther Pool Prowess, and Crusader Grappling Greatness!

    Little Caesars Pizza presents this season! 7.10 features Matt Kamp and Kevin Pawlow with the High School Roundup; Panther Boys Swim Coach Michael Meyers with swimmer Oliver Williams; and Althoff Wrestling Head Coach EJ Brooks with state qualifiers Pierre Walton, Landon Weidler, Jacobi Cobbs, and Baileigh Self. First, we take a look at the latest girls' soccer and boys and girls LAX results, with KP's notes on last week's biggest games and a preview of this week's prime matchups. Then, Matt Kamp updates listeners with his latest softball rankings for large and small schools. Up next, we look at ScoutConnect's updated boys baseball rankings for small and large schools, and Dave shares Diego Solares's notes on the latest trends in baseball. Then, we recognize our MESPY winners for Boys Swim Team of the Year with Coach Michael Meyers and swimmer Oliver Williams of O'Fallon THS. Meyers describes coaching at his alma mater and the feeling of securing OTHS's first-ever swimming Sectional. Williams talks about the highlights from this season, and he shares his memories from the last year, along with his goals for next year. Finally, we wrap up with the Althoff Crusaders Wrestling team, the Integrity Spine and Joint Center Team of the Month, and the MESPY winners for Team of the Year. Coach EJ Brooks is back to talk about his incredible team, which ranks amongst the best in the history of the school. Brooks talks about the personality of this squad and the intensity of the yearly match with Freeburg. Then, four of his top wrestlers join the studio: Pierre Walton, Landon Weidler, Jacobi Cobbs, and Baileigh Self. Walton, who is also the MESPY winner for 1A Wrestler of the Year, discusses the change in schools for his senior season, and he describes his unique "show time" style on the mat. Weidler talks about sparring with Walton every day, and how that challenged him and made him a better athlete. Cobbs talks about the routine of practice, and Self describes her comfort level practicing with the boys.

    Little Caesars presents this season, and it features the High School Report with Kevin Pawlow and Mike Baxter; IHSA state basketball finals referees Tim Luehman and Rod Taylor; and Nashville Boys Basketball Coach Stote Reeder with star players Maddox Ritzel, Max Reeder, and Gannon Turner. The show kicks off with the High School Report with Kevin Pawlow and Mike Baxter. KP unveils his soccer rankings, and he mentions the big games. Then Mike Baxter of MileSplit Heartland talks Metro East track, including his small- and large-school rankings for boys and girls and "3 to watch." Finally, Baxter goes over a few of the big meets, and he mentions the upcoming big meets. Then, Dave goes over the latest large and small baseball rankings by Diego Solares ScoutConnect. Listen in to see where your team is ranked! After the High School Report, we welcome two of the finest officials in the area, Tim Luehman and Rod Taylor, both of whom officiated the state final games in 3A and 4A, respectively. The guys talk about how they started in officiating, and, in addition to sharing a few "classic stories," they describe what they love about the job. To wrap up the show, we welcome the Nashville Hornets Boys Basketball Coach Stote Reeder, who is joined by Maddox Ritzel, Max Reeder, and Gannon Turner. The Hornets, winners of the MESPY for Small School Team of the Year, had an amazing 31-3 season. Coach Reeder talks about what makes Nashville "different." The guys share a few of their best memories of the season, and they talk about playing for Coach Reeder, who, in turn, discusses coaching them, and he shares some insight on coaching his son.

    Season 7; Episode 8: The High School Roundup, Staunton Bulldog Basketball Greatness, and Edwardsville LAX!

    This season is presented by Little Caesars Pizza! 7.8 features Jack Grimm and Matt Kamp with the High School Roundup; Staunton Bulldog Basketball Coach Ty Laux with star players Isiah Laux, Jeremiah Graham, and Lucas Dillon; and Edwardsville HS Boys LAX Coach Zac Bilyeu with Team Captain Eli Lewis. The show begins with Dave, Jack, and Matt taking a look at the local high school scene. Dave and Matt talk about the 79th Annual Harry Gallatin Awards, which took place the previous night. Then, Jack goes over the first boys' volleyball rankings of the season, and he promises that Althoff is a team to watch this season, along with O'Fallon, which is currently ranked #1. Then, Matt shares his softball rankings for small and large schools courtesy of the Edwardsville Intelligencer, and he predicts plenty of shifting this season, especially amongst the small schools. Finally, the guys share a few highlights of last weekend's girls soccer and boys tennis action. Next week, the roundup will focus on track and baseball. Up next, we recognize the Staunton Bulldogs Boys Basketball Team on their incredible season in which they finished ranked 2nd in our Small School poll. Head Coach Ty Laux talks about his team's preparation, which included 250,000 shots and "getting in the weight room every day." Players Isiah Laux, Jeremiah Graham, and Lucas Dillon share their "proudest moments" of the season, and we recognize Isiah as our MESPY winner for Small School Player of the Year. Wrapping up the show, we are joined by Head Edwardsville HS Boys LAX Coach Zac Bilyeu and his Team Captain Eli Lewis. Bilyeu talks about the fast-growing state of the sport and describes the importance of Lewis's leadership. Lewis shares the story of how he got started in the sport, discusses his leadership style, and then he loses a close trivia contest with social media manager and fellow EHS LAX star, Sophia Jacoby.

    Season 7; Episode 7: East Side Pride, Pre-Season Baseball Rankings, Hockey Winners, and The Queens of Wrestling!

    This season is presented by Little Caesars Pizza! This episode features the High School Roundup with baseball rankings by Diego Solares of ScoutConnect; Edwardsville Hockey Coach Jason Walker with Reid Poettker and Andrew Maurer; Edwardsville HS Girls Wrestling Coach Jon Wagner with Victoria White; and Harry Gallatin Awards President Bill Roseberry with Committee Member JR Gordon. The show kicks off with Dave providing a summary of the dramatic post-season run of the East St Louis Flyers Boys Basketball Team. The Flyers plowed through the postseason with flair, earning Coach Mark Chambers his first championship at the helm. Next, as part of the high school roundup, we are joined on the line by Diego Solares of ScoutConnect. Solares provides our Large and Small School Rankings, and he details the teams at the top of each list, including a few players to watch out for. Then, our first guest is Edwardsville Hockey Coach Jason Walker, who is joined by star forward Andrew Maurer and star defenseman Reid Poettker. The Tigers earned the MESPY by winning their third straight MVCHA Championship by dramatically beating Belleville, which had defeated them twice during the regular season. The boys describe their top memories from the season, and they talk about the emotions associated with winning the championship. Next, Dave is joined in the studio by EHS Wrestling Girls Head Coach Jon Wagner and one of his top performers, Victoria White. White talks about what she loves about the sport, and Wagner describes the many positives that girls associated with wrestling experience. The Tigers earned the MESPY for Team of the Year, and White and Coach Wagner discuss finishing third at the Team Dual State Tournament. Finally, we wrap things up with a visit from Bill Roseberry and JR Gordon representing the Harray Gallatin Awards, which are upcoming this Sunday night, and which recognize the top male and female basketball players in the "riverbend area." Gordon and Roseberry highlight their awards and the excitement they bring to the region.

    Little Caesars Pizza presents season 7! This episode features a high school basketball roundup with local reporter Matt Kamp. Then we are joined by basketball legend Greg Leib. Next, we are visited in the studio by Coach Elaine Baer, her assistant coach, Tegan Beard, and 8 of her dancers. Then, we meet with the Integrity Spine and Joint Center Team of the Month: from SWIC the undefeated women's basketball team. We are joined by their coaches John Denney and Greg "Squirrel" Knolhoff, and star players Iva Medugorac (Croatia), Ola Wilk (Poland), Sophia Hoffman (Carlyle), and Carlota Rey, (Spain). The show kicks off with Matt Kamp, as he and Dave discuss the local basketball picture, starting with the girls' state tournament. The guys discuss Central's stunning state championship, and they talk about Belleville East's incredible 3rd place finish. Then, Matt and Dave break down the boys' playoffs thus far, starting with the 1A and 2A tournaments in which no ME teams made it to the Sectional Final. Then, we talk about East St. Louis's dominant Sectional Championship, and Edwardsville's dramatic win over Alton and loss to Richwoods in the Sectional final. Next up, Greg Leib joins the show again. Coach Leib talks about what he misses about coaching, playing for the late great Larry Graham, and what he's doing with his extra time now that he's no longer coaching. Then, we welcome in the MESPY winners for Middle School Dance Team of the Year, the Bulldogs from Highland. Coach Elaine Baer is back with Assistant Coach Beard and 8 of her 8th-grade dancers. The girls share their favorite memories, and they share a few secrets, like whose mom makes the best snacks, and who the team comedian is. Coach Baer talks about what she'll miss about the 8th-grade girls next year. Next in the studio, we meet with the Integrity Spine and Joint Center Team of the Month, the undefeated (29-0) SWIC Women's Basketball Team. First, Dr. Langston of ISJC sits down with Coaches Denney and Knolhoff, who talk about the strengths of their team: "their willingness to share the ball, and the trust they have in their entire team." Then, we send out the guys and bring in star players Iva Medugorac (Croatia), Ola Wilk (Poland), Sophia Hoffman (Carlyle, IL), and Carlota Rey (Spain). The ladies talk about their perfect season thus far, and they share a few of their favorite memories of this magical season. Then, each player shares her path to SWIC, including what brought her to Belleville, and what it's like playing for the Blue Storm this season.

    Season 7; Episode 4: Hockey, Hoops, Wrestling, and Girls Bowling Playoffs! With the MELHS 8-Man Football Star and the Turnaround Season Soccer Kahoks!

    Season 7 is presented by Little Caesars Pizza! 7.4 features KP, Matt Kamp, Tyler Perry, and Dave with the high school round up; Mark and Abe Oberhauser with Metro East Lutheran HS football; and, Kahok Soccer Coach Rob Lugge with Mikey Suarez and Enrique Carranza. This show begins with Matt Kamp and Tyler Perry joining Dave and KP for the High School Roundup. The guys go over the latest boys basketball rankings for large and small schools. For KP's Corner, Coach Pawlow talks about his teams to watch in the playoffs. Then, they discuss the hockey championship in the MVCHA for Edwardsville, which narrowly defeated Belleville. Next up, they talk about girls bowling with top team finishers of O'Fallon (4th), Freeburg (8th), and Mascoutah (12th), and the top individuals: Kellen Stephens from Collinsville (19th) and Athena Martin (4th). Finally, for the "round-up," Tyler Perry catches us up on the medal winners at boys individual state wrestling; he highlights the three state champions from Belleville East, Freeburg, and Althoff, and he previews the upcoming state dual matches for Althoff and Edwardsville. Next, we are joined by Mark Oberhauser of MELHS and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes; he is joined by his son, QB for the 8-man squad. Mark talks about coaching 4 sons at MELHS, and the experience of coaching his boys; Abe discusses how an unfortunate injury shaped but did not ruin his stellar season, most likely the greatest single football season at his school. Mark also talks about his role as the Regional Director of FCA and the positive impact he has seen FCA have on area kids and their families. We wrap up the show with the MESPY Winners for 3A Boys Soccer Team of the Year, the Collinsville Kahoks. Coach Rob Lugge is joined by two of his top seniors Mikey Suarez and Enrique Carranza. Lugge describes the remarkable turnaround for his club, which struggled in the first half of the season before being the last Metro East team standing in the playoffs. Suarez and Carranza talk about their friendship, their best memories of the season, playing for Lugge, 6 a.m. practices, and their shared plan to play at Greenville College next year.
