More Movement Please

Famous Ashley Grant

I walked into my first Zumba class and lasted 15 minutes before I had to leave because I couldn't breathe. I couldn't do a single jumping jack. I couldn't hold a plank. I was using 5-pound dumbbells and calling them my "big weights." That was August 2023. Today? 600+ group fitness classes. 26 pounds down. I'm using 20-pound dumbbells, taking multiple classes in a day, and chasing the high that comes with working out and moving more every chance that I get. I'm Famous Ashley Grant, and More Movement Please is a fitness podcast for women over 40 who are done waiting to feel stronger. Think of it as your fit after 40 survival guide, minus the unrealistic advice and the influencers who make everything look effortless. I record most episodes from my car on the way to and from the gym, so they're quick (5-10 minutes), honest, and easy to binge. Think of me as your workout buddy who keeps it real. This show is part accountability, part education, part inspiration. I talk about beginner fitness tips, gym motivation, what to do when you sleep through your alarm, why most fitness influencers are full of it, and how small lifestyle changes beat crash diets every single time. Sometimes I bring on guests — like my YMCA instructor Rhonda Goode, who told me the thing that changed everything: "Everyone is busy, but it's a choice to schedule exercise just like anything else." The goal isn't a number on a scale. It's getting strong, feeling better in your body, and building a community of people who believe they deserve to move. I want this to be more than a podcast. I want it to be a movement of movement. Subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. New episodes weekly. Onwards and upwards, friends. Have you worked out today? Talk Nice to Yourself: A Pep Talk for Bad Gym Days

You just went from lifting twenties back down to eights, and you're furious about it. Ashley gets brutally honest about backsliding at the gym, gaining weight back, and why she had to become her own cheerleader instead of waiting for anyone else to clap for her. This episode is about ditching the scale-and-pant-size scoreboard and celebrating the fact that you showed up at all, even on the days it feels like nothing is working. If you're intimidated by fitness or stuck in a rut, this one's your permission slip to talk nicer to yourself. This podcast is for entertainment purposes only and is not medical advice. Day 365 Is Coming: The Full Story of How More Movement Please Started

If you're new here and you keep hearing about Day 365 and have no idea what that means, this episode is for you. Ashley Grant tells the whole story from the beginning, and it starts with one sentence from instructor Rhonda Goode that finally stuck. Ashley walks through the week of July 14, 2025, when she showed up to 19 classes in seven days and accidentally set her own life on fire in the best way. She talks about the Instagram accountability posts, the Medium article, the podcast launch, and why July 13, 2026 is not just a birthday but a celebration of 365 days of maximum effort. This is the origin story. New listeners, this is your entry point. This podcast is for entertainment purposes only and is not medical advice. Almost There: What One Year of Maximum Effort Really Looks Like

Thirty-one days away from one full year of showing up, and Ashley Grant is getting real about what this milestone actually means. If you think getting fit in your forties is supposed to feel smooth and easy, this episode will tell you the truth nobody else is saying out loud. Ashley reflects on nearly two decades of being inactive, the pain that came with it, and why she refuses to let that be her story anymore. She talks about wanting more than just smaller clothes, about watching the people she loves start to struggle with movement, and about why functionality, not vanity, is the real reason to get up and go. This one hits different when you're 31 days from something huge. This podcast is for entertainment purposes only and is not medical advice. From Morbidly Obese Teenager to Fitness Expert: Domenic Angelino's Story

What happens when a morbidly obese fourteen-year-old loses over 130 pounds and accidentally becomes the person his whole high school turns to for fitness advice? You get Domenic Angelino, and his story is one of the most fascinating ones to hit this podcast yet. Domenic walks us through going from overweight teen to double-majoring in exercise science and psychology, then earning two master's degrees in kinesiology and public health. Ashley reacts to his voice note with her own honest reflection on how she spent her active years as a dancer and taekwondo student, only to go completely inactive in college and not find her way back to fitness until 41. This is a conversation about how people find fitness, and why that story matters. This podcast is for entertainment purposes only and is not medical advice. Why Group Fitness Is Just Better (Sorry, Solo Gym People)

Ashley Grant is back in the gym after ten days away, and she has thoughts. Lots of them. If you've ever wondered whether solo workouts and group classes are really that different, this episode settles it. Ashley breaks down her new gym schedule, how she's adding 365 extra minutes of effort leading up to her one-year mark, and what happened when she went hiking with weighted wristbands on. Then she gets out of Zumba and low-impact cardio and delivers a verdict that will sound very familiar to anyone who has ever tried to convince themselves that working out alone is just as good. Spoiler: it's not. Plus, a big announcement about the More Movement Please community group. This podcast is for entertainment purposes only and is not medical advice. Working Out in a Hotel Gym: No Excuses, Just Tabata

Four and a half hours in a car, a mom and sister watching Madea in the hotel room, and Ashley Grant still made it down to the gym. If you're looking for a reason to skip your workout while traveling, this episode is not going to help you find one. Ashley is in Pigeon Forge on a Mother's Day trip and she finds a Tabata class online, grabs the hotel's tens and twenties, and puts in 51 minutes of work. She gets sweaty, a little embarrassed, and completely unapologetic about it. This one is for everyone who has ever said they couldn't work out because they were on vacation. You can. Here's proof.
