In this investigative podcast series, I explore the ways global religions have informed our historical and cultural perceptions of sexuality and contributed to issues I’ve experienced firsthand including matters of violence, community, isolation, self-worth and identity. 3 - Priest Abuse and Homophobia: A Gay Nun After Leaving The Convent
This concept began with the assertion that if queer women have always existed, where would they have likely found a safe space during the middle ages. Enter gay nuns. In this episode I tell the story of Mary Dispenza, a nun who realized she had suppressed not only a queer identity, but also childhood priest abuse when she was in her 40s. Now, identifying as a lesbian and an advocate for S.N.A.P., she is comfortable sharing her story.

2 - Expert Confirms Bible Doesn't Condemn Homosexuality
It is commonly known that there are seven Bible verses that discuss homosexuality. In an episode-long interview with Bible expert, religious studies professor and author of Sexual Virtue, Richard McCarty, I get the full run down on each verse. After addressing the historical context and epistemology of each one, he essentially disproves the notion that the Bible denotes homosexuality as a sin!

1 - Former Mormon Comes Out As A Lesbian
In this episode I narrate my experience growing up in the Mormon religion while suppressing a queer identity. I layer in interviews with my family, friends, and a fellow LDS queer to intimately showcase the struggles and triumphs that accompany coming out. I end this episode by coming out to my dad and stepmom live. It is cathartic and a doozy.

Thank You!
This is such a thoughtful and well made podcast; I am amazed. Thank you for putting so much work into it and sharing your experience. It certainly makes me feel better to hear that other people have gone through similar struggles I have gone though, specially regarding religion and my sexuality. Definitely one of the best podcasts I have heard!

Thank you! It is so nice to hear someone else. I am a trans, queer ex Mormon and it’s hard after the church to overcome the shame and guilt instilled.
It is true, I feel an immediate bond with other ex Mormons as soon as they say they too were raised in the church and left.
