Episode 148: Beginning our next series on "The Anakins": covering the actors who have portrayed Anakin Skywalker, beginning this week with Jake Lloyd

The first time we ever saw Anakin Skywalker in live action, outside of Darth Vader, was through Jake Lloyd's portrayal of Anakin as a young boy in "The Phantom Menace", which was released in 1999. This young boy, who will go on to become The Chosen One, was delivered by a bright and charismatic Jake Lloyd, who was only 8 years old when George Lucas cast him as the young Anakin. IMPORTANT NOTE: in this episode, we respectfully discuss Jake Lloyd's mental health journey, while also discussing how important mental health is in everyone's life. Please understand that we are not mental health experts, though we do want to emphasize the importance of mental health. We commend Jake for getting help to address his mental health, and wish him nothing but the best going forward. Thank you, Jake, for bringing Young Anakin to life in the Star Wars Universe!

Episode 143: Princess Leia, the "Huttslayer"

Episode 143: Princess Leia, the "Huttslayer"

"Huttslayer", a relatively new but cannon title for Leia Organa Skywalker, is a title that isn't always discussed - but should be! By writing it into the novel "Bloodline", Claudia Gray effectively gave Leia a title filled with honor and respect. When Leia killed Jabba the Hutt, she not only liberated herself, but also avenged her biological father by killing his slaver. In doing so, she also liberated thousands more, even her own brother, by taking the chain Jabba used on her and killing him with her bare hands. For this reason and SO many more, Leia remains as bad ass as ever, and we honor her by calling her the "Huttslayer."

New Favorite Podcast???

Started by listening to the Hondo episode and… oh my god I’m obsessed! Currently binging through the rest, and I’m so excited to hear more! I hadn’t been able to find a good Star Wars podcast yet, but this is perfect. Great job!

Smart deep dives into SW AND getting to crush on the characters!

I came across this podcast after randomly seeing someone mention it in a pin group. I decided it would be fun, and I loved the title of this podcast. And I can’t hate on the cover art for it.

I immediately fell in love with this podcast and it is in my top 3 that I listen to religiously. The other two include a news-ish one called The Daily Zeitgeist and the other 420 Day Fiancé.

ATK feeds that need that I have to hear Star Wars talked about intelligently, with good humor, and touching antidotes. I’ve embraced the “To love Star Wars also means to embrace the pain of it.” This is obvious because we all love the characters, the work put into this franchise and the gift that keeps giving us more.

This podcast is charming, irreverent and loving. Overall, Lauren and LeAnn(e?) have so much love for the franchise and it really shows in the care that they put into it. It may take a tiny bit to learn the rhythm of the hosts, or Space Twins as they refer to themselves. They are a great example of not letting toxic aspects of the fandom to completely bog down a Star Wars lover.

Their positive nature is something we need more of in this world, and yes, this comes through so organically in each episode. They always give as much as they can to the podcast and I recommend it to anyone who wants to have fun thinking deeply about the franchise, the good and the *meh* but they don’t yuck other people’s yum. That’s not always easy to do.

The hosts work really hard not to have too many spoilers about even books and comics that are read! I admire that greatly.

And if you like to laugh, and crush on maybe Obi-Wan or Luke or whomever, there’s space for that too.

I also recommend their Patreon as they interact so well with their patrons. Frankly, on any of their socials are this way.

I recommend this podcast for anyone who loves Star Wars!

Thank you both, for such great work and really making sure that this podcast feels like a true conversation.

Also, I like the questions that are asked for the listeners to respond.
