One of the funny things about reading all the X-Books at once is that sometimes they align very well, and sometimes they are so deeply incongruous that it’s head-spinning. This has never been so true as in this episode. In the X-Men, we have an epic conclusion to a thrilling super-villain tale about grief, loss, insanity, and how amazing Cyclops is. In New Mutants, we have a man named Axe who is holding an Axe and his mutant powers are he found an Axe. BUT at least we start the show with some EXCITING NEWS!! Topics Discussed: Cyclops whipped his thing off. Earthrise. The Lahzbees. A surprise kiss… I hate plants now. A familiar priest! “Hey fiancé, are you my dead girlfriend?” Goodbye, Paul Smith. Hello John Romita, Jr! Allegedly electricity. Jazzercise Kitty. GHOST CYCLOPS. A remote control on his hip! Kissing an ugly guy. Disguised as a cave. PHILLIP AND DEBORAH SUMMERS! The Wedding of Scott Summers and Madelyne Pryor. Claremont the lil’ pervo. “Judge” Petrie. VAL COOPER! Getting revenge on a shark! Nightcrawler’s cocoa. Professor X returns to his old ways. Carnival! A man named Axe holding and Axe and his powers are Axe. My fear is pink goo. A Magnum P.I. Plan: “Do A Plan.” Sunspot beats Axe’s Ass. WHY IS HE TRAINING THE MOTORCYCLE GUYS STILL!? Lots of fish fightin’. Kidnapping a random girl. Is this The Living Pharaoh again? Or Maga Yogi?
