Very good podcast. Personally note- I have had so many similar traumatic events happen - this has been very helpful to reflect and also realize I did almost all of the productive things I could being so young with basically no guidance. This was before the me too movement. Thank you for doing this- it’s so hard- and actually having some sort of answer of what to do about it- talking about it. and thank you also for coming to all of the same conclusions- not vilify all predators but to come to some sort of understanding and rather acknowledging the lack of resources for folks. It’s such a hard subject - sending love to anyone reading- thank you

I wonder if while they edit this podcast they didn’t hear how repetitive it was. She kept mentioning the same things over and over again. I couldn’t finish listening

Excellent podcast. I am SO SICK of women explaining why they or someone they love didn't report assault tho. We have to stop doing that. If you do not understand the myriad of reasons a woman (or man) does not report then you are an unfeeling robot.

Excellent podcast. Professional. Heartbreaking case. Shows the deep, harmful and wounding nature of childhood sexual abuse. As well as the multigenerational aspect that is sometimes present.

This was a truly heartbreaking story. These stories do need to be told though. The thing that I didn’t enjoy was the recap at the beginning of each episode, it felt redundant. I also don’t like how the verbiage used minimizes the acts. “Intervened” with the children? No, it’s called rape and assault.

Many of this type all,,,, yet this drifting away , no future & this foolishness of making sure this doesn’t happen to another child …. when great majority comes from a child’s family ….. & families can’t be bothered + the whole Australian thing of not allowing a sexually abused person to connect there name to any story 🙄 ( only desperation brought me here)

The mom constantly blaming the genesis of the sister’s suicide on the narrator’s wedding day is getting my goat. The mom could have, at ANY time decided to help out her kids. Usually, if a mom can’t speak up for herself, the lion comes out as a protective mother. The excuses are enraging. Just because someone is your family, doesn’t give them a right to be in your life. It breaks my heart for these girls that their grandma & mom just sat back & wrung their hands & put these girls in the position to be molested several times. I hope the narrator seeks counseling. Her mom, too. Anything from the mom saying less than “I accept that I allowed you to be molested by the man who molested me. It is unforgivable and I’m glad you still allow me in your life.” is despicable. I just finished episode 3, and though it’s well told, the mom is making this hard to listen to. That and the grandma’s friend’s telling the narrator, “Oh, you thought it was only once?” was mean, awful and pointless I hope this family can heal. So very tragic.

This tackles a subject that’s important, and I think more people should be talking about situations like these. But the host rehashes everything each episode, sometimes multiple times an episode. I don’t want to hear the abuse details repeated over and over, and am more interested in hearing about how they go about getting justice despite the backlash from the community.

I applaud and appreciate the courage it took to investigate and broadcast this trauma. I’m also tired of the constant plugs for Steve and The Australian, it takes away from the content and from the host owning her own work
