Addressing Collateral Damages: The Controversy and Limitations of HRT in Breast Cancer Survivors with Dr Corrine Menn

Addressing Collateral Damages: The Controversy and Limitations of HRT in Breast Cancer Survivors with Dr Corrine Menn

Dr. Corinne Menn emphasizes the importance of survivorship care and addressing the long-term effects of breast cancer treatment. The conversation explores the use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in breast cancer survivors.
The discussion highlights the limitations and controversies surrounding the data on HRT and its potential impact on recurrence and metastasis. It emphasizes the need for individualized decision-making and informed discussions between patients and healthcare providers.
The lack of attention to sexual health and menopause management in breast cancer survivors is concerning, as it can impact their overall well-being and quality of life. There is a need for increased awareness and education among healthcare providers to address these issues.

Changes I Made After My Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Changes I Made After My Breast Cancer Diagnosis

A diagnosis requires change! Treatment gets rid of the cancer, but it doesn't change the terrain the cancer was thriving in.
The factors that make up our environment like hormones, nutrition, stress, inflammation are all asking to be addressed.

    Changes I made:
    1. I started looking are what I was putting IN my body - What I was consuming.
    2. Minimizing stress in my life as much as possible (meditation & breathwork helps so much with this!)
    3. Changed my drinking water & stopped drinking from plastic water bottles. I first purchased a Berkey water filter, buut now I have reverse osmosis with the minerals put back in.
    4. Started looking at what I was putting ON and AROUND my body - Started swapping out everyday products I was using at home.  Skin care and home care. Also purchased a ton of plants and an air purifier. It’s also recommended to just open your windows for about 20 mins a day

Here's the company where I get my skin care, home products and hydrate & detox.
    5. Became more spiritual - This was hugely powerful having a true understanding, eliminates fear!
    6. I changed the way I worked out! Instead of killing myself with my workouts and having my body in a constant state of fight or flight…I started being kinder. Walking daily! More restorative workouts. And of course lifting 3 to 4 days a week (our bodies need muscle.
    7. I started drinking green tea like it was my job. Studies suggest that polyphenol in green tea inhibit growth of breast cancer cells. Book: Tea Hates Cancer

Relatable

As a breast cancer survivor I can relate to Jen and her outlook so well! I also love hearing Darren’s perspective. This podcast is great for anyone who has been affected by cancer but also for anyone who needs to be inspired to change their perspective and look for the joy in life!

✨PRICELESS GIFT!✨

Not Today Cancer has been a lifeline for me recently. As an ultra healthy woman, being diagnosed with aggressive, Her2+ breast cancer + the BRCA2 gene, requiring chemo, dbl mastectomy, + ovaries removed, turned my world upside down!

After diagnosis I started binging the podcast daily, soaking in every detail like a sponge. Hearing other women's voices and experiences, plus specialist interviews was exactly what I needed to feel more empowered. I've listened to several of them multiple times!

I sent Jen a message to thank her for her helpful podcast and I was pleasantly surprised with a voice text that took the gift to the next level! I was able to ask her some questions and receive priceless, comforting responses as well as book recommendations. How amazing is that! Jen says she's put on this earth to help newly diagnosed women. This is obviously her god given passion!

Not only is the podcast pure gold for a newly diagnosed woman, it's also entertaining and uplifting! The banter between Jen and Darren is fun. Darren is truly inspiring himself as he is a role model for how to be a cancer thriver, as he handles a potentially devastating diagnosis in a uniquely optimistic way!

I can't recommend this podcast highly enough. There are multiple breast cancer podcasts out there, but this is my favorite because of the way they handle the heaviest of subjects with encouragement & hope. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Jen & Darren!

Also, get Jen's book. It's great too. Her facebook group is a place to connect with like minded women who share knowledge & support each other.

Ps: I know I sound super excited. It’s actually been the hardest 2 months of my life. I'm just so grateful for these wonderful resources and will continue to use and share them to help myself and others through this year of treatment and beyond. ❤️

Thank you for sharing the journey

Love the details and the information about trusting your intuition and making decisions for yourself and finding the right doctors that fit with you. I am a cancer survivor. I had high doses of external beam radiation, have long-term side effects, and currently have brain tumors that are being followed. Sharing what you went through what you were thinking what you were feeling and what was involved is so helpful for others who have not gone through the process or who are going through it currently love how you take care of your whole bodies with the importance of nutrition and water, intake and movement, and other things for healing… 💜 🦋
