    Fertile Health

    Fertile Health

Our guest this week is Monica More, founder of Fertile Health. Starting off her journey like most other nurses in the ICU, Monica soon after fell in love with women’s health and decided to go back to school to become a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Ready to procure a job, Monica set out for New York but found it difficult to find work in women’s health. Eventually getting hired by an infertility facility in the city, Monica found her purpose as an infertility coach!

Now Monica runs her business which encompasses nurse education and working directly with patients dealing with infertility. From helping clients reach their optimal level of health to providing sound education on infertility for healthcare professionals, Fertile Health enables Monica to exercise her passion for education and helping patients.

According to Monica, the purpose of Fertile Health is to “improve the lives of all women who are attempting pregnancy or thinking about it, particularly those struggling with infertility”.

Spending a great deal of her time marketing herself on social media, Monica put in a lot of groundwork in the beginning and now relies on word-of-mouth marketing to get clients.

Just a short two years ago Monica shifted her focus to patient care and health coaching. Realizing that helping patients as a health coach gives her a wider client reach, Monica meets with patients in-person and virtually from all over the nation, using health coaching and life coaching skills to help her patients improve their wellness.

    Savvy Nurse Writer

    Savvy Nurse Writer

This week’s guest Janine Kelbach, RNC-OB, is the founder of Savvy Nurse Writer, a company that shows nurses how to create their own freelancing writing businesses. Janine has an extensive history working as a nurse in several roles--but mentions that something was always missing. This missing piece ended up being the freedom and flexibility to control her schedule to be a better mother and nurse. Once Janine had her second child she turned a new leaf, and started a new journey where she could have more control over her schedule.

When Janine was offered a position in home care she quickly realized that she liked working on her own! However this position took a frightening turn and Janine ended up resigning. After her resignation, Janine took to Google where she learned about becoming a freelance writer!

With a focus on providing education-based research, Janine’s business aims to help their clients rank on popular search engines. She also shows nurses how to start their own freelance content creation businesses.

    Holistic Mental Health Wellness

    Holistic Mental Health Wellness

This week’s guest Tangee Mascoso is an NP and the founder of Holistic Mental Health Wellness Inc. Always knowing that she wanted to become an NP, Tangee didn’t enjoy her early nursing roles, until she had her rotation in psychiatry. Falling in love with psychiatry, Tangee went back to school eventually getting her Nurse Practitioner license and starting her own practice in 2015.

Working in both inpatient and outpatient roles, Tangee experienced the ups and downs of mental health treatments firsthand, inspiring her to start Holistic Mental Health Wellness, where mental health patients find wellness through holistic health practices. Through educating her patients on mental health and holistic practices, Tangee aims to give her patients the tools needed to cut down (or completely eliminate) traditional medications to find mental peace and clarity.

By focusing on her own wellness through meditation, Tangee learned how to “let go” and handle her own mental health so she could best serve her patients.

Now through her practice, Tangee works with her patients to address the underlying trauma that affects their mental health. Mostly finding patients through referrals and rounds at her local hospital, Tangee provides patients with a range of holistic services including:

    Life Coaching
    Energy Work
    Spiritual Psychiatry
    Meditation, etc.

To get in touch with Tangee directly and learn more about her practice you can email hmhwinc@tangeemoscoso.com or call 224-366-7537.

    SPLNC Shaun Sever

    SPLNC Shaun Sever

Shaun Sever of SPLNC is a US veteran and nurse who went into nursing after she retired from the service. Starting in homecare and medical-surgical roles, Shaun found nursing as an outlet to help people, which is her passion in life. Spending most of her nursing career in the ER, Shaun served both adults and children for over a decade.

After getting burnt out from the traditional hospital setting, Shaun now offers IVs, injections, and legal nurse consulting services that enable her to still practice nursing from the comfort of her home.

From dealing with workers’ comp cases, ER cases, personal injury, medical negligence and everything in-between, Shaun uses a network of contracted professionals to assist with her LNC services, which she’s found on social media. She also mentions that she’s never stopped marketing her services, so she can remain competitive in the LNC market.

Shaun tells the audience that persistence is key to making legal nurse consulting a full-time business. Even if you just have 2-3 attorneys working with you, you can create a successful LNC business with a steady workflow.

A must listen to show!

After listening to this podcast, I’m hooked. I can’t wait to dive into more episodes!

Great concept but please pick better businesses

While I love the concept of this podcast, some of the businesses interviewed are questionable at best in terms of the products supporting “wellness” and human health. I love the idea of nurses branching out and starting their own businesses but not at the expense of evidence based nursing practice.

Heavenly Hash Creamery Episode Was Fantastic

Really enjoyed the the thoughtful and insightful interview with host Carie Harris and Susan Scherer, CEO of Heavenly Hash Creamery, maker of high protein ice cream.

Interesting to hear how Susan started up her company to help others, and as a nurse, Susan Scherer being inspired to start up her ice cream company to help patients with treatment recovery, improve appetite and deliver nutrients via her ice cream.

Great interview by Catie with Susan!
